We all know the back story of the hero of Stay The Night, but unless you've read Viehl's Darkyn Novel titled Evermore, you haven't gotten the complete story.

In Viehl's world, Robin of Locksley is a Darkyn Vampire. Living for hundreds of years, his business is still the same- rob from the rich and give to the poor. His arch enemy- Guy of Gisborne- is also a Darkyn Vampire and he hasn't given up on hunting the notorious Robinhood.

Robin's story moves into present day when FBI Agent, Chris Renshaw, takes it upon herself to catch the famous allusive thief the FBI have dubbed "The Magician". Expecting a man much older than the handsome devil who slipped into her net, Chris has no idea that her prey is within her grasp. Certainly she had no clue when she gave into the instant attraction she felt for the intriquing man- for one night only.

Robin cannot believe that the art dealer who owns the treasured manuscript he needs to get his hands on ditched him before morning even arrived- especially after the hours of passion they spent together. But slipped his charms she has and for the first time in years, he finds he cannot get a woman out of his mind. When he discovers she is in fact an FBI agent out to catch him, his ire rises even higher.

Thinking to catch her in her own trap they, Robin is taken by surprise when the artifact is stolen out from under them by Guy of Guisbourne. But Guy is not the ultimate villain he's been made out to be and there is more to the manuscript than any of them could imagine.

In the Stay the Night, not only do we discover the kind of woman who is able to win the heart of the infamous Robinhood, but we also get a fast paced thriller. In addition, Ms. Viehl ties up a plot line arching throughout her Darkyn series. That's right, the lovely Alexandra, mate to Michael, the powerful leader of the American Darkyn, (If Angels Burn), finally discovers the cure for the Darkyn Pathogen.

But will she wield it and turn herself human again or will she sacrifice it all for love.

Ms. Viehl has created a world you want to come back to again and again. And thankfully, despite some misleading claims by the author, it's not the end to the Darkyn world.

One thing I love about Lynn Viehl, she enjoys a little cat and mouse play with her readers- especially in this series. At different times, characters will make an appearance and not tell us their full names. Every time that happens, I know it's upon us to discover who he or she is in history- real or in the literary world. One such character makes an appearance in Stay The Night. (No, not telling who, you'll have to discover for yourself!)

Although Stay the Night has it's engaging moments, it's not my favorite Darkyn novel- Evermore/Twilight Fall still holds that place for me. The sexual tension just wasn't high enough between Chris and Robin to to give the story the measure it needed to thrust it ahead of the pack. Still, Michael and Alex have one scene together that turned out to be one of the most intimate, erotic scenes I've read in a long time.

Looking forward to wear Ms. Viehl takes us from here.

This series has suffered from the 'original sin' (I didn't like the heroine of the first book), and I have read it in chunks all out of order which has not helped. Still, I came gradually to enjoy it, and I admit it's a pity we had such a shaky relationship :)

I'm sorry to see it ended, there were so many stories I would have liked to read, from John onward. The spin off Kindred wasn't a success for me (again first book/sin syndrome...), I wonder if the Lord of the Kyn is any better.

I love this author voice, pity she's working only as a ghostwriter these days.

I decided to do one review on this entire series of the Darkyn books by Lynn Viehl. I found them to be intriguing from the first one "If Angels Burn" right through to the final chapter "Stay the Night." Alexandra Keller is a first-class reconstructive surgeion, who is drawn into the world of Michael Cyprien, who is the head of the vampire jardin in America. Michael needs her expertise to reconstruct his face, which was badly mangled by a group of individuals who were on an ageless vendetta to destroy the vampire race. One thing leads to another, and soon Michael realizes that Alexandra is the soulmate he has been searching for, for centuries. However, even though he turns her, Alexandra searches for a cure for the vampire curse. Will she find it? For that, you must read the books!
I enjoyed the continuity of the main characters, as well as the addition of new characters spotted throughout the series. I liked the modern day setting, and the touch of historical background as to how the vampires came to be, but I won't give that away, either, because that would spoil it for the readers.
I would suggest, if anyone is into the vampire genre and wishes to read a series that won't keep them awake at night, (unless it is to read another chapter), that they embrace the Darkyn series, and make sure you have all 7 books because you will want to keep reading.

7th and final Darkyn Novel, but don't fret it's not really the end
I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the Stay the Night. I liked Robin, we met the infamous charming thief of Robin Hood fame two books ago in Evermore: A Novel of the Darkyn (Signet Eclipse). Robin's love interest Chris is the perfect torture for him, a woman who is totally immune to his Kyn power of charm. As an FBI agent out to catch the Magician, as Robin the thief is known to the art world, Chris is also the nemesis to Robin's thieving self to boot. I liked that Robin had to work to win Chris' heart despite the obvious chemistry - it was amusing to watch his affront when he wakens after their initial joining and discovers that He is the one who has been used. It was also entertaining watching him try to get through Chris' disbelief to convince her of the existence of the Darkyn. Actually I still liked the second half of the book but in the end the romance with Robin and Chris feels less finished than usual - I wasn't sure whether Robin was going to be spending the rest of his 'new life' in prison. The resolution of the centuries long conflict between Robin and Notingham (Guy) in this thread was a nice touch though.

As usual the romance shares the story with Alex and Michael's(the leading pair from when If Angels Burn: A Novel of the Darkyn (Signet Eclipse))continuing saga. I know some readers don't care for Alex but I have always liked her snarky forthrightness in dealing with all of the medieval macho Darkyn men. Alex's intelligence and ability to put things together is part of why I've always had a fascination for this series even when they occasionally were a bit dark for my tastes. And here, Viehl totally caught me up in Alex's frustration at being back in ruthless Darkyn King Richard's sphere of influence, he is despicable as always. But it was worth the frustration to watch the Alex neutralize yet again the threat Richard presents and to see her deal head on with a ghost from her past by confronting Korvel the Darkyn who would still bind Alex against her will if he could.

Stay the Night, is less dark than most of Vielh's Darkyn novels. There is less violence in this one with the evil Brethren working their torturous plots off screen - we only see the survivors and their hideous injuries. Normally the violence is what makes me qualify my recommendations of Viehl's Darkyn books, even though I find Viehl's writing extremely interesting. But this time my heads up to would-be readers is for sensuality instead of violence - though there is a reason why we need to know that Phillipe, Michael's seneschal, prefers men to women - the explicit scene in which Phillipe 'crosses swords' with another Darkyn, means that this still is not the book for everyone.

Since Stay the Night is the `last' Darkyn novel, Viehl ties up some threads with Alex, her search for 'the cure' and the secret behind the Brethryn's experiments on orphans. But Viehl leave other threads hanging and unravels a few more for John and Guy, but the Darkyn are supposedly done so Viehl is stringing us along to the start of a new connected series. There is an except in the back of Stay the Night for the Kyndred, who are up next with Shadowlight coming November of 2009.

Disappointing ending to an otherwise good series

I enjoyed the continuation of Michael & Alexandra's story, as well as the plotlines around the new Kyn creations of the Brethren. I would have liked more interaction between them--so much focus was on her research and work as a doctor.

I was disappointed with Chris, the FBI agent that Robin falls for. She was so bit*chy and self centered, I didn't like her and didn't buy into Robin falling in love with her. He's such a good character and she definitely wasn't good enough for him. When more than a hundred of his people were at risk, all she could think about was a stolen book and her partner. She constantly fought him and whined. Talk about an annoying lead female character! Also the Epilogue was just plain weird. I didn't get it. Not a strong conclusion to the series.

I liked this book a lot, but was slightly disappointed with the ending. The author has said that this is the last book in the Darkyn series, yet there were several loose ends that weren't resolved. Overall this is a great series. The characters are believable and engaging, and the writing is excellent.

I was also lucky enough to have won my copy of this book in a contest on the author's website. And it's autographed!! Woo Hoo!!

Hm, I'm just not a fan of historical figures still being around because they are vampires. I don't think I would bother with more in this series.

The Setting — in this one also jumps around a lot. One moment you’re in Atlanta, the next Rome or Venice or Chicago or London ~ you get the point. Current day, not too much out of the ordinary, really.

The Characters — *sigh* are probably my love obsession with the books. Stay the Night features *drum roll please* Robin Hood ~ as a vampire. Yup! How awesome is that? I liked how Robin evolved from just our lovable thief to a dark character with lots of appeal. I especially like how Special Agent Chris – just walks away from him. Again, another take-charge female in the books that I really liked! This is the last book of the series so there are tons of characters seen before, like Nottingham and Chaucer, and Alex and Michael, and so forth. I really liked how finally we get more of a glimpse into Lusia – finally! Even though I still wish more of her story was shared. I still can’t help but not-like John Keller. Sorry, yes, I dislike the former priest. At one point I really did not like Alex in the book. At the end – if you’ve read them you know what I’m talking about – it was just sort of like, can you be any more selfish? I bounce back and forth between liking and not liking her because even though she does a lot of good, she would be a pain in the arse.

The Plot — was fun and dramatic. Things are stolen, peoples lives are in danger, they’re on the brink of war ~ and I especially like how the books don’t exactly have an ending as far as their ongoing war with the Bretheren, but that things are resolved for the characters and they can all move forward. I think most of the stories center on the importance of decisions; not that these are morality writings at all, but they each feature characters who must make decisions, sometimes desperate ones.

Anyways, I still want to read the three Darkyn novellas so those are forthcoming!

Good read. The primary plot brings together a federal agent trying to track down a thief the Feds call the Magician and the archetype of all thieves, Robin Hood. Throw in bioterrorism, revenge, and secrets long buried...

A good conclusion to the Darkyn series and less dark than some of the earlier books. I enjoyed the interweaving of Michael and Alex through the series, gave everything a great sense of continuity. A new series about the Kyndred [related to Darkyn:] is nicely teased.

Order is very important in this series.

Darkyn
1. If Angels Burn (2005)
2. Private Demon (2005)
3. Dark Need (2006)
4. Night Lost (2007)
5. Evermore (2008)
6. Twilight Fall (2008)
7. Stay the Night (2009)

I wanted chaotic straight mass market romance, and my god if this wasn't chaotic straight mass market romance.

This was a lot of fun. I actually really enjoyed the big cast of characters and all the different plot elements moving around. Surprisingly, I wasn't even that lost even though this is the last installment in a seven-book series.

The main couple in this book, Chris and Robin (who turns out to actually be THE Robin Hood, wild), are far from the most interesting thing in this book. They're super chaotic and horny, and made me laugh more than anything else, which is honestly exactly what I was hoping would happen.

Getting to see from the POV of so many other vampires was actually super interesting! I was curious about the sickness that affected the Darkyn, about all of their politics and scheming as they met together in London. It was even cool to spend a bit of time with Phillipe, the right hand vampire to the American lord, and see his perspective as a gay man trapped in a world of exceptionally macho vampire lords. By far, my favorite perspective was Alex, the American lord's partner and the only Kyn doctor. Her interactions with the elitist vampire court and particularly the high lord Richard were very engaging.

Were there some things that went over my head because I didn't have context from the previous six books? Sure. I still had a great time.

I would have liked a glossary of some of the specific darkyn words to help understand relationships between people.

This book stared good and I flew through the first 100 pages then it sadly started to drag.

Undercover for the FBI, the heroine will stop at nothing to apprehend the art thief known as the Magician. The criminal is responsible for the suicide of her dead parent as the man has the gift, if seems, to make people think and do whatever he wants them to. Staking out a bar where the Magician is known to frequent, the heroine instead finds herself in the presence of a very handsome, very rich, very alluring Englishman. Dedicated to her job and not one to engage in one-night stands, the heroine surprises herself by agreeing to join him at his penthouse for sex. Something about him draws her in and in his arms, she has a cure for the loneliness she feels- even if it is just for the night. The next morning, she's gone and back on the hunt for her thief. Staging a trap with an ancient manuscript as the bait, the heroine is stunned when her one-night stand shows up. While he is seducing her in the back room, the book is stolen. And to top it all off, her lover admits to being the thief she's after but not the one who has stolen the book. That is his enemy- a cousin who shares a deep seeded hatred and bitter sense of betrayal towards the two of them over a woman.

Blackmailed by a third party to steal back the stolen book else the hero's people and the heroine's new partner be killed, the hero is forced to kidnap the heroine to Rome in search of the artifact. From the first second the hero laid eyes on the stern no nonsense red head, he felt a connection to her that he's never felt for any other woman. She's immune to his charms and compulsions and at first this is the source of his intrigue. But quickly his feelings for her go far beyond intrigue or even hurt pride over the fact that she left him the morning after their love making without a word. Instead, he grows to love her almost from the jump despite the fact that she's human. Despite the fact that she's stubborn and completely disregards his claims to be a vampire. Despite the fact that she also disregards his claim to love her after only days of knowing one another. No, the man who's been thinking of nothing else but getting the book and seeing his love again for so many years realizes what true love is and that it's right in front of him.

But the heroine is a completely different story. Though she desires him and secretly holds feelings for him, she is far too level headed to make such a fool of herself. She was so funny. In fact, her even keel personality and cop mentality kept me smiling from start to finish. She didn't roll over for anyone and spoke her mind quite frankly in every situation, calling the hero delusional for the longest time for believing himself to be immortal. And every time the hero makes a stupid choice, like drugging her to make her sleep or trying to lock her in the apartment without any clothes, she let him have it. She even fought him when he denied being involved in the death of her partner. I adored her as a character. It had me smiling at the fact that being surrounded by dramatic and childish feuding vampires saw her be the middle man-the one person with a cool head and zero tolerance for their stupidity.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised just how much I loved this story. This author for me hadn't had a very good rating average-at least in my books, but this I felt was a home run. It was so funny without being a 'comedy' and I thought the characters were well developed and well suited for one another with a great degree of chemistry between them. The one flaw I found was the heavy amount secondary characters and just how much time was spent on them when instead I would have loved it spent on the two main characters. But regardless of that, I thought this was the best book by this author that I've- by far.

"Stay the Night" by Lynn Viehl. Book 7 of the Darkyn series. *finale*

So this is the last book in the Darkyn series and I really enjoyed Robin and Chris's story. But this is not the end of the Darkyn....I know there are two more series' after this: the Kyndred series and the Lords of the Darkyn trilogy. And I'm SO glad there are more stories but I'll tell you why at the end of my review.

I was really hoping that Robin would get a happily ever after because I was wondering why he wasn't happy already. Robin is the legendary Robin Hood in this book and was introduced into the series a few books ago. We all know the movie versions of Robin Hood where Robin and Maid Marian live HEA but that's not the case in this series. I'm not sure what the true Robin Hood legend is now that I've read this book because it's not a happy story. Robin's history in this book is much darker and quite sad. The author, Lynn Viehl, does an excellent job of mixing the Robin Hood legend with her Darkyn world. It completely made sense.

Robin is a Darkyn and has been for 700 years. He's become an infamous art thief in present time and he's after a very valuable book. The problem is that the FBI are on to him. They know what he's after and have set a trap for him. He just didn't expect the woman he had a one night stand with to be the agent that is trying to arrest him!

Chris is an FBI agent on a mission to bring down the infamous art thief known as The Magician. The trap has been set and now all The Magician has to do is take the bate. What she didn't expect was to learn that her one night stand with a man named Robin would turn out to be the man she has to arrest. But the facts don't add up...The Magician's crimes date back 50 years which would make him at least 70 years old and Robin is certainly not that old. Oh...and he thinks he's a vampire!

Soon Robin and Chris find themselves working together to find the book and Chris finds herself in a world she never knew existed. The twists and turns in this story are mind boggling at times. I found myself thinking "Wait, what!?!" but in a good way. The story kept me interested all the way through. The chemistry between Robin and Chris was really quite combustable. The ending was absolutely fabulous!

The only issue I had with this book is that some sub-storylines are NOT FINISHED!!!! I don't like giving spoilers so I'll just say that in one subplot you are left with a cliffhanger mystery and in another sub-plot I was left wanting to know more about what happened to a particular character. So this brings me to my comment at the beginning of this review. I'm so glad there are more books about the Darkyn world because I'm hoping that these open-ended subplots are going to be addressed in the coming series and trilogy. NOTE: At the time of this review, the whole Kyndred series and the Lords of the Darkyn trilogy have already been written. So, I'll keep you posted if these subplots are continued in these other series.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this last book of the series. It started off a little slow but I really ended up enjoying the series as a whole and I will obviously be reading the next series, The Kyndred.

It seems that Lynn Viehl is trying to take the route of J.R. Ward and turn what was a good paranormal romance series into a mediocre urban fantasy.

Mediocre. That's what Stay the Night had written all over it. This was to be Robin and Chris's novel but just like Lover Enshrined(which was everybody's book but Phury's) this is everybody's book but theirs.

We figure out pretty early that Rob (or Robin) is Robin of Locksley (aka Robin Hood). And he's got a grudge against his cousin, Guy (who is Sherwood - of Sherwood Forrest fame). But we don't find out until MUCH later why.

Then there's Chris Renshaw who is a FBI agent. We don't get all the details but they are setting up a sting to capture a criminal known as the Magician. (This Magician as you can guess is Robin). But upon scoping out a bar to meet the Magician, Chris runs into Robin. Robin tries to work his Kyn flower power on her and it doesn't work. But he still propositions her to spend the night with him in his swanky downtown Atlanta highrise condo.

Of course Chris goes even though we aren't given a lot to work with on her emotional provocation for this. They kiss for a while and then she wakes up the next day. We are completely cut out of the equation. In Lynn Viehl's previous books, we were always given insight into the characters (why Valentin did this, what Jayr was thinking at this point in time, and what the impetus for Michael's actions on this matter were). But we were given NOTHING to go on for this story.

At one point, Chris even mentions his "vine tattoo" around his neck that someone had kind of messed up. Now it took me a while to figure out that he didn't really have a messed up tattoo. He is Kyn. He's allergic to copper and someone clearly tried to garrote him with barbed wire made from copper.

There is a plot even though it's murky. Our suspicions on Jayr's parentage are confirmed. And there is more of Michael and Alexandra's relationship shown and expanded upon than anyone's.

Seriously, the best part of this whole novel was the "scene" between Michael's second, Phillipe, and the second of a Chinese Kyn. Though it's not my cup of tea, the male on male action was the best written of the whole novel.

And to hear that this novel will be the last in the Darkyn series makes me think that Lynn Viehl was just trying to get the book finished and off to her publishers. I was very disappointed in this one.

Half the book is a repeat of ‘Twilight Fall’. It probably made it easy for Ms. Viehl, but is very repetitive and boring for us, the reader. Half the book were repeated scenes that occurred with Robin and/or Chris in ‘Twilight Fall’, only now we get the filled-out story through both Robin and Chris’ POV. It’s only until they get to Rome and Venice do we get new, very interesting scenes. The new parts are very good, though somewhat predictable.

I just don’t feel the connection between Robin and Chris. He’s very cavalier about other people and their possessions. He’s a classic Robin Hood, maybe just a bit too predictably so. I liked him in the previous books, especially at the “Knight’s Realm’, but this makes me not want to like him. Even at the end, even though he saved the day, Robin just seems like the last person to make the final decision he did.

Chris is very resourceful. Robin completely underestimates her. But then all the Kyn males underestimate the modern females. It’s partly the older Kyn females fault, clinging to the old ways and letting their men treat them as property. She really opens his eyes to what ‘females’, especially FBI agents, are capable of.

What makes reading this worthwhile are the wonderful scenes of Michael & Alex’s trip to London. I always enjoy the parts with Alex the best throughout the series. Her ongoing search into the origins of the Kyn curse/plague is fascinating to me and it reaches an especially intriguing high in this book. It’s a shame that she hit a roadblock, but she’ll work around it. But some of the clues that she finds seem to be awfully convenient. I can’t wait to find out how Jema fits into all this.

Then there’s the mysterious Shadow Prince and his connection to Luisa. That’s going to be interesting story.

Quick Thoughts: 1) love the natural, outdoorsy style of Robin’s Atlanta building and penthouse.

2)The scene where Robin and Nottingham try to get Chris warm reminds me of the interaction between Jacob and Edward on the freezing mountain top with Bella in Eclipse.

3)The history behind the book turns out to be interesting, though I was cringing at the treatment of it. I’m glad Chris ask Richard to take care of it.

4)I never did figured out how Norman fit into everything. Who was he working for, etc.? I know it was partially explained at the end but, still left me confused.

Fave scenes: Alex’s reaction to seeing the burned Kyn, Chris escaping from the Rome apartment, Alex confronting the high council and Alex explaining to Robin what she did to him.

Robin of Locksley is one of the Darkyn kind and has been stealing from the rich for centuries. His Darkyn powers will help him with these cases, but it also leads the FBI on his tail, especially when they think he is involved with the disappearing of priceless art work.

Chris Renshaw is a special agent for the FBI and she’s lead the operation to find this “Magician” who steals all those art works. So she goes undercover as an art dealer and decides to use “The Maiden’s book”, an ancient manuscript as bait.

Robin wants that manuscript for as long as he can remember, but it appears he is not the only one. There is someone else that wants this book as badly as Robin wants it and that person won’t stop for nothing. So when the book is stolen, Chris and Robin has to work together to get the manuscript back.

Stay the Night by Lynn Viehl is the seventh and final book in the Darkyn series and one I was really looking forward too. I was curious to see what she had in store for Robin of Locksley.

As in the previous books this one has multiple points of views, you’re not only see Robin and Chris relationship grow, but we also see another couple who returns in every book, Alex and Michael Cyprian. I love to read about those two and see their relationship grow through all the books.

The relationship between Robin and Chris has his ups and downs, because on one side we have the master thief who has the need to help the poor and steal from the rich and on the other side we have the determined federal agent, who won’t stop till she caught the thief. Chris also blames “The Magician” for the death of her partner and doesn’t like his way to charm people around him to give him exactly what he wants. But we know love conquers all and they find a way to accept their fate.

The only downside of this novel was the too many shifts and I found myself irritated when she shifted to another couple or settings when you really wanted to continue reading the current view. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t like the book, in fact I liked it. The ending was great and we know for a fact that there will be a spin-off, so we can learn more about all those others.

Stay the Night is great to read and I know for sure Lynn Viehl did a great job ending this series the ways she did.

I can honestly say that after reading every single book in this series, I did not expect all the twists in Stay The Night. How the series all start, making it seem like it was just a random coincidence that a human made the change after so many centuries.
In this book we have as main characters Chris Renshaw and Robin Locksley. We've come to known Robin from the previous books and I can honestly say this was one of the books I was looking forward to reading the most. Chris is an FBI agent, assigned to capture a well known and old art thief named the Magician by the authorities. It so happens that Lord Locksley is said thief. After their first encounter both became infatuated with each other with no other apparent reason the chemistry between the pair since Chris cannot be affected by Robin's talents.
I was satisfied with the turns in the book and have no complaints. Although I do have a few doubts that will be hopefully answered in some of Viehl's other Darkyn related series. These three doubts are perhaps the ones that are giving me the dedication to continue reading Viehl's books. What happened with Lady Marian's body if she was not buried...? I suspect she might be Kyn; however, what plot does the author have in mind with this character is still a mystery to me. And it is clear that John and Luisa are some of the most important characters towards the end. Because not only did John made the change into Kyn but he's also sharing dreams with Luisa, who happens to have visions about all of the vampires we've come to known. It seems like all of us readers finally find the truth behind why the Brethren attack her at the beginning of this book; however, the end will certainly leave us wondering what is there yet to come. And my third doubt: what is to happen with these other women and one man that are able to make the change from human to Kyn? I have a nagging suspicion that these doubts will be answered in either her Kyndred novels or in her Lords of the Darkyn series. I am definitely looking forward to reading these books and having some- all of them if possible- doubts cleared!

Stay the Night is #7 in a series entitled Darkyn. What I really liked about this book is that, #7 or not, you don't have to read the prior novels to enjoy it. Admittedly, there are times something would have been a bit better with more background but this was a great book and now I'm going to have to go visit half.com to get the other 6! The characters in the book run true to historic form in many ways and it was interesting to see how they were coping with the 21st Century.

Chris is a Federal agent assigned to catch “The Magician” - an thief extraordinare. An older man with grey hair who, while robbing a bank caused her partner to kill himself with just a word. She feels the suicide is somehow her fault and she volunteers to act as a gallery owner to attract The Magician into attempting to steal a priceless book. A couple of issues: the priceless book is the real thing, not a forgery (“...Using an irreplaceable, priceless artifact that men have been killing one another to possess for the last seven hundred years...is insanity”) and the guy she slept with the night before is the thief. Better yet, the book is stolen from them - but not by....
...Rob Lockley (that’s right - Robin Hood!) He’s been around for centuries. He is a damn good thief and a better lover. He is also a Darkyn Lord (read: vampire). He falls for Chris before he knows her background and takes her with him to recapture the book for a woman who will kill all of his warriors and humans unless she gets it back.

The thief is Rob’s cousin who hates him for a little situation involving Marian all those years ago. They find him, the woman finds them, she takes the book along with something much more precious. The story is fast-paced, sexy and horrific in it’s battles. Something to keep you reading through the night. I did!

I like Robin and Chris together but felt a lot of their story was detracted from because of all the loose ends the author was trying to tie up in this story. I also kind of hated the fact she let Alex find the "cure" to being Darkyn. I don't know why I hated it but I did like it somehow make the Brethren was even more justified in their horrible methods of breeding their own Darkyn - because it was something curable so those who chose to remain Darkyn were evil? Nope. Hated that plot point.

I also felt shortchanged on the explanation of the Marian/Robin/Sherwood triangle, Beatrice's mysterious burning to death but did she? storyline, John the dark shadow prince and his connection to Luisa and the ever changing appearance of Richard from cat to more human but still a bastard. All of these stories felt rushed and I know the author wanted to maybe make everyone happy with neat tied up bundles but really all in one book? It just didn't work for me. I've heard this is her last Darkyn and I guess that explains the need to finish up so many storylines but instead of leaving me happy with the way each story turned out I found it was more frustrating than if she had just left those extra storylines out...

Oh well. This has never been my favorite series but more a tide me over between other series release dates kinda book.

Robin of Locksley has gained notoriety throughout the centuries as a skillful art thief and powerful Darkyn vampire lord. For the past seven hundred years, it seems the authorities have not been able to apprehend Robin. Another quality Robin has going for him, besides being an art thief is the ability to steal women’s hearts with just one look. You could call Robin a bit of a Casanova.

FBI agent Chris Renshaw has gone undercover to seek out an art thief. She plans to use a priceless artifact called the Maiden’s Book of Hours. In order for Chris to succeed; she will have to team up with Robin to bring down her target. The more time Robin and Chris spend in each other’s company, the strong their attraction to one another gets.

Stay the Night is book seven in the Darkyn series. In my opinion you do not have to read the rest of the books first. Though Robin was supposed to be a heartthrob, he did nothing for me. I did not feel like I wanted him and so this made it hard for me to get into any type of chemistry he and Chris shared together. So when I read the love scenes, they were just alright to me. This same feeling also applies to the rest of the book as well. This story sounds better then it really is. Stay the Night is not one of my favorite vampire stories. Though I would be willing to someday give author, Lynn Viehl another try.

This book is the final installment in the 'Darkyn' series by Lynn Viehl. To be honest, it was one of the ones I enjoyed the least.

This book revisits some of the characters and themes last seen in 'Evermore'. Robin Hood, a Darkyn lord, finally comes to terms with his past and his feud with Nottingham and falls in love with a mortal FBI agent (Chris).

In general I found this book to be pretty unbelievable. I just didn't buy the whole Robin/Chris love affair. Like some of the worst Sherrilyn Kenyon books it was a case of meet-soulmate in 10 minutes type of affair. In other books in this series Viehl did a much better job than in this one.

I was also dissapointed that the showdown I was expecting between the Kyn and Bretheren was completely missing from this book. It seems that Viehl was simply setting up for her new 'Kyndred' series, which I can only assume will be focussing on this theme.

I had also thought that John Keller would have a starring role in this book, but he barely got a mention.

It was quite a dissapointing series finale. Especially considering the quality of the previous books. I might check out the Kyndred books, but I think that I might get these from the library rather than fork out the cash.
