The Shields #3

A Dark Seduction

Rate this book
Most would give all they had to be raised in the realm of the Fae. Cole had no choice. He was too young to remember anything of his own realm, save for snatches of memories that could be no more than his imagination. But if it hadn't been for the Fae who found him wandering between realms after his was destroyed, he would be dead now. It was the Fae who raised Cole and trained him in weaponry and battle skills until he became a warrior to be feared. When the same evil that destroyed his realm threatened Earth and the Fae, he was the first to volunteer for the Shields.

With his immortality the only link he has to his past, Cole now takes what comfort he can in the arms of women. He wants nothing more than one night with them, one night to forget that he cannot remember his family, one night to take what pleasure he can. It isn't until he finds Shannon that he begins to think of more than just one night in her arms.

Shannon has been brought back in time from Chicago to 1244 England because the evil knows what she is—one of the Chosen. Somehow the evil has found the Chosen before the Shields. His plan is to kill Shannon, but Cole won't allow that. His duty is to protect her at all costs. He's never known fear until now—until Shannon.

I'm giving this 4 stars, but it really feels more like 3.5 because of the length. The Shields story is good but there were a few plot holes with the heroine in this book. I think the whole back story of her being transported from the 21st century could have been dealt with on an emotional level with her. However, I like the overall plot with the Shields and look forward to the next book.

Time travel is one of my favorite types of reading. In this story Shannon comes back in time from Chicago much to her shock. This woman is fiesty and smart plus it was a joy watching her quickly figure things out in a calm way. I love her quick thinking and her ability to size up a situation quickly.

Cole is one of my favorite Shields.... he is strong and thoughtful but is spending too much time wenching to help forget his pain of not knowing who he is. Shannon makes him think different though and with her he begins to slowly change against his will.

The introduction of the monster who is set to kill her is done in a very mysterious way leaving the reader wondering just what type of animal/monster it could be. You'll love the intrigue.

Narrator Antony Ferguson, everything he narrates he will always rate 5 STARS he so unforgettable.

When he first seen her and what that asshole did 2 her he wanted 2 do something about it and her. She got pulled into something she wasn't expecting but knew that she would do anything 2 help Cole in anything good that she knows deep down inside her just by looking at him. The fae that helps them knows he can't do a lot but he does what he can even though he's not supposed 2 do certain things. But the monster is getting stronger than a lot but Cold does what he can 2 not have his vision become a reality in any way possible.

Whelp we had a tussle with a minataur this go round. A 21st century “chosen” was sent back to old England. I’m learning about crazy characters from Greek mythology. I knew about gargoyles and minataurs but I didn’t know about sharpies. They have a beautiful woman’s head and bird bodies. So interesting. Good storyline, solid characters and a love story. On to the next adventure.

A Dark Seduction is Cole's story, who in the prior novel had left with Gabriel in their continuing quest to battle evil. In a medieval village, they find the latest version of the menace that has been summoned to destroy the realm - this time, a Minotaur who feeds upon the village locals and any stray visitors that happen to come about. One of the strays is another time-transplant, this time a Chicagoan who has been forced to act as the local tavern wench. The story was not as fully fleshed out as I would have enjoyed, but the characters were enjoyable and their actions believeable.

This book was so good! Not only do the Shields travel forward in time, but the heroine travels back in time. Poor Shannon! The Evil is getting more persistent as this series goes forward so I feel that this book had a lot more fighting in it than the last one. I love the descriptions of the weapons in these books and we're getting more glimpses of the Fae and their involvement. There was not a lot of back story to tell for Cole but it was interesting nonetheless. On to book four!

There are some sexy times in this book.

Addictive, describes Donna's books. Each story brings a new adventure with a cast of drop dead gorgious hunks and oh yeah, the women they fall in love with. A Dark Seduction is about Cole, the youngest in the Shields. Although not as great as the previous book (my opinion but you may share different views), it's still a wonderful escapism read where once again, the imagery makes it feel more like watching a movie than reading a book. Donna truly is a master writing such delicious and absolutely fantastic adventures. A strong 4.6 out of 5 from me.

"A Dark Seduction" by Donna Grant. Book 3 in The Shields series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The main characters, Cole and Shannon have great chemestry together. I particularly liked that Shannon was a very strong female character intellectually. A very modern woman stuck in the past trying to free herself from her capters. Strong enough to do things herself, but smart enough to now when she needs help. And Cole...well...he's just H-O-T! Very charismatic, but has just enough vulnerability to not be conceded.

Really good. I'll definitely be continuing this series.
