The only compensation for cute Yaya’s terminal shyness is the take-no-prisoners vengeance of her alter ego, the raucous Nana. But Yaya doesn’t even know that her Nana personality exists! Now, just as Yaya and nice-guy Moriyama seem ready to begin a romantic relationship, Shûko, Moriyama’s strong-willed ex, shows up and wants him back. Worse, she captures one of Nana’s rampages on video . . . learning her secret, and revealing it to a very shocked Yaya!
The series just goes downhill as it tries to rationalize Yaya’s disorder when it has been handled very flippantly thus far. The comedic beginning of the series does not mesh well with the change in tone this story tries to manage.
My Thoughts: Loved this volume. It was really intense! This volume without a doubt, is the climax of the series as Yaya finally learns the truth about her split personality!
Just imagine finding out you had a split personality? Shuko was right, That would freak anyone out! So Its no surprise the insecure Yaya had a mental break down.
Summary: When an former ex-girlfriend (Who is a lot like Nana) comes to see Moriyama while Yaya is present, Moriyama decides he better admit his feelings to Yaya to clear things up. But instead of admitting his feelings to Yaya, he tells Nana! And Shuko catches on to his feelings for her.
Wheb Shuko finds out Yaya has a split personality, she believes that Moriyama is in over his head falling for only one of the personalities.
After a fight that leads to Moriyama getting hurt to protect Yaya, Shuko decides its time for Yaya to know the truth about herself. When Yaya sees hard evidence of her split personality, her mind can’t take it and it sends her into a major mental break down in which she retreats into herself and Nana takes over.
But how long will it be before Yaya gathers strength to come back while Nana takes charge?
Uhoh! Yaya finally finds out about Nana and freaks out. Only thing that really irked me about this volume was all the bullcrap about Moriyama needing to stay away from Yaya/Nana because she’s “the reason he got hurt.” Um, no. Same dude and his bros kept trying to take her away with him to rape her and she got violent only after he wouldn’t take a verbal refusal and was physically moving her away with him.
Poor Yaya! This volume is pretty dramatic and it left me wondering how one would deal with learning you have a split personality in real life. I'm sure it could be as devastating to some as it was to Yaya. It made me sad :-( And sad for Moriyama. And I was actually angry with Nana for the first time - haha! And wanted Yaya to pull through! I have a soft spot in my heart for the quiet, mistreated type, even if I think Nana is still a bad ass bitch and I want to be her!
One more volume to go! I can't wait to see how it ends!
And, a hilarious panel from when Moriyama was trying to figure out how to tell Yaya about her condition:
Poor demure Yaya is almost surrounded by bullies, but within her resides the strong and aggressive Nana who will fight the battles Yaya can't.
Just when it seems things might be looking up for Moriyama and Yaya deepening their relationship up pops an ex-girlfriend who quickly discovers Yaya/Nana's secret and reveals the fact to the still oblivious Yaya. You'll need to read it to see how Yaya reacts when she can no longer run away.
Nana shines more and more and you can't help but pray that Yaya will find her own strength. Moriyama is such a good guy and I must say I am rooting for him more than the protagonist herself.
I recommend this book/series to any shojo manga fan.
I'm glad I kept with this series. This book shows the capabilities of Satomi Ikezawa - especially in emotion and characterization. Great job, can't wait to read the last volume!
