Working Together: A Personality-Centered Approach To Management

Rate this book
Based on the Meyers-Briggs personality profile types (MBTI), this volume gives brief descriptions of each type, how to recognize the preferences and approaches of the various types, an analysis of the kinds of problems in communication that can arise between specific types, and offers concrete strategies & tools both for avoiding/resolving the problems and for working together in a way that takes advantage of the diversity of types.

[from back cover material]
In Working Together, the order underlying the seemingly chaotic world of personality is revealed. Two internationally recognized experts share their knowledge about people, personality, and teamwork...[to] help you understand others from their frame of reference.

You will work together more effectively, building on strengths rather than wasting time on weaknesses. Whether in business or in life, this is an excellent 'hands on' practical guide for team work in organizations and for ordinary people in everyday situations.

"The ideas and concepts in Working Together are perhaps the most critical in bringing an organization to its fullest potential. The book is an incredible tool in optimizing human performance." - John Dean, President & CEO, Silicon Valley Bank (San Jose, CA)

Helpful for self-awareness, and also to help others on a team develop their own understanding of cohesiveness.

This is one of the best books I’ve read on MBTI typology, which focuses on management style and personal characteristics, with one page summaries of each type. Good material up front introducing typology concepts. It nicely avoids the gimmicky labels other books use.

The page layout on the detailed profiles is broken into two columns per page, with text that jumps to the next page at the bottom of the column rather than continuing to the next column to the right, which takes a little getting used to when reading.
