Loved the series and still keep the books I own close to my heart, it's a shame the books became so rare and insanely expensive/hard to find.

This collection contains volumes 1 and 2 of the manhwa Witch Hunter (as originally published).

Tasha Godspell, known as the "Magic Marksman," is one of the best Witch Hunters there is. But it's not just duty that drive him and his sword weilding, animated jack-o-lantern partner Halloween. Tasha's adventures have a very personal goal beneath them...

Witch Hunter is in some ways standard fantasy fare, with an organization sending specialized agents to deal with perceived unnatural threats (in this case witches). The volume's description even makes comparisons to two of the more popular manga series in similar veins, Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater. The idea is somewhat valid, as parallels can be drawn and there is a certain feel all three series have that is likely to make them appeal to the same general audience (and personally I also see traces of King of Bandits Jing in the style as well), but Witch Hunter has enough unique elements to shine on its own.

Without getting into spoilers, we get a strong central cast introduced in this initial double volume as well as learning some big story points early that are likely to carry through the series. This is a great way to give the reader a nice glimpse of the stakes and allow empathy with the characters even while important information and other plot points are being laid out at a more careful pace. The twists on magic and the rules of the universe revealed so far are interesting, the action is well done and humor and drama are well balanced.

The art is crisp and flows clearly allowing the reader to easily follow action sequences. The reasonably detailed backgrounds somewhat frequently give way to overly minimalistic ones, but honestly I didn't notice that at all until I flipped through the art again to write this review.

Witch Hunter is off to a good start as a fun little adventure series. Looking forward to reading more.

I really love this manwha, I found it once while browsing through the manga section. I have it in paperback, and the story is really addicting to read. Lovable, funny and different characters, not the usual justice-freak you would see in an action-packed clichè adventure set in medieval times, or in this case a different world(? But with the medieval environment. Every time I read the manwha over again, I would find little details I didn't quite catch on the first read. When I'm asked for recommendations, this is one of the first I name.

This was one of the first shounen mangas I ever started! I remember I used to borrow this from the library back in middle school! I'm very fond of this series, not just for the nostalgia, but also because of both the story and art style. In the later books/chapters, you can definitely see the art style progress as well. The only thing I warn against is that, despite the series being out for over a decade, I don't think they ever finished it, at least not the English version. However, if you still want to read it, I highly recommend!

The series follows a Witch Hunter known as Tasha Godspell who wants to become as strong as possible after the events of his past regarding his family. He and his familiar known as Halloween have to fight witches due to them suddenly declaring war against humans one day.

I enjoyed this manga very much. Similar to soul eater, (another favorite of mine), the premise behind is humans vs supernatural beings, in this case are witches. The manga has a nice balance of suspense, dramatics, and humor. Also, the story line has a nice flow were it's neither fast or slow pace.

So this manwha just dives right into the action and there's a lot of it. No real introduction into the story and a little jumpy at first, but it gets better. Definitely would say if you like Fullmetal Alchemist this would be up your alley.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! I have read it about 9 times. I cant help get sucked in everytime I see the cover. I have passed it off to 4 friends and they all loved and cant wait for me to get the next 2 books ( vol. 3-4). Not one factor in this book disappointed us.
Much like soul eater in the action, adventure. Having the character that no one really likes ( Soul eater : spirit, death scythe). Having the really awesome character (Stein) and the incredible two main characters ( Maka and Soul).

Similar in feel to Soul Eater or D. Gray-Man, enhanced humans are fighting the supernatural, but the storyline is more accessible, which would make it good for a younger teen audience...except for the author's raging efforts to make the witches' costumes as risqué as possible, which keeps it on the older teen level. That being said the multitude of variations on the good guys military costume is a fantasy fashion treat.

Not my favorite manga in the world, and certainly a lot of fan-service, but engaging in its own right.
