Paul the Apostle

Paul commonly known as Paul the Apostle and Saint Paul, was a Christian apostle who spread the teachings of Jesus in the first-century world Generally regarded as one of the most important figures of the Apostolic Age, he founded several Christian communities in Asia Minor and Europe from the mid-40s to the mid-50s AD.

The main source of information on Paul's life and works is the Acts of the Apostles book in the New Testament, with approximately half of its content documenting them. According to the Acts, Paul lived as a Pharisee and participated in the persecution of early disciples of Jesus, possibly Hellenised diaspora Jews converted to Christianity, in the area of Jerusalem, prior to his conversion. Some time after having approved of the execution of Stephen, Paul was traveling on the road to Damascus so that he might find any Christians there and bring them "bound to Jerusalem". At midday, a light brighter than the sun shone around both him and those with him, causing all to fall to the ground, with the risen Christ verbally addressing Paul regarding his persecution. Having been made blind, along with being commanded to enter the city, his sight was restored three days later by Ananias of Damascus. After these events, Paul was baptized, beginning immediately to proclaim that Jesus of Nazareth was the Jewish messiah and the Son of God. He made three missionary journeys to spread the Christian message to non-Jews communities in Asia Minor, Greece, Macedonia, Cyprus, Judea and Syria, as narrated in the Acts.

Fourteen of the 27 books in the New Testament have traditionally been attributed to Paul. Seven of the Pauline epistles are undisputed by scholars as being authentic, with varying degrees of argument about the remainder. Pauline authorship of the Epistle to the Hebrews is not asserted in the Epistle itself and was already doubted in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. It was almost unquestioningly accepted from the 5th to the 16th centuries that Paul was the author of Hebrews, but that view is now almost universally rejected by scholars. The other six are believed by some scholars to have come from followers writing in his name, using material from Paul's surviving letters and letters written by him that no longer survive. Other scholars argue that the idea of a pseudonymous author for the disputed epistles raises many problems.

Today, Paul's epistles continue to be vital roots of the theology, worship and pastoral life in the Latin and Protestant traditions of the West, as well as the Eastern Catholic and Orthodox traditions of the East. Paul's influence on Christian thought and practice has been characterized as being as "profound as it is pervasive", among that of many other apostles and missionaries involved in the spread of the Christian faith.

1 and 2 Timothy are the last two letters Paul wrote, just before his death. He gives his parting words to his heir, his son in the faith Timothy.

Paul gives detailed instructions about appointing elders and deacons and what sort of character they should show. Paul expresses confidence in Timothy and in his own fate after death. May we all face death with such faith.

1 Timothy is one of Paul's letters to his young friend (son in the faith), Timothy. I've so enjoyed reading this book, and especially loved it this time around! Timothy sounds like he was such a godly young man.

So yes. It was insightful, intriguing, bold, comforting, profound. It's a book of the Bible, after all. *smiles*

Short and awesome. Lots of lovely verses.

8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. (1 Timothy 4:8)

12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit,[b] in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity. (1 Timothy 5:1-2)

20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— 21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. (1 Timothy 6:20-21)

1 Timothy is the first of Paul's final series of letters, which, along with 2 Timothy and Titus, are called the Pastoral Epistles. I love how Paul's letters to Timothy have a much more personal feel to them. (Given the fact that he wrote this to a close friend rather than a church, though, it's not surprising.) It makes it feel like Paul is talking straight to you personally. He teaches a lot about living a righteous, Christ-centered life, and I enjoyed reading it again very much.

Paul explains a lot of basic elements in Christianity in the Pastoral Epistles, and anyone can learn so much from reading the three letters, no matter how many times they've read them before.

1 Timothy offers practical and pastoral advice from the aging apostle Paul to a young pastor named Timothy working in the church at Ephesus. First Timothy presents explicit and complete instructions for church leadership and organization. This includes sections on appropriate conduct in worship gatherings, the qualifications of elders and deacons, and the proper order of church discipline. Paul advised Timothy on these practical matters in a way that would have helped the young pastor to emphasize the purity that should characterize Christian leaders and the gatherings they oversee.

It was important to Paul that Timothy set an example of consistent faith and a good conscience, remaining above reproach and exercising the spiritual gifts that God had given him 1 Timothy 4:12–16 - Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them. Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you. Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.

Bless the name of Jesus!

Paul's first letter to Timothy. Paul thought of Timothy as a son (in the faith. In his first and second letters to Timothy, Paul sought to encourage and instruct Timothy in his ministry. The following are a few verses that established the foundations of our faith.

Establish Jesus as the only way to God, there is no other way to enter the kingdom of God but through Jesus Christ the Mesiah - 1 Timothy 2: 5-6: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

The criteria for being ordained in the office of a Bishop: 1 Timothy 3: 2-7: A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

The criteria for being a Deacon: 1 Timothy 3: 8-13: Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Warns against false teachings: 1 Timothy 4: 1-7: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

The young can preach the gospel: 1 Timothy 4: 11-16: These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. BLESS THE NAME OF JESUS!

MY BIBLE CHALLENGE:
In January 2015 I set myself the challenge to read the complete Bible within a year. I discovered that was an unrealistic challenge, and decided to pick up my Bible as and when I felt ready to read more of it. Here is a link to all the reviews in my Bible challenge so far:

2/19/21: I'm amending my 3-star review of less than a year ago to 5 stars, because I feel like the TPT's translation of and footnotes on those verses I had so much trouble with the last time goes a long way towards making the meaning not only more clear, but less distracting.

"Let the women who are new converts be willing to learn with all submission to their leaders and not speak out of turn. I don't advocate that the newly converted women be the teachers in the church . . . "
~1 Tim 2:11-12 (italics in original)

Huh. That puts a somewhat different light on it. There's a very long footnote on v.11 that goes into more detail about this than I have space for here, but basically, the editor suggests that Paul was responding to the local cultural context in Ephesus (where Timothy was stationed when he received this letter), in which the worship of the goddess Diana was led by women, and therefore women in the church who had newly converted from the goddess worship were inclined to argue with their male congregational leaders (most likely distracting the rest of the congregation).

Thank God for context! I'm not enough of a scholar of the original languages or of this historical era to know what the sources are for the editor's assertions, but these ideas are compelling and essential reading for anyone who is bothered by the harsher, more longstanding interpretations of this passage (like, "NO WOMEN TEACHERS IN THE CHURCH ANYWHERE, EVER, THROUGHOUT ALL OF HISTORY, MWA HA HA HA!!!!!!").

We miss a LOT when we don't take a closer look at the cultural "image" in which a text like this was written.

6/19/20: I give this 3 stars as a way to express my mixed feelings . . .

Unlike, say, 1 and 2 Corinthians or most of the other "letters" of the New Testament, this is written not to a church (i.e. a collective) but to an individual--an individual, in fact, who was one of Paul's closest friends.

Which, I think we can safely assume, means that what he writes in this letter comes from the heart.

And to a 21st century reader, that makes it all the more difficult to read passages like this:

"A woman is to learn quietly with full submission. I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed. But she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with good sense."
~2:11-15

What?! This isn't even coherent logic. Remember Jacob and Esau? Esau was the older (the one who was "formed first"), but which one ended up in a superior position? The younger! And even if you accept Paul's perspective on Adam and Eve, to say that the first woman's mistake means that all women throughout all time deserve to pay for it by being subjugated to the men in their lives . . . I don't even know what to say to that. And what does he mean by saying women will be "saved" through childbearing? I thought people were saved . . . through Christ and Christ alone?!

And then there's the admonition that believing slaves should "regard their own masters as worthy of all respect" and that a believing slave who has a believing master should be all the more hard-working because . . . they're fellow believers?

(Why shouldn't the believing master just let the slave go, out of Christian charity?)

Yes . . . it's fair to argue that there might be some historical and cultural context we're missing and that if we frown on Paul TOO much, we will become guilty of "chronological snobbery" and of missing the glaring sins and blindness of our OWN time.

. . . but there are still parts of Paul's letters that are hard to figure at best and outright offensive at worst (at least at first glance).

There is, of course, plenty of good advice here that Paul gives to Timothy, and that shouldn't be overlooked, either. But it would be dishonest to avoid the awkward parts just to emphasize the "good" parts that need no defense.

Letter from Paul aimed at helping Timothy bring back the church of Ephesus to the right path after the infiltration of false teachers among them, reaching rules that are contrary to what JESUS taught.

Interesting verses 🥰
‭‭1 Timothy 1:3-7 NIV‬‬
[3] As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer [4] or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith. [5] The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. [6] Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. [7] They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

‭‭1 Timothy 1:13 NIV‬‬
[13] Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.

‭‭1 Timothy 1:15-16 NIV‬‬
[15] Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. [16] But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

‭‭1 Timothy 2:3-4 NIV‬‬
[3] This is good, and pleases God our Savior, [4] who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

‭‭1 Timothy 3:2-7 NIV‬‬
[2] Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, [3] not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. [4] He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. [5] (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) [6] He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. [7] He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

‭‭1 Timothy 3:8 NIV‬‬
[8] In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.

‭‭1 Timothy 3:10 NIV‬‬
[10] They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

‭‭1 Timothy 3:12 NIV‬‬
[12] A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well.

‭‭1 Timothy 4:1 NIV‬‬
[1] The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

‭‭1 Timothy 4:3 NIV‬‬
[3] They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.

‭‭1 Timothy 5:14 NIV‬‬
[14] So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander.

‭‭1 Timothy 5:16 NIV‬‬
[16] If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.

‭‭1 Timothy 6:10 NIV‬‬
[10] For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Prayers 🙏🏾
‭‭1 Timothy 1:17 NIV‬‬
[17] Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Revelations 🤯
‭‭1 Timothy 1:8-11 NIV‬‬
[8] We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. [9] We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, [10] for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine [11] that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

‭‭1 Timothy 4:8 NIV‬‬
[8] For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

‭‭1 Timothy 6:3-5 NIV‬‬
[3] If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, [4] they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions [5] and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

‭‭1 Timothy 6:6 NIV‬‬
[6] But godliness with contentment is great gain.

What to aim for 💎
‭‭1 Timothy 1:12 NIV‬‬
[12] I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.

Funny verses 😂
‭‭1 Timothy 1:20 NIV‬‬
[20] Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

Daily reminders 💁🏾‍♀️
‭‭1 Timothy 2:1-2 NIV‬‬
[1] I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— [2] for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

‭‭1 Timothy 2:9-10 NIV‬‬
[9] I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, [10] but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

‭‭1 Timothy 3:11 NIV‬‬
[11] In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

‭‭1 Timothy 4:7 NIV‬‬
[7] Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.

‭‭1 Timothy 4:12 NIV‬‬
[12] Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

‭‭1 Timothy 5:1-2 NIV‬‬
[1] Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, [2] older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.

‭‭1 Timothy 5:4 NIV‬‬
[4] But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

‭‭1 Timothy 5:19-20 NIV‬‬
[19] Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. [20] But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that the others may take warning.

‭‭1 Timothy 5:22 NIV‬‬
[22] Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

‭‭1 Timothy 6:11-12 NIV‬‬
[11] But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. [12] Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

‭‭1 Timothy 6:18-19 NIV‬‬
[18] Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. [19] In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

‭‭1 Timothy 6:20 NIV‬‬
[20] Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,

Verses I know 😁
‭‭1 Timothy 2:5-6 NIV‬‬
[5] For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, [6] who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.

‭‭‭‭1 Timothy 4:4-5 NIV‬‬
[4] For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, [5] because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

‭‭1 Timothy 5:8 NIV‬‬
[8] Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

‭‭1 Timothy 6:7 NIV‬‬
[7] For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

Timothy was an elder of the Ephesus church to whom Paul writes a letter directed to him as an individual. So far out of Paul's books, Timothy is the first individual to whom he has written; the rest prior to Timothy were directed to churches (Ephesians, Galatians, etc.) While the context of 1 Timothy must be considered in full detail, especially when it comes to Chapter 2 Verses 11-15, the concepts are universal and applicable today. Paul writes to Timothy about leaders in the church, respect for the elders, the true faith, and also encourages him throughout. There is much to unpack, and I have yet to reread after a study in context. But, I am grateful for the wisdom and theology that Paul provides. There are many verses in here that I see are true yet still to this day.

"You are young, but do not let anyone treat you as if you were not important." - 1 Tim 4:12

"The Holy Spirit clearly says that in the later times some people will stop believing the true faith. They will obey spirits that lie and will follow the teachings of demons. Such teachings come from hypocrites, men who cannot see what is right and what is wrong. It is as if their understanding were destroyed by a hot iron." – 1 Tim 4:1-2

I find it interesting that the first letters Paul wrote were to churches: Thessalonians, Romans; the letters to the Corinthians, Galatians, but the final letters he wrote were to his “spiritual children,” personal letters to one man—to Timothy and to Titus (along with his letter to Philemon slightly earlier). On the one hand, I realize that the letters were written as the Holy Spirit inspired them, so there is a divine order to them. But on the human side, I wonder if it is at least in part that the elder Paul realized, as so many people do, that as life goes on, the thing that matters most is relationships. Men may prioritize their jobs (even jobs as important as that of an apostle of Christ) in their younger years, but as time goes on, hopefully they realize that relationships are of vital importance. Also, at the end of one’s life, the desire to pass on what is most important to others becomes strong. Thus, Paul knows his time on earth is short, and he wishes to pass on what he knows to his “spiritual children,” and we are blessed to share that wisdom as God preserved it for us in the New Testament.

The book of First Timothy is the fifty-fourth book in the Bible, and it is the fifteenth book of the New Testament. This book is a letter penned to Timothy, one of Paul’s disciples and close friends, and is considered one of three Pastoral Epistles, along with Second Timothy and Titus. There is much debate about when Paul wrote this epistle, though many believe it is around A.D. 63.

This book contains some of the most detailed instructions about church leadership and the organization of the church, perhaps surpassing any other book. From the qualities one should look for in elders and deacons to church discipline, Paul shares much about how the church should be run and organized. A special emphasis on purity is also directed at the young Pastor Timothy.

This book is not one of my favorites. As I am in no position for church leadership, I find this book occasionally tedious. There is no doubt this book is valuable and necessary, but it holds less interest for me than others. A much needed book, First Timothy is just not the most absorbing book for me.

Sidenote: The reason for such vague and short and "eh" words on each of these books, is because I wasn't challenging the study of the Bible when I read these. I was challenging myself to read the whole Bible in a year because I knew it would be discipline to keep at it daily. I do, however, plan to pick up a book and study what it is saying. Those will be longer reads and more notes.

So here is my review from my "Read the Bible in a Year" challenge. Usually just snippets of thoughts and random things I liked about the book itself. Nothing in-depth.

So here is my review of 1 Timothy!

All these books are super short. But they are so good. I can't wait to actually study the Timothy books.

I found this work of immense interest and importance.
The compilation of historical accounts, wisdom & proverbial insights, and thought provoking texts, along with descriptive and informative footnotes, are of great value.
Explanations, including varying scholarly views depicting the material related in this book, are available for each of the 66 individual books of the Bible.
This book is but one of the individual 66 books/letters which were written by forty different authors over at least 1500 years in three different languages on three different continents, which comprise the Bible.
Read for life-related reasons and personal research.
Overall, a great resource for the researcher, enthusiast, and devotee.

We started this in family Bible time back in June, but I missed some of the reading and thought I'd just read it myself later. Since then I've been reading other areas of the Bible, and not any book to completion, and forgot about reading this until recently, when I read it over two days, and then again all in one sitting because I wanted the review and to take it in as a whole. So much wisdom in the scriptures! (I read NKJV, not ESV)
Update 1/14/2020: Finished reading through with the children again today.
Update 3/29/2022: I read it through recently again, by myself this time.

1 Timothy 4:12
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."

The Lord never fails to amaze me. He so faithful.

I've recently been struggling a lot lately, and reading this letter from Brother Paul just really strengthened me. I prayed and asked the Father to show me what to read in his Word. He replied with "1 Timothy".

This small book has blessed me so much and I'm extremely thankful. I'm excited to see where my God takes me next.

Highly recommend for young Christians!

This book is from a letter to Timothy from Paul. It deals with specific principles of holy living and leadership, very well suited to people who may be in leadership positions that influence, spiritually, other people. This book addresses subjects such as: wealth, personal integrity, contentment, the problem of false teaching, doctrine, the treatment of various groups in the church setting, and public worship. I find this book to be encouraging and very practical.

First Timothy is the longest of the three Pastoral Epistles so named because each is addressed to an individual pastor from Paul with an interest in building faithful congregations. Paul's primary concern is to impart practical advice to help Timothy form a faithful congregation. Lots of wisdom gems in this very short book of the Bible.

The reading of God's Word is so remarkable that there is nothing that I can say to make it any better. Please, if you are a lost soul, turn to God! He can heal you and give you the greatest peace that you will ever know!

Excellent information concerning treatment of people and leaders of the church. Paul emphasized to Timothy, a new minister of Christianity, the importance of recognizing false "prophets".
