For the Sake of Warwick Mountain

Rate this book
Most people dream of winning the lottery...

Rebecca Warwick dreams of health care. A clinic for her small community in the Blue Ridge Mountains that is fully funded and fully staffed. Though she never thought "staff" would include Hollywood's Dr. Wonderful, Matt Tyler.

Matt is everything Rebecca isn't - stylish, smooth-talking and wealthy. He belongs in Warwick Mountain about as much as the schoolteacher belongs on Rodeo Drive. Yet the residents of Rebecca's village desperately need his expertise, and for the sake of Warwick Mountain, she opens her home to the handsome doctor. But as she welcomes him into her home, she wonders if she can keep him from entering her heart...and taking it with him when he leaves.

CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS has loved a good story since she learned to read at the age of three. After years of teaching that love of books to her students, she now enjoys creating stories of her own. Often her books are set in one of her three favorite places—Montana, where she and her husband spent their honeymoon; the mountains of North Carolina, where she has a summer home; or Florida, near the Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s west coast, where she’s lived most of her life.

I kept feeling like I'd read this before, but I haven't. Just bits and pieces of plot that felt vaguely similar to other stories. The heroine is a school teacher preparing for the visiting doctor to come stay with her while he treats the local folks in her remote Smoky Mountain town. But her elderly friend doesn't show up, He's sent his young studly partner instead. The locals still have 19th century standards of morality so he can't stay in the heroine's house, and because of a scandal-mongering magazine article naming him Dr. Wonderful, plastic surgeon to the stars, they don't want to let him treat them or their children either. The story is about how he gets past the town's --and the heroine's --suspicions. I enjoyed the story, though now, thinking back on it, the conflict seems a tad vague and undefined. Or maybe the resolution of the conflict feels that way. It's a good story, well worth reading.

This was my first time reading a story by Charlotte Douglas and enjoyed it very much. A remote town with kind people, a single mother and her daughter and a handsome doctor. Nice combination.

A very nice modern read that I enjoyed. It is a classic romance novel with no sex scenes so it reminded me of the romance novels from the 70's to 80's. If you are looking for something that is old school than pick this book up.

This book was refreshing. I loved the characters and the way the community bonded together. I live in
a small town that use to be like this. Now strangers have moved in, and its just not the same. Brought back memories of the good times. 5 stars.

A good romantic read like the ones I used to read years ago. I really love this line of books because of their in depth stories that allow the author to develop the characters and the story to a satisfying ending. So much nicer to have a real romance where they don't hop into bed on the second page when they don't even know each other let alone like.

This is my friend on the cover, and let me say that that is the most interesting thing about it. I've seen better books used for fire kindling. But this one is too wet from all the lonely female pants it's been in.

Pretty good story, all told. I just prefer my romance to keep it's feet firmly on the ground, and toward the end this one got more into the "crazy dreams come true" area.
