After the Summerland

Rate this book
Teen triplets are shocked when they discover they are the reincarnation of three witches living on sacred land. The land magnifies their abilities, making them more powerful witches – and targets. They aren’t the only ones aware of the power the land gives . . .

Chloe, Kaiden, and Rowan Alexander can’t wait to meet the new triplets that have just arrived in town. They are determined to find out if they are anything alike. The attraction is instant, though they soon discover they share more than just being fraternal triplets – in fact, Brianna, Cian, and Xavier Silvan are also witches with a secret of their own.

They must overcome their distrust of each other and join together to fight a much stronger witch, who wants the sacred land for more than the power it gives.

It’s a paranormal coming of age story where the teens discover the purpose of their existence, explore their new powers, new relationships, and overcome family secrets, all while becoming stronger witches. They must learn quickly so they can protect themselves and the people they love from the force of dark magic bearing down on them.

Chloe, Kaiden and Rowan Alexander discover that they are the reincarnations of three witches. The land they live on enhances their abilities and makes them even more powerful. Another set of triplets - Cian, Brianna, and Xavier - being raised by their aunt show up in town. While having to work together and learn to trust each other, they have to fight against the witch that wants the sacred land for her own benefit.

4.5/5 I'm not even going to lie by saying that I totally loved this! However, it was super slow in some areas. It seemed to drag and nothing seemed to happen, but it eventually picked up the pace. I loved reading about the both sets of triplets and how they interacted. I loved the writing and the chemistry between everyone. I've always been drawn to the Wiccan and Pagan religion, so I love reading about witches and just learning more about the craft. I really look forward to continuing the series and seeing what happens with the teens and how they adapt with their newfound powers.

I really wanted to love this book but as much as I liked it I didn't love it (if that makes sense!). What bothered me was that some parts were so great but other parts read like a list rather than a story. A happened, B happened, C happened. It was off putting. I was going to stick with it and try the second book but it sounds like there is going to be a love triangle and I personally refuse to read anymore of those.

After the Summerland is a great book about a set of teenage triplets who come into their new magical powers and now have to fight to save their home and family. They meet a another set of triplets with magical powers that have moved into town with their demented aunt and become fast friends.

Working together, they form fast friendships with even a little bit of romance. They realize that working together helps to increase their own powers and abilities.

This is a great start for a new series and can not wait until number 2 comes out. This is a series for all teens and adults. The characters are lovable and easy to relate to. They will make you laugh, make you cry and sometimes question their sanity but all in a good way :)

So take the time to check out After the Summerland. You will not be disappointed!

AFTER THE SUMMERLAND is the first book in The Witches of Spring Hill series and we start off in the past. That gives us a little history before we come back to the present, with the triplets now sixteen, and new witches moving into town.

This was an enjoyable story with mystery and mayhem aplenty. The big bad was there causing trouble and without any hook to make you feel sorry for them. That went to Xavier as he tried to protect his siblings and figure out just what was right.

If I had one complaint, it would be when they talked about their powers. I like it when it's spelled out for me, so I don't have to guess what those powers are. For Kaiden just to tell me his are coming in didn't really help. I went back a few pages just to make sure I hadn't missed anything, only to find out a couple of pages later just what those powers were. And why was it "Rowan, of all people," at the end?

I enjoyed watching the teens grow during this book although I personally think they had it a touch too easy. If only coming into power was that easy and straightforward for everyone. All in all, an easy Young Adult story that wraps up nicely.

I’m left with mixed feelings with this one, overall the story was really good, awesome characters you connect with and I like the perspective Ms. Proctor had with triplets.
Witches are one of my favorite types of stories and I really couldn’t wait to start reading this novel as it is about exactly that. The concept of this story is quiet amazing and it was such a fast and entertaining read.
I’m giving her a four as I loved the idea, the plot, the characters and her concept. I would definitely read book two as this was a good start to a series, story wise.
Why I’m giving a three, although this was an easy read, the beginning seemed a bit draggy and some of her scenes were too much ABC. They did this, and this and this. Although please note that it’s just some of her scenes, there were other scenes that blew my mind away,
It was the only thing that that was a bit out of place, other than that, a book worthy to read.

This book is full to the brim with awesome characters. Anyone who likes YA fiction chocked full of magic, mystery, fantasy and a bit of romance will love this book. The story centers around a set of triplets who are the reincarnated souls of witches who are attempting to live their lives in such a way to earn karma good enough to stop the reincarnation cycle. They don't remember their past lives and are unaware of their magical nature. There are others wishing to do them harm so all at once they are having to develop abilities that were totally unaware of and do it fast! The story is fun and fresh and fast moving. I loved the cozy feel to the story and found it impossible to put down until the last word was read. I am so glad their is a sequel! Really good book!

I'll be honest, I'm not a witch fan(This is a girl who still hasn't read the whole Harry Potter series here.), but there was something about this book that made me want to read it, and I'm glad I did, because I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. This story felt really original to me, & I'm looking forward to more!

While the story itself was very intriguing, I couldn't get past the awkward writing style/prose. It really took away from the story as I could never fully indulge myself into it especially when it constantly switched from a third to first person POV. It seemed to me more of an outline of what was happening with some random dialogue thrown in.
