Few Are Angels is book one in the series Few Are Angels by Inger Iversen. I read this book as part of the anthology, Powers, Spice and Not So Nice.



Ella Monroe is nineteen years old and has lost her parents. Soon after the tragedy, she begins to have what she thinks are hallucinations and begins to hear a voice in her head. When she has the visions, she gets physically sick. She made the mistake of admitting to these occurrences and found herself in a mental hospital for three weeks. After her release, she goes to live with her parents best friends to recuperate. It is here that she meets Kale, a man who is mysterious yet oddly familiar. It is Kale that explains to her that she is called an Arc and that her visions are of a past life, that she is special with a gift that another that is deadly, wants to possess.



“I know you, but then again, I don’t. I know what it’s like to kiss you, but you always seem to stay at least three feet away from me. I know what it feels like to lose you, but you’ve never been mine.”



Kale vows to protect her but he is keeping secrets, not telling Ella everything she wants to know. There is another that wants to protect her as well, Jace. But he wants to take her away to the council where he says she will be kept safe. Then there is Alex, the son of the family she is living with. She and Alex have known each other their entire lives. But there is a different feeling to their friendship now that they are adults.

“How could he protect me from Laurent’s men if he was constantly trying to protect me from himself?”



This is a very different world Ms. Iversen has created with an evil Dark Prince that wants power, and half vampires called Chory. Kale is a Chory who has lived and loved Ella through her past lives. I had a little trouble connecting with Ella. I felt she accepted these new truths too easily and let things go when I felt like she should have insisted on more answers. The book had a lot of detail about things that I felt were unimportant and at times I felt my mind wandering. All in all, it was an interesting story and the epilogue was very intense.

I will say that I loved every minute of writing it. Was the process hard? Yes it was and at times I wondered if I would ever publish Ella and Kale's story.
When it finally happened I was so excited and nervous, but I think it turned out to be an incredible experience!

Ever since I did an interview with the author last March I've been SO excited to read this book. So when she send the ebook to me, I was thrilled. Few Are Angels by Inger Iversen is one of the best books I've read lately. I loved every page of it. The book caught my attention right from the prologue all the way till the epilogue. It was that good. Beautifully written, with interesting dialogue and equally interesting characters. Iversen created an impressive world in her book that I would love to know more about. I felt myself not being able to stop thinking about Few Are Angels after I finished it.. Even now two days after my mind keeps returning to the story.

The story is about nineteen-year-old Ella Monroe, who after the death of her parents starts hearing a voice in her head and starts having visions she doesn't understand. Everyone thinks the loss of her parents is to blame. But we learn the visions as well as the voice are very real. When she meets the dark and mysterious Kale her world is thrown upside down. Through Kale she finds out what exactly the visions are and who she is and how the Dark Prince, Laurent is after her and her powers to use for evil. Enter Jace, an immortal who wants to bring Ella to the council to protect her and a best friend who develops feelings for her and wants to know what Ella is hiding exactly.Throw in some memories of a past life and you got an amazing story full of mystery, danger, new friendships and romance.

Few Are Angels was really well written and I could clearly picture all the characters and their surroundings which I think is really important in a novel. I loved reading about Ella. I could relate to her and wonder with her about what was going in her world. Lately in lots of YA genres the main character can be quite whiny and annoying. Thankfully, Ella isn't one of them. She just wants to live a normal life without the visions and the voice in her head. She's cares for the Carltons, the people who she lives with now. And she tried her best not to hurt them with everything that's going on. One of the side characters I really liked was Sarah. She and her husband Eric used to be best friends with Ella's parents. So when they died, of course they took Ella in, which I thought was really nice of them. They have two other children. The younger Lea and Alex, who is Ella's best friend, but he's away at college in the first part of the story untill he comes home for Thanksgiving. Alex. I really really liked him. He just sounded so cute and very protecting over Ella. Of course you can guess how he develops feelings for her, which she doesn't know about. Typical best friend, unrequited love. I can't wait to see where that'll go in the next book. And then we have Kale. Mysterious and dark Kale Grey, who seems to have a lot of secrets. I fell in love with him from the start. How could I not? He's amazing. He keeps fightng his feeling for Ella but we all know he can't. They are meant to be together. Him, being a vampire also gives him that dangerous edge we see a few times in the story. I also was quite interested in Jace Vesco. He's incredibly sexy in my mind. He's kind of more a side character but I feel there's so much more to him. The way Jace and Kale can't stand each other is sort of funny. And I loved how Jace and Mia kept flirting. I liked Mia too. She seems vain and not nice at first but I bet that also more to her inside. The book also had a few POV's with Laurent. I loved them. To read what he is thinking and doing to get closer to Ella. There wasn't as much about him in the book of course but I have a feeling that might change in the second one.
The end I had seen coming from miles away. I do't know why I knew it would end like that but I don't really minded the predictability. I was freaking out too much for that. This is one of the reason I couldn't stop thinking about it. I keep wondering what's going to happen now, with not only Ella but all the characters. Alex, Mia, Jace, Kale...

The romance between Ella and Kale seemed a little bit rushed in the beginning, because after maybe two days Ella had serious feelings for the guy, but thinking about how they share a past it kind of fits for them. The romance wasn't overdone in anyway and I loved seeing them together.

I can' t say anything negative about this book because it was so good, other than that it ended to soon. It made me want more. All in all the book was wonderful. It's really impressive how the it's a self-published book. I enjoyed reading it so much even that I went back to reread a few scenes. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves books about vampires, immortals and people who just love paranormal books with a good romance.

I liked Few Are Angels. I really liked the different spin on this particular paranormal. It took me almost halfway to know what anyone was, as far as the supernatural goes. Which is a good thing, it kept me intrigued.

It was action packed, and sure takes you on an emotional rollarcoaster of a ride. The character development was very well done. I see great things to come from this author.
I did find a few slow spots, mainly taking us through Ella’s first day on the job at the grocery store. I didn’t need those details, as nothing at all happened, and was a whole part that could have easily been cut. But it does not take away from the story at all.
This book is not what you think it is by the title, so will say that now. But that’s ok, was a great surprise. I found the new take on this tale quite entertaining. I was pulled into this story along with Ella.

Her visions were vivid, and I would be scared to death if I had them.
We get to learn about Ella’s life, and her past lives, as she has visions of all her past lives, and even spent some time in a mental institution because she would have blackouts and what they called hallucinations. She is called an Arc, and is being hunted down by Laurent, and evil man. Kale is someone who loves her, and wants to protect her, but Jace also is sent to protect her, as her Guardian.

There is a lot more to it, but will let you discover more on that.
I really liked Kale, not only is he super hot, but I can tell he has some very deep feelings for Ella all through her past lives, and even Ella can feel that connection with him. They are true soul mates.

Here is a part with Kale:

“Why are you going to the window?”
His smile was mischievous and sexy as he opened the window and jumped out.
I squealed in surprise, ran over to the window, and looked outside just in time to see Kale—a blur—run into the woods.
“What the hell?” I whispered, shocked and allured by his speed. My stomach trembled at the thought of how powerful he truly was, but excitement pushed it away. My hand still tingled from his touch, and I couldn’t wait to see him again.

Alex is a great character, and I found him very sweet and a great friend to Ella.

Not sure what I feel for Jace, will let you find out about him, he was a mystery to me for the first half of the book for sure.

I won’t say more, so not to spoil anything, as I found the not knowing anything going into this book, was a plus, it kept it really interesting for me.

First Thoughts:

I fell in love with this story, I essentially enjoyed every second of it…I found myself up late in the night just wanting to read it…to know more about what was happening in this unique world. It really captured my full attention and I had no problem with wanting to read it, each part was just as important as the one before it. The writing is captivating and beautiful and the characters were so enticing that I found myself falling in love with them…this book had a really good connection between the story to the reader. This is a story you’ll find you can’t put down.

Plot:

The plot was complicated in a way that it dealt with a new and unique concept. There was an interesting backstory that you learn about as the story progresses. And the ending! Wow, such an intense and cliffhanger of an ending, it literally left me yearning for more…this period of waiting for the next book in the series is going to be a long one. I enjoyed that the story itself was interesting and fun to follow but at times it was a little hard to follow because of the unfolding of the world itself (a bit complicated to explain) The plotline itself was good and I felt it had all the elements it needs to be considered as complete. The concept/idea was new to me but there were parts of it that aren’t…they were just kind of mixed in with the new to create a unique and interesting world. As for the sub-plots I felt they were both amazing and necessary; without them the main conflict wouldn’t make sense; you’d be left in the dark. Some of them were really interesting while a select few weren’t (I could have done away with them but in the end they helped tell the story). As for the pace of the story I felt it to be fast but at times slowed down, allowing the reader a reprieve from the action and time to digest the newest information. I also felt this book was a mixture of the different sub-catorgories of the paranormal…and I found it fun that the different categories clashed together and had to co-exist in some way. So overall I found the plot to be unique and a great aspect to the book.

Romance:

Yes romance is part of the conflict but not necessarily the ultimate conflict. It’s there and it can be gooey at times I won’t lie to you but I kind of liked it. And I know a lot of YA are all about romance and it is getting old but I enjoyed this romance…it was fun to read about and I loved the conflict involved in it. So whether this aspect of the book would affect your decision to read the book is up to you but just know that it was fun to read about and was comical at times.

Characters:

The main protagonist was interesting and well created. I instantly clicked with her; she was filled with so much dark and sad emotion that I instantly felt remorse for her…she had endured the death of both of her parents; I can only just begin to guess at how much that can affect an individual. And yet at times throughout the story I saw a little more than that remorse, I saw a part of her that has been suppressed and I can’t wait to see it resurface and be permanent. As for the other characters they were well created and placed within the story, though there were a few minor characters that could have been taken out of the story (they really didn’t add anything to the overall plot or feel of the story). So overall this was a good aspect to the story.

Transformation of the Character:

There weren’t really any transformations that took place within this first book in the series; it was mainly just the introductions of the characters and allowing the reader to get to know the current character so that in the books to come the transformation can really be noted. But I did enjoy reading about the current statuses of the characters and can’t wait for the transformations to come. So overall this is not a real important aspect of the series yet.

Description:

I really enjoyed the description in this story; it was beautiful and poetic at times. The author did a great job on describing the emotion of the character; she dug deep within the characters mind and used emotion to describe the current status of the characters mental well-being; it allowed the reader to better understand the situation and predict the events surely to follow. The author also did a really good job on describing the scenery, I felt like I was actually there, right alongside her; each little detail helped support the world she created. And like I mentioned earlier some of the scenes had a really poetic feel to it, especially the cabin scene…and I don’t know if it was just me and my love for this author but I felt that some of the landscape description was influenced by the poet Robert Frost, there’s just something about the way she described some of the scenery that caused me to make that connection. But overall I felt there was just the right amount of description and felt this added great texture to the overall feel of the book.

Style:

The author chose to write in one POV (well up to the epilogue) and I really felt that allowed the reader to better connect not only to the concept of the story but to the main protagonist. As for the authors writing itself I really enjoyed it, it was easy to read and I instantly fell in love with the way she arranged the story. One thing else I liked was that at the beginning of each chapter there was a little quote…it just kind of added another element to the story. Also the flashbacks were well placed and created, I had no trouble switching from present to past, it was actually quite fun! So overall the style of the book was good.

Last Thoughts:

I would recommend this to fans of the paranormal and to those who just like a good story. I liked the emotion and writing itself, this was a book that I could get myself lost in; to just forget all stress and worries and become immersed in a world unlike my own. I can’t wait to continue this story, Ella is just a character I have to know the conclusion to and the ending….just WoW. This is an author I’ll definitely be keeping my tabs on.

WOW Inger Iversen is amazing and this story is brilliant beautifully you really fell in love with charaters.I was really glad Inger send me the ebook. this is fresh and different. Ok Ella parents had die recently and Ella is haveing a hard time dealing with everything that is happening.she have a nervous break down at college. now she at a placed where she get help at and try to control her break down so she think.her stay end up being 3 weeks. and now she move in with the Carltons her parents bestfriend. she trying to be as normal as she can but her voice and visions are back she think she gone crazy. one nite she walk max the dog. she see two man fighting with incredible speed. and one of them are hurt.she go up to him and try to help him but he sid don't call no one to help he be all right.so so his name is Kale and he hot she feel a connection to him like she new him all her life.So Ella ask him to come up to her room to tell her the truth about who she really is. Ella see the pass or what to come she a Arcs.OMG i love how Inger told the story threw ELLA but u can see the pass from helene. I can go on and on tell the hold story i almost did that how good it is and the ending wow wow i want more more now I love the quotes in the story to .

I hate giving out 1 ratings. However, this book just didn't really have anything positive about it. I seem to be on a streak with finding books with the worst characters in them. Ella meets Kale and of course finds him irresistible right off the bat. I don't mind insta-love books. However, she has a hard time trusting Kale throughout even though she really likes him. Then you have Jace who she trusts right of the bat but guess what? He is the bad guy. See how dumb Ella is? That's why books like this make me mad. Plus it didn't help that I was bored throughout too.

Is it possible to be interested & bored at the same time? That's the only way I can describe how I felt for a good portion of this book. The beginning & toward the middle, things are very mysterious, intriguing. And there is something about the lead female's voice that just draws you in & makes you yearn to know what is happening around her & why. But once you reach the middle & toward the end things begin to drag with the plot.

I don't know if it's cos she spends way too much time in her head & you're so intrigued by the other characters, that you just want to hear their thoughts, or if it's just the redundancy of some of the dialogue that trips you up & causes things to drag & be a bit irritating.

The premise/plot of the story is a good one. It's quite interesting. It's the way that certain things; (some major, others not so much) that are executed, that I have issue with. On the one hand I had already washed my hands of this series, saying I was only going to read this book. But the last 15 pages, now have me wondering if I should at least give book 2 a try.

So I guess this book was alright when it comes to the plot & some of the characters. But a little more clarity within the intrigue & alot less inner monologue & more dialogue, would have done wonders for this 1st installment.

I had high hopes for this book but I was a bit disappointed. It started off relatively slowly with Ella adjusting to her new life with the Carlton's and being released from the mental hospital. I expected more of a paranormal influence rather than just the appearance of Vampires or supernatural activity. Kale turning up spiced things up a bit but their relationship seemed stilted and as I did not believe in them, I was not invested as to the outcome. Ella seemed very immature and constantly wavered between her feelings for Kale and her mistrust of him yet she believed Jace implicitly where no trust was earned. Kale was doing everything within his power to protect her yet she was this helpless victim where history repeated itself and nothing changed. I would have liked Ella to be more assertive, defend herself rather than just give up and believe in a relationship that had defended her over the centuries.

Vampires!! Yay my first LOVE :] Kale is super hot!!

Let me start by saying, sweet mother, this is a pretty darn good read. I will also start off by saying this story has a very sad, tragic beginning. I literally couldn’t help but feel so sorry for Ella. She is in utter pain from the loss and then her “mental” issues are really not helping. But what would you do if you had a special ability that everyone took for a mental breakdown? I mean, how do you explain that and actually get people to believe you.

Now, I like Ella. Despite the fact that Ella is trying to grieve and put her life back on track, she becomes caught up in a mystery that she can’t deny she is part of, even if she isn’t sure how she is a part of it. In her attempt to put her life back together, things start happening and she is put to the test, not just for her mental capacity with trying to get through it but actually trying to survive something she really isn’t prepared for.

Now, I know I have some past “aversions” to the big V word, those vampers will get you every time lol but this is slightly different. The story is not all based on your typical vampire and the way the story unfolds is quite cool. And it definitely gets more climatic as things are unfolding and Ella is figuring things out. And the writing definitely has something to do with that. If it weren’t written well, you would just be sad. Instead you’re gunna have multiple reactions, or at least I did. I wasn’t stuck in Ella’s depression I was intrigued at what was taking her mind off of it.

And lets talk hotties! First there’s Kale, oh boy. The broken, torn, bad boy every girl dreams of lusting over and trying to fix! And Alex is that perfect boy next door who’s gotten HAWT! Lol so do you go for the boy who’s been your best friend for ages, knows your secrets and has your back, no matter what OR the the boy who is mean, and cold but is there to protect you and every once in a while makes your heart drop! HA!! You’re gunna have to read and pick a team!

All in all, there’s so much to this story and I know the next chapter is gunna be good- if not better than this one, so I can’t wait to read it! I really enjoyed it! I definitely wanna read the next book Big 4.5 PAWS from me!!

Ella is easy to like. I also really enjoyed Kale. He’s the bad, broken boy every good girl wants to bring over and kiss all better. Jace and Alex are both exceptional characters and added to a great well-rounded mix.

The story was well done after we slogged through to Chapter 7. Past that, the story sky rocketed into a whole new realm of fun! The twists and turns! I seriously just had to let myself sit back and enjoy it!

This is a really fun vampire story. It’s not one that would make me lift my vampire book ban for. Had I realized there were vampires in it, I probably wouldn’t have read it. The mythology was pretty neat, so I am glad I read it. My inner geek got a little excitement. But there were definitely spots where I felt I’d already tread a hundred times.

There was one time, before we’d made it to Chapter 7 and before Kale was fully introduced, I literally yelled at my Kindle, “Ella! Haven’t you ever seen Buffy? Or heard of Twilight? Come the freak on, dear heart! You can’t really be that naive!” However, in this alternate universe, apparently, neither of those came out.

I’m only giving this book 3 1/2 dragons because it took me until Chapter 7 to get anywhere with the book. I went past the point I normally give books in order to find the story only because I’d seen so many reviews that were five and four stars. I am glad that I slogged through the first 6 chapters and the prologue because underneath all that is a really great story that I enjoyed a great deal.

The writing was good. The understanding of pace was off. If the first six chapters had been condensed into one or even two chapters, there would have been more space for the rest of the book that seemed to speed off a little too fast. Though, it might have only appeared to be too fast because the beginning was so slow.

So, overall, did I like this book? YES! Would I read it again? Probably not. Should you read it? If you do, just know that the real story doesn’t start until Chapter 7 and the only real thing you need to take away from chapters one through six is that Ella’s parents died. Though, technically, you get this information in Chapter 7.

If you could learn from your mistakes, would you? If you could find your soul mate again, would you? If you could protect the ones you loved, could you? Few are Angels dissects these questions and weaves them into an incredible story.

Ella is grieving, confused, and alone after her parents were killed in a car accident. She is living with her parent’s best friends, who she grew up visiting with her whole life. They make her feel as welcome and comfortable as they can, but Ella still closes in on herself. Ella is hearing voices and having vivid dreams that confuse her even more. She keeps this to herself so she does not spend any more time in the hospital.

Ella meets Kale. He says he is protecting her, from what Ella has no clue. She demands answers, which Kale is reluctant to provide. However, after several circumstances, Kale starts to reveal Ella’s true past, which makes the voices and dreams that she is having finally make sense. She is an Arc, living many lives, and constantly fighting the dark Prince, Laurent who is determined to control her.

Alex, her best friend, finally comes home for Thanksgiving break. Ella meets some friends through her employment. She is trying to live a normal life while staying hidden.

Jace appears as a protector from The Council of Immortals. Jace and Kale do not get along, however, takes turns protecting Ella from the Dark Prince.

I LOVED this story! I find myself not very good at writing a description of the story because I SO do not want to reveal too much. However, this story is action packed. It’s an emotional roller coaster ride learning right along with Ella about her past life, and how much Kale meant to her in that life. She does not want to make the same mistake as before. There is a little bit of a love triangle. This story flowed from the beginning to end, with a powerful cliffhanger. I fell for all the characters in this story which proves that time does not extinguish true love. I truly look forward to this story to continue.

Background: Ella has had some issues lately, her parent died and then she was taken to a mental institution for having weird hallucinations about her death over and over again. We find her now living with some of her families close friends trying to "recover" only she doesn't believe that she is having hallucination to cope, but really having them- so the recovery is going a bit wrong. One night she finds herself outside watching two boys fighting in her yard and her adventure begins.

Review: Few are Angels started out a little slow and choppy, you have mixes story lines and time periods which were kind of confusing, but then it evens out a little more and you are with Ella through her normal life and even some of her hallucinations. I enjoyed the build up within this book very much, however was super disappointed with the story arc overall- it is all build up- the last 2 chapters are the action which leads into the epilogue, so nothing is resolved at all.

I liked the characters Ella is broken and awkward, Kale is dark and mysterious, and Mia and Brett- Ella's friends are your stereotypical sarcastic sidekick and overly self centered jock.

I felt like this story had a lot more emotional action that physical when it came to Ella and her "condition." There are a few moments that I wanted to wring her neck or the necks of those around her for sidestepping some of the bigger issued, but overall this was an enjoyable read.

I am interested in learning more about the bad-guys, because as of now there is very little to go on- I really feel like I am Ella and only being given 40% of the pieces...

Titles can be a little deceiving- if you are looking for a book about Angels, this isn't it. I am guessing it is a play on how innocent Ella is. There are however monstrous people, a Council, and a few vampires and half breeds if you are interested.

Ella’s past is devastating, but her future may push her over the edge. After losing her parents she starts to have visions and hearing voices, which lead to her being admitted to a psychiatric hospital. After moving to live with her parent’s friends, she meets Kale, and her life will never be the same again.

The book is well written and the character development and story line both continually evolve throughout the book, leaving little to the imagination. The reader can easily escape into the story.

I loved the fact that the Epilogue is written from all of the main characters perspectives, gives you a full view of the final fight in the book.

This book will leave you wanting much more of Ella, Kale, Jace, Alex & Mia’s story.

I have a unique perspective in this story, because I live near Virginia Beach, and it just so happens that I also studied at Virginia Tech. These two factors drew me into the story and immersed me that much more fully. Although honestly, this wasn’t even necessary. Inger Iversen’s poetic style and artistic way with words drew me in on their own merit. In her own words, the heroine doesn’t react to events surrounding her in a natural, normal way, and because of this, I had a hard time seeing why she made the decisions that she does at the start of the story. But once the suspense kicks in and takes you for a heck of a ride, this small inkling is soon forgotten. Get lost in a poetic dream of a story. Recommended.

I liked this but I didn't love it. I'm partial to reincarnation/second-chance love stories, hell, a love story that spends the centuries automatically earns 3 stars. But Few are Angels never quite got further than that.

The biggest downfall was that Ella was SO frustrating. She kept everyone at arm's length for so long and yet she fell right into Kale's, a stranger's arms, almost instantly. For someone who is so sick of being called crazy, she had little trouble believing the ridiculous story that Kale told her about her past life.

In terms of the plot, it was interesting and enjoyable but it lacked the suspense and the emotional punch that would have had me racing through the pages to see what happened next.

Loved the overall story! The idea that Kale and Ella have been torn apart by time really just tugs at my heart strings. I love Kale! He is dark and mysterious and I just couldn't get enough of him. The whole time wondering, if he is who he says he is and whether or not Ella can really trust him. There were a few editing issues, but the story helped me to get passed this. I enjoyed getting to know Ella and really like how Inger Iversen shows us the past. Can't wait to see what's coming!

A great Paranormal story with little violence. Ella has lost her parents and had a breakdown. Can she make sense of the nightmares or are they memories of a past life. Kyle who she meets is close to protect her or is he? The story flows well and is enjoyable with many twists and turns. I would recommend it to YA or Adult readers who enjoy Vampires and the paranormal genre.

I have been absolutely excited since I saw the book trailer for this book. Much to my delight I discovered it as a freebie on Amazon / Smashwords. I really enjoy the forbidden love type story and this is a fantastic and exciting book. I never knew what was going to happen and was completely captivated by the story. I could not read fast enough and I couldn't wait until I had time to start reading this book again!

Few Are Angels has an interesting introduction, and I really enjoyed that Ella's current problems were introduced early in the first few chapters. It really helped pull me into the story - I needed to know why this was happening to her. If I were Ella, I would also have thought I was a bit crazy with the visions/episodes that she developed after losing her parents in an accident.

Characters & Storyline: 5/5
Inger creates awesome well-rounded interesting characters. It's easy to love the 'good' ones and even easier to dislike the 'bad' ones. They are memorable and keep you glued to the book.

Main Characters

Ella - The storyline starts off with getting to know Ella while she is trying to cope with everything and figure out what is 'wrong' with her. The first few chapters are great foundation chapters. I connected easily to Ella as the MC and enjoyed discovering her past as well as connecting the dots to her destiny.

Kale - I loved Kale from the very start. Every chapter without him was a chapter too long! He is the brooding, tormented character. You first meet him when Ella discovers him fighting with Jace in her front yard in the middle of the night. He wants to protect Ella the best he can.

Laurent - Laurent is the 'bad' guy going after Ella. Learning about his actions and what led to him seeking out Ella is shocking! I mean - how can he do what he did to his own daughter! There are a few chapters that are from his POV, but I am sure we will get to know him better in the next book.

Minor characters

Lea is adorable and cute. I just want to snuggle and cuddle her as a baby sister. Mia is annoying, but likable. She has an attitude, but can be a good friend at the same time - whether her motives shine through or not. Alex is so sweet and I love how honest he is with Ella.

Plot, Pace, Writing style: 5/5
I was completely hooked from page 1. Inger has a great writing style and her world building is great. The pace was perfect and the plot was very good - a great escape. There were parts that were predictable - but I didn't mind and it didn't take anything away from the story for me. I sort of spoiled the ending for myself *sad face* - I was so eager to see how many books are in the series and I read the blurb of book 2 and unfortunately figured out what happened before I reached the end. It was still a great ending, and I cannot wait to see how things pan out in 'Awakened'.

Final Thoughts:
This was an awesome read and a brilliant escape. I am super excited to carry on with this series.

I was asked by the author, Inger Iversen, to review this book and after providing the me book and reading the synopsis, I was immediately intrigued.

Ella has been dealing with the tragic death of her parents as well as hallucinations that caused her to be hospitalized. The author did a great job in portraying Ella's grief and confusion in dealing with her parents' death and in one of her monologues, Ella expresses how she feels so alone. Ella has no close living relatives and she now lives with her parents' best friends. I felt so much sympathy for Ella and her loneliness. You can feel her sadness and loneliness seep through the pages and that's a job well done from Ms. Iversen.

My only complaint of the novel were with Ella and how she reacted to what she was told. Sometimes her reactions gave me a whiplash. She would demand the truth and when told, she would get mad. There was a scene in which Ella ask Kale to use his seduction on her and in return all she did was get at him for doing something she asked him.

I will say that Ella and Kale have a very interesting history; I was very surprised at how intricate it was. Although there where times were I was confused with how Helene and Kale ended up where they did. The storyline of Helene, Kale and the Dark Prince was so spread out throughout the novel, that it just confused me.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series; I need to know what happens. However, with the way things ended, I have my suspicions of what will happen next.

Ella is one messed up chick! She’s dealing with a major loss, trying to put the pieces of her broken soul back together, and she’s trying to wrap her head around the bizarre stuff that’s happening to her. Did the sane part of her brain really check out for good?

Ella is an extremely engaging character that I think I was able to relate to in some ways. No, I don’t hear voices and think I’m losing my mind. OK, maybe sometimes. But I am the type of person that cares an awful lot about others, and I tend to gravitate toward broken people because I feel like I can do something to fix them. Kale. *Swoon* Alex. Did you catch that swoon sandwich I just had for lunch? ;) Decisions, decisions.

Few Are Angels is a rich, powerful story filled with raw emotion, intensity and one very beautifully crafted storyline. This paranormal romance was nothing like I anticipated, which made it even better. I wasn’t sure who anyone was in the beginning–Wait, that isn’t coming out of my head the same way I heard it. I’m making it sound confusing or off-putting and it’s the exact opposite. The storytelling is alluring like a siren drawing you in with her captivating song, every page I read pulled me deeper under her spell. I almost immediately labeled myself an addict in need of a twelve-step program. There are a few parts of the story which seemed to lag a bit, but overall this is a paranormal romance for all fans of the genre. This is a multi-dimensional story that will tug at your heart, your soul and your mind. If you’re looking for something that blows your initial expectations out of the water, grab a copy of Few Are Angels!

I was pleasantly surprised by Few Are Angels. I enjoyed it so much, I am beginning Awakened right away. The story pulled me in from the first chapter and kept me glued to every word. The characters were very well written and I found myself becoming extremely attached to a few of them. I can't wait to see what happens next, especially with Kale and Ella.

Ella moves in with her parent's best friends after losing her parents to a terrible accident. She is struggling to keep her sanity while hiding the truth from everyone she cares about. She is still having debilitating visions and hearing a strange voice in her head. If she tells anyone, she may end up back in Ocean Trace under the care of Dr. Lithe. I really wanted her to have someone she could confide her secrets with and in walks Kale.

Kale has been watching over Ella for some time. He knows the truth about her visions and what is after her. He fears telling her everything and losing her to the dark forces that are closing in on her. His heart has been hers from before they met. I just loved him from the moment he appeared in the story. He is handsome, mysterious and I just couldn't get enough of him! Kale has my heart wrapped around his pinky!

This story has so much to offer. Good vs evil, past life memories, and oh my goodness so much more. I have to know what happens next! Inger Iversen has a new fan!
