You'll have to excuse me, I've just spent several hours immersed in Jack and Sydney and I may show signs of withdrawal while writing this review....
This book takes off where Belong to you left off. Sydney is headed out on a European tour opening for the rock band Double Strife with her best friend Sierra. Double Strife, we find out is headed by brothers Kyle and Justin Smith who are hugely popular and used to be close friends with Syd and Sierra. And Justin is one handsome, cocky, and tatted bad boy rocker who once upon a time had some deep unrequited feelings for Sydney. Are you all starting to smell a hint of a little love triangle here?....
Justin is more than happy to push the limits of their renewed friendship despite the fact that she is already crazy about Jack. Not only does he flirt heavily with her, but he deliberately tries to cause strife between Jack and Sydney at every opportunity. The good news is, despite some jealousy and possessiveness, Jack's trust and faith in Sydney holds strong and I loved that about the story. There isn't unnecessary drama due to misunderstandings. It still caused conflict in the book without the jealous/malicious third party causing damage to their relationship.
Jack is, as ever, sexy, protective, and affectionate and I loved seeing them interact with each other and watch their love grow and rather than slowing down, their passion for each other was still off the charts intense and combustible.
" I didn't think there was anything sexier than you underneath me, naked. But fuck, babe, I could watch you all night up there. You sing like an angel and move like the devil. A part of me wants to show you off to the world, but the other part wants to lock you up in our apartment and bolt the door shut."
"Tell me," Jack growled, his face an inch away, his eyes searching mine. I belong to you, Jack." My words came out breathless.
"I love you in pink. I can't see the damn color anymore without thinking of you. Do you know what it's like to walk around for a half an hour with a hard on just because I pass a shirt in that color folded in our closet?"
After her relationship with Michael ended badly, Sydney needs to feel secure in the belief that her relationship with Jack will not change or damage her identity and her reassurance comes from an unexpected source. There are a couple of surprises towards the end that helped to solidify and strengthen their relationship. Overall, I thought this was a great followup. Lots of sexy times and a fun romp through Europe on a rock tour that's sure to keep you entertained.
I adored their HEA and the epilogue put one big grin of satisfaction on my face. And *ahem* did anyone SEE the covers on these books? How can you pass them up? I mean, really.
