Jaded CEO Adam Lawrence knew exactly how to get what he wanted in business and in the bedroom. When independent, sexy and impossible to ignore Cassie Jacobs dares to best him on a business deal, Adam vows revenge. But how far can he go when the two find out that they are about to become family?
Samantha Chase is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller of contemporary romance that’s hotter than sweet, sweeter than hot. She released her debut novel in 2011 and currently has more than seventy titles under her belt – including THE CHRISTMAS COTTAGE which was a Hallmark Christmas movie in 2017! She’s a Disney enthusiast who still happily listens to 80’s rock. When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading romances, playing way too many games of Solitaire on Facebook, wearing a tiara while playing with her sassy pug Maylene…oh, and spending time with her husband of 30 years and their two sons in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
This is my first Samantha Chase book and I just picked it up randomly. I do not regret it because it's good, it just that it could have been better..
Cassandra Jacobs is an event planner for Adam Lawrence's company. Only when he decided to alter their agreement a week before the event takes place, they had a falling out. Adam struggles with finding an alternative planner to take her place, to no avail. Leading him to crawl back defeated to ask for Cassandra's help but she sets him in his place before she agrees to do it.
Adam's character struck me as a typical CEO, very controlling. Not to generalize of course. But I got that shut-off-from-the-world vibe from him. Which didn't make me warm up to him instantly but I guess that's the point. Now, I had my doubts about pairing him with happy-go-lucky & goody goody Cassie. The girl was like a unicorn compared to him. But then I thought maybe that's the kind of environment he needs to get rid of the stick up his backside. However, is he good for her? the jury is still out on that one. Do I think they're soul-mates? nope. But it's a romance and their happy ending was sweet.
With Cassandra, I had conflicting emotions with her. Normally I think of characters like her as too-vanilla. However, other times, specially when she stands up to Adam, that I find her more appealing. There was no growth for her because she was already perfect.
Overall, this is a very Hallmark-ish novel. Short and sweet and good pass-time read.
Adam subconsciously seems to always go to his woman, "...he realized he was driving not toward his house but toward her shop." Cassie is like the sweetest person, at times I wonder what Adam does to deserve her, “here,” she said. “Take the leftovers for yourself for dinner another night. I know you’ll still have to nuke them, but at least they’re homemade.” Adam is just really over the moon for his girl, "...He wanted to see if she needed anything. Mainly, him." I liked this book, Adam I swear to God was bi-polar or something, but I loved it, it made him Adam.
I love all Samantha Chase books. She has a way of telling a story. This one was no exception, she kept all the feels in this book. Cassie and Adam didn't have a relationship other than a working on, Cassie has a catering business that Adams company uses and is her biggest acct. Cassie is having a hard time working with Adam as he makes demands only days before his companies big event. Little did either know, love would take them both by surprise. I loved this story..
Read as part of: In the Eye of the Storm / Catering to the CEO by Samantha Chase April 2018
In the Eye of the Storm: Another easy breezy story for ya. It’s a work place romance with very little angst. Stephen and Holly were both characters you’d root for. If you’ve seen the movie Two Week Notice and liked it, then you’ll love this little gem. It runs along similar lines. Very heartfelt and fun.
An enjoyable story of two people who never expected to find love as they did. Adam Lawrence is the owner of L S S International & Cassie Jacobs has been the company's caterer for the past two years. At times I found myself wanting to shake Adam because he came across as obnoxious & full of himself. I think he's this way because of his life's experiences & his father leaving him at such a young age that he just built up this tough exterior to protect himself. He doesn't trust easily & definitely does not ever see himself settling down or falling in love. Cassie is strong, fierce, owns her own catering company & has family that love & stick by each other. She's a wiz in the kitchen & pulls off events like a pro. But Adam decides he wants to make changes to the menu for an event that's less than two weeks away. Can you just picture Cassie blowing her cool with this? She needs this job, but it's a matter of principle. This story was well written. I could feel many emotions while reading it & that's what I want from my books. This book had me up & down that I almost felt like a yo yo. All that said, I really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this story but felt like there were a few issues with the book. The point of view changes drove me crazy. I really like seeing both characters points of view, but this book changed within the same paragraph. It even randomly brought in her dad's POV. Tough to follow.
I did like the story and the characters. I wanted to keep reading and find out what happened next. My only other issue was that the ending was WAY too abrupt. No glimpse of what happened beyond their reconciliation. I would have given it 4 stars if it had an epilogue.
One of my favorite sub-genres is enemies to lovers and this story has all the angst needed along with loads of sexy and romantic times. Adam is stubborn and controlling and has a cynical view of people and trust. Cassie is a fun loving but strong, independent trusting woman who loves her family and believes in the good of people. I smiled all the way through this story! A beautiful HEA that had me sighing with happiness.
"Catering to the CEO" by Samantha Chase totally reminded me of the Harlequin Desire books that I enjoy so much. There was a complicated relationship that definitely gets steamy but the transformation of the complicated hero, Adam Lawrence, was great to watch.
Catering to the CEO was such a fun read! Cassie and Adam were so great together! I love their banter and back and forth. Oh, it was fun!
Cassie has a catering business that she loves. Cooking is her thing, the thing she loves, the thing she does for those she cares about, it is her thing. Whenever they have a family get together she cooks. She has been working with Adam and his company for a while now, but her catering business is still new. She can't afford to let arrogant Adam make last minute changes that will cost her too much. Changes that are outside the terms of their contract. She can't back down no matter what. And Adam doesn't take kindly to that. He vows to get revenge on her because he is always right and what he says goes. Only they then find out that his mom and her dad are getting married. So they will have to see each other at family gatherings throughout the years. So maybe they can try and be civil...
Oh, these two were fun. They have that don't really like each other turns to liking the other when you get to know them thing going on. But how can they start something that might end and leave awkward family gatherings for years to come? Especially when Cassie's siblings will definitely have her back. And Adam doesn't want a relationship. He doesn't believe in love. So why does he want to be around Cassie so much? Why does he care how she is feeling and want to be there for her? I really enjoyed reading their story. And their banter was awesome!
*Note: I received a free copy of this book for voluntary review consideration
I was once asked what I thought about the Hero being a Douche......well, here are my thougts Speaking of Douchery… Adam Lawrence. He thinks just because he owns the company, he can treat people like slaves, always wanting his own way, even when he is wrong!!! This time he has met his match in Cassie Jacobs. She owns the catering company that is catering his latest company team building event and Adam wants to change the menu…AGAIN! But this time it is within 2 weeks of the event and supplies for the event have already been orders. This time Cassie can tell Adam NO as per the contract he signed. Adam will show Cassie, he plans on finding another caterer. Well the joke is on him, when he finds out that his mother is marrying Cassie’s father. I LOVED watching Cassie and Adam work through their problems. Reading how once Adam really got to know Cassie how his feelings change for her. This book was another emotional books for me. It definitely had the aww factor, and the sigh factor well as the aggravation factor. That is one thing that I love about Ms. Chase’s books, I know that I will have hours and hours of reading enjoyment any time I pick up one of her books. Thank you SC/KJB for my gift of this book. If you like to relax with a great romance read this book is certainly for you. So what are you waiting for, go hit that one click button and enjoy this book. Thank you for reading my review.
I enjoyed this story as it seems to have a lot of different aspects to it than a typical romance. It was entertaining to watch Adam and Cassie butt heads and for her family to be involved in what turns out to be a unique situation for them. Adam is used to everything being a certain way and getting what he wants as the CEO of his security company. He certainly doesn’t expect anyone to ever question him or give him a hard time. That is until Cassie, who runs her own catering company and has been doing work for Adam, calls him out on an unreasonable request. And thus begins an eye opening experience for Adam and some definite frustration for Cassie. I really liked Cassie from the beginning but it definitely took me time to warm up to Adam. But I did finally get there with him. He becomes more and more human with each interaction with Cassie. I think he just needed someone to shake up his world and open his eyes to what he had been missing. Cassie is so good for him and he is just very slow on the uptake. Eventually they get to their HEA but is is definitely not a smooth journey but one that was certainly entertaining as a reader to go on.
Samantha Chase has done it yet again. There is not one story from her that I have not fallen in love with. Samantha has an incredible gift in her ability to grab the reader from the first page. Her words paint such a beautiful picture in our mind, it makes the reader feel like they are a part of the story, that they are intimately involved with the characters. Her words so genuine and heartfelt, you feel the emotions the characters feel.
In Catering to the CEO we have Adam and Cassie’s tempestuous story. Cassie has provided the catering for Adam’s company’s gathering for the past few years. As he angrily demand changes to the menu after the cut-off date, Cassie has had enough, stands her ground, and walks out - essentially losing the contract. Without going any farther as to not give away the story, this is definitely one you want to check out!
I loved this story. I found this story to be engaging, funny, sweet, emotional and a great discussion on the serious health issue of endometriosis. This story does also follow a CEO, but here both characters own their own business and are both headstrong. What was really neat in this story, was that it was not friends in the background, but rather family. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this story because for quite a while into the story I was not a fan of Adam, at all. However, the way that SC wrote his scenes where he was made aware of his behavior, cared for Cassie, opened up to family, etc. made me change my mind. I also would love to see/visit/live in that beach house. I do think Cassie forgave a bit too easily in her scenarios, but I thought it also worked beautifully for their story and personalities! Can’t wait to read more SC stories!
In Catering to the CEO, Cassie Jacobs owns a catering & even planning business. Her main client is LSD International owned by Adam Lawrence. Right from the beginning Adam & Cassie are butting heads. Rarely have I disliked the hero & kept reading the book. Samantha Chase managed to keep me reading by giving me a heroine & her family that I loved. The interactions between Cassie & Adam were either adversarial & confrontational or chemistry driven & sweet. The interactions between Cassie & her family members shows how sweet, tender & loving she is. By contrast, Adam's interactions with his mother & with Cassie's family just prove how cold, judgmental & condescending he can be. The twists of this relationship were something else to read. Very entertaining!
Adam Lawrence is a boor. He's not a nice person to anyone. Cassie Jacobs is a caterer who caters Adam's business dinners. When he changes the menu for the umteenth time Cassie calls him on it. Tells him pretty much to go to hell. This intrigues Adam as well as angering him. He vows revenge on her company. Now he finds out that they are going to be family!! Now what. Watching Adam fall in love, much to his chagrin, with Cassie is fun. Adam doesn't believe in love so he has no idea what he is doing! Seeing him change his mind is a good reason for reading this book. Samantha's characters always have distinct personalities that intrigue this reader. Another fun love story to curl up with.
Cassie owns her own catering company and Adam currently uses her catering services for his company. Adam is used to getting his own way and everyone basically kissing his butt and when Cassie stands up for herself/her company when Adam tries to make a last minute menu change he finds out she's not so easy to replace last minute. Then life throws them an interesting twist with their parents being involved. I was set on hating Adam from the beginning but when Cassie became ill and he left a work function and took care of her.....that made my heart melt. Though throughout the book his assitude kept making appearances. Their HEA definitely was not an easy one to get to but was well worth it in the end
Adam and Cassie seem like total opposites. Adam is the staunch CEO who doesn’t have time for a personal life and family. Cassie is loved by all and her life revolves not only around her family but her catering business. Not only is Adam one of Cassie’s toughest clients but now he’s going to be a part of her family - with his mom marrying her Dad.
Adam planned on firing Cassie after she stood up to him and refused to give into his demands but the more time he ends up spending with her, the more he starts to see the parts of Cassie that appeal to him as a man.
I loved Cassie from the start. Adam was a little harder to love. It was as if he was bi-polar, but making him the guy you love one minute and hate the next keeps the storyline moving along.
In Catering to The Ceo we meet Adam Lawrence is the owner of L S S International, Cassie Jacobs a professional caterer who has been handling Adam's events the past couple years. When Cassie had enough of Adam's last minute catering changes she quits. Leaving Adam in quite the predicament.
Adam sometimes comes across as arrogant, and demanding. Yet I really enjoyed watching when he finally opened himself up to love.
I really ADORED Cassie's character she's strong, fierce, and doesn't take crap from anyone, including Adam. And I LOVED how close her and her family were.
I really loved the storyline, and the characters in this sexy, sweet novella.
Catering to the CEO Adam and Cassie have worked together for a couple of years, Cassie is the caterer that Adam always uses for his office events and has high demands for Cassie, until he steps over the line with her. Cassie is very trusting with Adam until he hurts her one to many times. Adam is diffently one of those rich controls freaks who you want to smack upside his head for being such a arrogant jerk who thinks he is always right and everyone should do as he says, but Cassie turns his world upside down. I enjoyed both of these stories and highly recommend them to my friends. Another win for Samantha Chase, all her books are wonderful.
Cassie finds herself in a predicament when she needs to break the contract with the CEO she has been catering for, Adam, only to find out he is the son of her father’s fiancé. Now that they are going to become family, a truce is made and the work continues. But seeing her in a different light, Adam suddenly has feelings for her, can he act in them? Or is it best to end both the working and emotional relationships? Samantha Chase once again writes beautiful characters that the reader cannot help but fall in love with.
Great book, lots of chemistry between Cassie and Adam, fun read.
Dropped a star because Adam could be a bit hot/cold, but more importantly I found it hard to get past their soon-to-be step-sibling relationship (this isn't step-brother kink in the least, but I can't imagine going for a relationship knowing our parents were getting married...and literally no one mentions it! If anything, they're all supportive!)

Catering to the CEO was also a great read. Adam is really kind of hard to like with his arrogance and his control issues, I liked him more after reading some of his issues stems from events that happened in the past and how he cared for Cassie when she was sick. I loved how independent Cassie is! I loved how she stood up to Adam! Things progress quickly in this one as it is a short but fantastic read!
Another early Samantha Chase book. I loved the story, but thought that Adam was a bit of a jerk during the first half of the story. He redeems himself in the end. Cassie was sweet and a great cook, but she did so much more than catering. She was almost a party planner for Adam's business meetings/retreats.
A real treat and fabulous story. I loved this story and Samantha Chase!!! She's one of my all-time favorite authors. She never disappoints with character development and story lines. She always makes me feel as if I'm right there with the characters. I read her books over and over. You will not only love this book(s) but all of Samantha's books.
O normally like a closed-off grumpy hero who has never let himself fall in love and has a freak-out as things get too intense, but Adam pulled this s&it multiple times and by the end, I was done with him and was hoping Cassie would be, too rather than forgive him AGAIN and again.
Chase is a good author and has good style but this wasn't my favorite.
Fun story! Adam and Cassie are like oil and water but when they stop fighting long enough to get to know each other, their chemistry flies! I was not a big fan of Adam. He was very controlled and jumped to too many conclusions. I loved Cassie! She was sweet and confident. Very good!
Samantha always has this way of wanting more. I've been a fan of her captivating stories for awhile now and this one takes the cake. I was hooked from beginning to end. The tension between the two characters had me falling in love with them.
Adam is one of Cassie's best clients, but his overbearing attitude finally makes her snap. Adam is forced to realize how much Cassie has done for his business and must face the music. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
