It was a great story. You just never know what is going on in someone's life to cause them to act the way they do. So it pays to stop and be nice instead of reacting to their meaness. Makes you want to be more like Jesus. And yes, you ALWAYS want to protect your child, but this time, I believe his child had the answer...so did the mother. Don't we always, before the dad? lol PRAY first, react later!
Chris Hibbard's In God's Eyes deals with the issue of bullying and how parents are often left feeling powerless when a bully targets their child(ren) and nothing can be done to stop the unwarranted and hurtful attacks. However, the author throws in an unexpected twist that takes you into the world of the bully and from that point on things are never looked at the same way again. Yes, even the word of God speaks on how to deal with bullies.
A quick read. A short story that gets you to think. I look forward to more stories by this author. He obviously understand the struggles we have on our daily walk through life and has a God given gift of writing them out so everyone can understand we are not alone - others are struggling and God is always there for us even when we can't understand why things go the way they do.
This book is better than the first one in my opinion! I couldn't stop reading and it's so cute! Really opens your eyes to God's calling and listening to him to key in this book. Wish it was a little longer but so good!!
Makes you think of how you view your own feelings toward things and then provokes you to take it apart and examine every piece of those feelings. Very good!
This story gives me shivers; it fills me with awe at the amazing transforming power of God's love when we simply say 'yes' to His Plan. I keep coming back to it. It's a lovely story beautifully told.
It was a quick and easy read on bullying & forgiveness. You can't always "judge a book by its cover" because there's always more to the story than what you see. It was hard for me to read only because I have been through bullying myself when I was younger..and my children have gone through it as well....My teenager went through it because of his disability...and my tween went through it when I switched his school...But with him, a lot of children at that school were bullied...Not just him...I don't know what it is about this particular school, but it was just full of them...It's like they send most of them there...
I do not justify bullying at all....yet, I know, there is usually a reason in behind why bullies do what they do...They may have been bullied at home....or at someones home inside their family...maybe physically or sexually abused...abused at school...and many other things that could cause it...
This book was a short story (23 pages)...and easy to read. A few typos and misplaced names...But other than that, it was a good book. I've read other things by this author...that's what made me pick this one up.
This is a story that focuses mainly on bullying. As most of us know, bullying has been a problem for years, but it seems to be getting increasingly worse. I relate well to main character Johnny, because I too was bullied, as was my sister. The bullying we endured was merciless and relentless - it went on at school, in class, on the bus, at Church, etc.
Though my sister and I have long since forgiven our torturers, the painful experience left scars. Twenty plus years ago, if you had told me I'd be using that pain to help others, I would not have believed you.
Bullying is reaching an extreme and dangerous point and I think Mr Hibbard has done a wonderful job trying to approach this issue. People who bully most likely are being abused or severely mistreated in some way - that does not excuse their actions, but may help explain it a little. My wish is for us, as a society to work together and decrease this issue. I know we can't completely stop it, but together we can do something. Well done Mr Hibbard. #StopTheBullying #StopAbuse
This short story is very thought provoking. To be able to see the whole picture, to realize how the decisions made years ago affect others, and the ability to see others through God's eyes are truly blessings. When interrupted while reading this book, I could hardly wait to get back to it. Short and effective.
I can't put your books down. They are so short and sweet I have to read the next and the next. Awesome short stories. I give your books a 5-star. Thank you for sending my thinking pattern in another direction. CeCe Moreland
In this book: In God's Eyes teaches a lesson on one kid bullying another and forgiving one another. Don't judge people. God knows . Pray for anything and everything you do. Great book.
Hubbard's short stories helps us escape sled and prompts to become more God-centered. .. ahhh! This is much better than a temporary break from reality that most books offer.
Need a reminder that God sees differently & that as "little Christs" we are to see as He does? Have you forgotten how to see & hear Him? Take a deep breath and read this short story from Chris Hibbard. Perfect for a morning or family devotion.
