Rate this book
A party, hosted by the enigmatic young playboy Thomas, will affect the lives of the many partygoers- including Paul, who comes to the party looking for an escape from his misery and hopefully, never have to face a single person there. But instead, he meets the lively and seductive Abby, who will take him through the party in such a way that changes his life forever.

Say It Ain't So is a tale of debauchery, the mysteries of physical attraction, and how personal pain can be the very thing that pulls us together, or tear us apart.

J.C. Joranco grew up in Rio Vista, California. He is obsessed with highways to nowhere, how people influence each other, the hard wheel of time, and most forms of music. In fact he builds soundtracks to listen to while he writes. He goes camping in the mountains for weeks at a time, to sit and hike and contemplate and get lost. He still buys compact discs. There's a box of books in the backseat of his car. He writes under the shade of a Japanese maple tree in his backyard. He likes breaking the fourth wall, parenthetical phrases, and the many underdogs, weirdoes, wanderers, losers and rebels that populate his work.

I read this in one sitting, since its not all that long. As I moved through the book I felt that I really was in the house with all the characters at the party. 1st person narratives are a bit unfamiliar to me, but as I read on I felt it really helped you understand the mindset of the main character. Something that would have seemed more contrived with another narrative. It worked very well here. There is a point near the end when the tone shifts very much for a little bit. It comes nearly out of nowhere and drives its concepts deep into your thoughts. Something someone had said early on in the book is realized, and it makes you fully aware that you're not just reading about a wild party, filled with some rowdy as well as strange characters. You have been taken on a very specific journey by the author. A journey that makes it point rather well. Cheers to the author. I will most definitely check out what you have in store next. I definitely recommend this one to anyone out there reading this review.

Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. It begins with a guy going to a party to forget his problems. However he ends up meeting Abby and is reminded of the problem he wanted to forget.

I don't know if it's my mood or what but it made me think about my own problems. I usually read books of a different subject but this one seemed very personal for me. "Maybe I just need to grow thicker skin, and just take what I want while I can get it."

As the party continues, Paul's original plan is forgotten by all of the chaos going on and Abby's distracting company. My favorite part of the book was the moment shared between Rick and Paul while watching the news and the scene between Thomas and Paul in the bathroom. Paul was going through a tough time and was so consumed by his own problems that he didn't realize everyone at the party had common ground. This was a very good read and very entertaining!

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. I know nothing of this story before I got the book in the mail. I try not to read other reviews, as to not dampen my idea of a story. Paul winds up at a party, hosted by Thomas, to try to forget his pain of losing his best friend Charley, who died fighting in Iraq. The Plan is all he wants to think about, which is getting so drunk where he forgets all his troubles. he meets Abby and thinks they have a connection. A night of parting and getting drunk might just help you survive or fall completely apart. The story line was good. This is the first for my by J.C. Henderson and I will read more from him.

This book was an all out, up and down roller-coaster of booze, lust, debauchery and life changing moments. It sent me on a journey I had to finish but never knew I needed. This book inspires the soul to dig deep and find what it is your really searching for. This book is a must read for all those people still searching for the meaning in life, so enjoy and good luck. :)

** ARC**. Received this book for an honest review... Paul goes to a party to escape and runs into Abby... She shows him a different out look and test his comfort level. Free spirit Abby lives life fully. I really wanted to enjoy this book but had a hard time getting into it. Writing was good. Story is short and sweet enough...

This novel was quite good and the characters were interesting but the plot was a bit lacking and at points, quite cheesy.
