Witches scheming in the night, Werewolves hunting during a full moon, A vampires eyes ever watching...
This collection of short stories is filled with the dark tales of the supernatural and the powerful. Roaring dragons wings shadow the skies and ghosts aren't as deadly as rumors may tell.
Enter a world of the paranormal, but be warned: not all fairy tales end in a happily ever after.
Leah D.W. lives in South Africa with her family and two beloved dogs. She was first published at the age of 21 and has several short stories in anthologies, two poems and loves to write paranormal romance novels. A proud bookworm and chocoholic, Leah is also pursuing a career in editing and loves to study Greek Mythology. When she isn't writing like a mad woman high on coffee, she spends time with her friends usually drifting through bookstores and watching movies.
Even if you are not fans of short stories you should give a chance to this collection. Each of the nine works (some with a few pages, others with many more) embodies exactly what a few days ago an author said about the short stories that they are the "poetry's deep sigh."
Each story is different and speaks to you differently. They will give you a crumb of hope for a happy ending, but also the sorrow of an impossible love, they will unfold you that the beasts that lie within common people can be more wicked and careless than “actual” monsters or that (maybe) the love is able to heal anything.
Each story is different also by its characters. They are not repeated, and if you meet the same species, be sure that it will have other features. Vampires, dragons, witches and werewolves you will love them all and you will feel their torment, remorse, desire for salvation or consolation, despair and hope, kindness or hate.
Each story is different with different topics and exploiting varied feelings, but all of them create the same melancholic atmosphere, transporting you into fantasy worlds in which you would like and be afraid at the same time to live. Worlds that, the author promises you through little hints, may exist right now, without you knowing about it, worlds where you may wake up in by a simple coincidence or by a game of fate.
Each story is different, but in all of them Leah DW manages to create in few lines a depressing gothic atmosphere that will surely catch you and you will love it.
This is an interesting collection of short stories. I have to say the author has quite an imagination. This group of stories covers everything in the paranormal world or at least almost everything - from ghosts to dragons to witches to werewolves, to gypsies, to many others. Each story takes you on a different journey. This book will appeal to people who really enjoy all things paranormal.
"She hugged herself. Not because it was cold but because she wanted to grab hold of the empty sadness that had crept into her heart and jump right into it, allowing it to consume her in its darkness." I liked this excerpt. It really conveyed what the young woman was going through at the time and gave me a clear picture of how deep her grief was.
I think that any of these stories could easily be made into a full length novel.
This was a great book with some awesome paranormal stories. Vamps, magic, ghosts, and lots more. All the different stories were good. Quite a few of them I would like to read more about. My favorite was Bitter Sweet. I would really like to know more about Alex and Lauren. Hunters that meet while on a hunt and Lauren knows a way to kill all supernatural creatures. My Ghost leaves me made me cry it was so cute. A lost ghost who felt unloved only to find it from the woman who moves into the home she's haunting. Dragonette is a story I really want to know more about. It was sweet and had dragons!! There are many more stories that were great! Review by Carrie of www.faebooks.co.uk
Pretty good short stories. Then you get to the last two that have you/ me begging for bigger stories/ novels. Full Moon Blues and Scent of Magic! Full moon magic was omg awesome sauce ! I loved it so much I messages the author on FB telling her so!! My god wow you just got to read it to understand how wow it is!!!!! As for Scent of Magic maybe not as awesome as Full Moon Blues, but it was good in it's own way. It has to have more to the story! God I hope she does write a novel for this! So much left unanswered. I want to know more!! Way way more!!! Anyway read this compilation of stories!! I'd give it more stars if I could !!!!!
When I first received this book, I guess I forgot that this is a collection of short stories. Very short stories. Some of them were great being short, some were seriously disappointing since they ended so soon. I think this would be awesome if some of these stories were made longer, perhaps novella length or full blown novels. My personal favorite though was the werewolf, seventh son being cursed and all. Was pretty cool reading about that after seeing a Destination: Truth episode about the same legend. All in all, good read. Reviewed by Ashley E. of www.faebooks.co.uk
From beginning to the very end everyone of these short stories had me in paranormal heaven! Not one of them ever let me down as the reader sure there were one or two that had me wishing it had been longer as I enjoyed them so. I am a huge paranormal fan so Unnatural was most definitely my cup of tea.
