Strong, sexy and powerful... the kind of man every woman wants in her life and in her bed. But these men are more. Oh, so much more.
Just how valuable is a soul?
A fallen angel banished from Hell, Brone has been cursed to walk the Earth in complete sensory deprivation for over eight hundred years. The only thing he craves is connection with another being – sound, taste, and please, God, touch. But the likelihood of that happening is next to zero. Satan isn’t exactly known to be forgiving.
Handling her first big case as a prosecutor, Evie Carr is definitely in over her head. Everyone knows Monroe Stilton is guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault against a child, but proving it has become difficult. She’s desperately afraid the monster is going to walk. And that fear becomes personal when the psychopath threatens her own daughter.
Neither Brone nor Evie could have anticipated how one simple touch would change their lives. Brone is offered a single chance to return to the fold. But at what price?
He holds the means to protect Evie’s daughter. All she has to do is…fall.

Evie is a prosecutor trying to get a serial child molester convicted, and she's scared for her daughter who has been threatened by that same molester. Brone is a fallen angel (demon) who was exiled from Hell and has been in a state of sensory deprivation for centuries, until he meets Evie. Only there's a catch. The Devil wants her soul and he wants Brone to get it for him.
And as well written and comprehensive as this story is, it made me so uncomfortable. I'm not a religious person, but it was a little off-putting that I was reading about a HERO who bargained for people's souls and was on a first name basis with the Devil. As charming as he was, I couldn't like him because of what he was and what he has done...no reformation or anything. Even after he'd met the heroine, he was still willing to bargain for her soul. And Evie I guess is supposed to be intelligent, only she does some stupid things. She brings a complete stranger into her home, lets him spend the night and leaves him there when she goes to work, she has unprotected sex with a man she's known for a few hours and who she believed to be stalking her and she continues to sleep with the guy even after she suspects that he's a fallen angel, rather than a light one (which has me questioning her morality, because at this point she is relatively certain she's having sex with a demon and she's okay with that?!?) And I wasn't completely sold on the necessity of Evie selling her soul. There were other options...like moving or killing him herself (which if done out of protection, I think could have avoided the whole going-to-hell thing).

This is the third More Then Men novella I've read and I'm enjoying them all very much. Brone is a fallen angel who pretty much stuffed up in hell and got turfed out of there as well. After 800 odd years of walking the earth in banishment he is deprived in every sense of all contact. When Evangeline (nice name BTW) runs into him the shock of feeling is almost too much for him. But it's too good to be true. His master wants her soul and Brone is just the fallen angel to give it to him. In return for rescinding his banishment.
Now Evie has something she wants more than anything, and the best possible reason for it. All Brone has to do is take advantage of that and he is home and hosed. But of course it is never as simple as that.
For a short story this has quite a nice amount of character development. In fact it is all about the characters and the immediate situation so the short format works well.
I love this series and look forward to more "More then Men" stories.
Read this one last night and have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it! The story has great characterization, great storyline, is well researched and well-written, as are all of Kira Sinclair's works. I have yet to read the other More than Men novella's but I fully plan on doing so now. Highly recommend this short read, and any other book written by Kira Sinclair. She's an auto-buy for me.
