Good material. Will surely get me through the exam, but I hope I will have the necessary determination to also apply at least half of it. Spoiler alert: Mike, it wasn't very cool of you, right at the end, when I was so happy I finished the huge book, to tell me I need to go through it again at least once. I will, though :D
I have just passed my PMI-ACP exam this morning mostly because to this book. It is very well structured and written for a text book and would definitely be useful even beyond the exam preparation. Contains useful methods and examples fro real life practice.
Warmly recommended to anyone who wants to pass PMI-ACP exam
Wonderfully written, engaging and great prep for the PMI-ACP exam. I would recommend reading other sources as well since this book skips over some material and also because ideas tend to stick if you have them explained in different ways.
This book is THE book you need to use to pass the PMI-ACP. There is an accompanying workbook that definitely helps apply what you have read in this book. Well worth the investment. It also offers an online sample exam that it offers for free with the purchase that is very beneficial.
Served the purpose. It provides structure to Agile theory along with some practical use cases. Helped me in clearing the exam on the first attempt. Served it's purpose well :)
You wouldn't read this for pleasure. However, if you are trying to take the PMI-ACP, this book does an excellent job of explaining the topics and getting you prepared.
Why another Agile book? Because I would like to get a better perspective of Agile. Why Agile ?Because I know Agile is used commonly nowadays and need to understand best practices. Why Best Practices? Because best practices in terms of tools & technologies and knowledge & skills need to be known from the best Agile coach. Why best Agile Coach? Because best agile coach brings out the best in us be it in person, virtually or by reading their material. Why reading their material? Because Mike Griffiths is the best.
This is how, Mike Griffiths had explained the concept of five-whys , one of the tools & techniques used to find out the root -cause of some problem. The approaches in this book seem to be practical and way better than so much material available online and in this planet .As a person interested in becoming “Agile”, I feel this book saves lot of time in going through stuff and every concept is self-explanatory.I felt as if Mike Griffiths was teaching in person when I was reading the book. The book is categorized in terms of the 6 domains of Agile methodology and each methodology has the respective tools & technologies and knowledge & skills apart from the Agile manifesto and principles.Practical questions are given at the end of each chapter along with the answers that have a clear explanation as to the reason behind the solution. He had also provided, the tips & tricks after certain topics that highlight the importance of how the topic appears in the exam. This also contains the exam tips and what a person should focus and should not be focused. As mentioned elsewhere, this book does not only serve the purpose of just getting certified but also serve as a guide for an Agile practitioner.
I had given an obvious rating of 5/5 because this book had been the best project management book that I ever read.
Does what it promises. Teaches you just enough to pass the exam. Covers lot of topics but the level of knowledge is just scratching the surface. Besides helping you to pass exam this book also could work as some kind of introduction to agile methods and checking referenced resources you could dig deeper to specific area.
Book was quite easy to read so you can even enjoy reading it. That isn't always the case with books prepping you for certification exams.
This book compiles in roughly 300 pages more than 4.000 pages of 11 books recommended by PMP to study for the PMI-ACP exam. I recommend this book as a starting point for the exam, so you can identify areas where you need to improve in order to pass.
Keep in mind that more important than to study to pass the exam is understand the mindset behind each tool, technique, knowledge or skill, in order to judge the reason to use each of them in your daily work.
This book is outstanding. From an Agile perspective there isn't anything really like it. It is THE introduction to Agile principles book and a must read for any agile practitioner.
If you are taking the ACP, this is a "must have" study guide. It also serves as a really good overview and reference for Agile, even if you are not taking the exam.
