The tragic tale of an artist who puts his art above all else: just another form of addiction. While the artist achieved his goal, he lost, in my opinion, more than he gained. Not really worth even the time required to read.

I was instantly enchanted by the opening and the melodic voice of the narrator. It's beautifully written. However, the were sudden. I didn't feel there was enough build-up there, and the ending felt incomplete--for me, there wasn't enough character growth or struggle.
This is a 3000 word fantasy short story. This is the distant future, when all animal life is dead as well as all art. But on a mountain top in the Swiss Alps a lone artist paints for the ages. When his masterpiece animates itself the world will change. Well constructed, suspenseful and full of surprises!
