I enjoyed reading these short Easter essays about Jesus from various authors including Brad Wilcox, Brent Top, and Gaye Strathearn. I think I liked Gaye's essay the most. She dove into the crucifixion of Christ and how we should skip over why it was important and is STILL important in our lives now. I think we often focus on the resurrection and do tend to skip over the pain of the cross, but it is essential to the depths of why it's all important. Good book and easy to read, even when it's not Easter season.
I enjoyed continuing my Easter studies with this book. There are six essays, each by a different author. I've read one a day since Easter. In each one, I found some nugget to ponder and add to my understanding of the Atonement. I especially found, "Christ's Crucifixion: Reclamation of the Cross," by Gaye Strathearn interesting and informative. I also enjoyed Brent Top's article, "A Perfect Balance of Justice and Mercy" and Brad Wilcox's, "May Christ Lift Thee Up."
It was a good general gentle read on Easter - like most of these "feel good collection" they are basic, general, and somewhat passive. They also fall into the category of most gentle discussions with a few gems... The gems in this one come from John Madsen and Brad Wilcox... Read those and scan over the rest...
The essays in this book were presented at the annual BYU Easter conferences in 2012 and 2013. Each is insightful. I found this book to have a high amount of inspiration per page. My two favorites were Gaye Strathearn's essay about the significance of the cross in Christian doctrine, and Brad Wilcox' "May Christ Lift Thee Up"
