Jimmy's Game

Rate this book
Maria Davis, a devout Catholic who has been raised in a convent, was devastated and terrified when at fifteen she was sold to the sadistic self appointed crime boss, Nick Orphanides, by the very people she loved and trusted. After living with sexual dominance, torture, deprivation and sadism at his hands for three years; she believes her prayers have finally been answered when Jimmy Dixon wins her in a poker game.

Yet despite Jimmy being one of Nick’s crew, it soon becomes apparent that Nick isn't about to let him keep her and a feud soon develops between the two men. Leaving Maria once again fearing for her life, she knows too much about Nick’s criminal activities outside of London, including his secret links with the Russian mafia. If Nick can’t buy her back he’ll silence her permanently, along with Jimmy and anyone who stands in his way.

Although certain that she’ll be forced to return before anyone is killed, Maria finds herself falling for the charms of sexy bad boy Jimmy. Slowly he brings her into the erotic world of true desire and love making; but it isn't long before she realises that he too has a darker side. A deep rooted sadistic uncontrollable anger connected to his childhood.

This was a very good long read. Nick was a very sick man that I didn't like and he wants Maria back. This book was full of violence. I liked Jimmy a lot and I also liked Gladys tells Maria all about how many times Jimmy has been hurt and talks about the kind of business he's in and she gives her some advice. I also liked his friends because they try to protect Maria. This was a really good read this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. This was my first time reading this author. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Jimmy likes a game of poker and one night he wins the game and claims the prize, not cash but Maria. Jimmy's Game is a thriller set in London featuring the lives of people involved in organized crime. This novel has plenty of sex and violence with the characters appearing like actors in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders.

This is a fast paced novel that covers a fair bit of ground and a time frame of around 30 months. A lot of mainstream issues are raised like domestic violence, jealousy, religion and sexual aggression. The characters are developed steadily through the book and you learn the kind and loving side to these criminals. Most of the story is told through dialogue between the characters. it is more talk than action and description. The whole story is done in the EastEnders soap opera style. The main character is Jimmy and he does not appear to do an awful lot of work. He spends a lot of time on the telephone and has regular trips to his night clubs and restaurants where he drinks, eats and talks until the early hours.

Jimmy's Game is easy reading, although it has it's faults. This book is entertaining but in a let the television wash over me, kind of way. There is nothing special about this book but it is a good average. It does it's job as a daily read in the same way that many people devote time to Facebook and Twitter. The story line is easy to follow with a small circle of characters. I enjoyed reading Jimmy's Game, it is a good book that I will vote 4 stars. After all the violence, it has a happy ending.

Jimmy's Game is available as an Amazon Kindle eBook and was written in 2012.

This really felt like 2 books in 1.

It's definitely not for the weak of stomach. There's a lot of brutality of all forms in it. The entire book is from Jimmy's point-of-view, with brief insight into the minds of other characters. Jimmy is a London mobster and the author doesn't hold back with his character. He gets his hands dirty and commits all sorts of violence.

A lot of the book isn't even romance, but crime drama. Which I liked. Even while I was cringing at some of the subject matter.

I wasn't too interested in Maria the first half of the book. She was a big-time victim, though it wasn't her fault. Sold to a bad man at the age of 15, all she knew of men was abuse. Jimmy had a thing for her so he bet her owner in a card game. There was problem after problem, but finally they overcame all that halfway through the book.

The second half of the book was more interesting. Maria has gained confidence and happiness, but Jimmy's long-buried childhood demons are resurfacing and causing him to sabotage their relationship.

At the end of the book, it's clear that there's a lot more story to tell and I can't wait to read the next book in the Ruthless series.

There was too much going on. I don't want everyone's POV. I just could not get interested in this book with all the inner dialogue, every POV, and so much detailed information. I got bored and frustrated.

I cannot understand how anyone could think that a supposedly saved sex slave, who ends up marrying a murdering thug who has no problem with both hitting and raping her is an uplifting story. The prose was weak and childish. I counted over 60 times when the phrase; "They all laughed", (or similar permutation), was used. Over 60 times! Plus, a person 'ACCEPTS' a gift, they don't except it. Grrr! This book gets 1 star for managing to con so many people into believing it's worth reading. It's not, really not. Poor, poor, POOR!

Very slow

The way it's written was quite poor . There were so many "they all laughed" I wish it was more conversational instead of describing characters feelings

Insert -Snatch- movie characters here.
I think thats the only reason i kept reading and telling myself i enjoyed it, Jason Stathom. (but really all of the characters made an appearance in my imagination considering it's probably one of my fave movies of all time)
I'm keeping this short because this book just wasn't for me-

The story was pretty good (could have been like 3 stories) but was almost written like a movie, which made it very verryyy long.
The dialogue was really messy being back and forth, i think because it wasn't distinguished properly. I'm not sure if it was the heavy accent but i would often get thrown off on who was speaking and although there was Rarely a dull moment, sometimes i just got bored with so much conversation and backstory.

As far as my emotions during this crazy long ride- just raw. Also pretty grossed out at some points and i've read some dark shit.
Anyway i wont be adding it to an all time fave list but enjoyed the London setting and i loveddd the launguage/slang (im straight up American-never been anywhere)so i still had a good time reading it.

This read like three stories in one. I was confused how the plot climaxed so soon and then moved on to another plot and then yet again. I was also a little frustrated with the formatting of the dialogue as well. It was distracting and I had to re-read passages to figure out who was saying what. At times there was also a lot of info. dumping. The story was highly entertaining and kept my attention, but the characters became annoying and I actually disliked the hero in the end. I love a controlling alpha male, but Jimmy was over the top and abusive both physically and emotionally. I also felt like Maria was being babysat the entire book by friends. She was more like a pet than Jimmy's girlfriend. Maria was very fearful and untrusting of anyone outside of their circle, so it was nice to see her character grow into an independent woman. There was so much going on in this story, but some of it could be left out so the story flowed more smoothly.

I loved this book and thought it was brilliant. I thought the story was original and bloody brutal in places just the kind on Genre I love, Jimmy, a London gangster wins a game of poker and a woman from a gangland crime boss. The story is non stop from start to finish, from Gangland London to the Corrupt Catholic Church Priest who sold Maria to the said Crime Boss at the age of 15. It's gritty, heartbreaking & brutal, in my opinion a bloody good read I really liked it. It won't be to everyone's taste, but don't forget at the end of the day it's a work of fiction but for me it was brilliant ;D

Maybe this was a really good book. But I didn't find out because it was too hard to read. Dialogue was smashed together and you couldn't tell who was speaking. paragraphs went on for pages. There are too many other books to read without having to analyze who is saying what.
