McKenna Ross left home eight years ago, her heart broken by the man she had loved since she was a child. Now after eight long years of praying for God to either take away her love for Jace Tremaine, or to make Jace fall in love with her, McKenna feels as if she's being called home. Is God finally leading her home to be with Jace? Or does He have something altogether different planned for McKenna?
Jace Tremaine hurt McKenna when she left for college eight years ago. In an effort to replace her in his heart, he's had a parade of women through his life. Now, she's a beautiful, successful woman, and Jace wants her forgiveness and her love.
Enter Sawyer Blake, the physical therapist who helps McKenna in healing after a terrible car accident. Sawyer is a man of strong faith, and he sees in McKenna a woman he could love forever. Can he pray for God's will for McKenna, Jace and himself, and accept God's answer? This is a story of faith, prayer and the belief that God's will for us is always the path to follow.
Born and raised in Texas, Lisa is happily married and lives with her husband, two amazing children, Jingles Wigglebottom (the wonder dog), Cash (the Chiweenie), and Socks (the world's laziest cat). Since learning to put crayon to paper, all Lisa really ever wanted to do is write. After years of keeping her writing to herself, or sharing with family and friends, Lisa decided it was time to "put up or shut up".
In June of 2012, Lisa uploaded her first ebook, McKenna's Prayer (McKenna's Haven, Book 1); the story is one of love, friendship and above all, realizing that God's plan for us is always best. When that book was finished, Lisa felt compelled to continue the story and write the resolution to the story of one character. With each story, more characters came to life, and when the series was finished, there were five books!
Lisa is always working on something, and loves to hear from readers!
I am not an especially religious person, but I really enjoy a 'good' Christian romance, because it seems to focus more on the relationships and the emotions of things, and doesn't focus on the sex of it all. Don't get me wrong. I love a good sex scene, but I can definitely appreciate love and emotions, when experienced thoroughly. Which this one did. Usually, when there is a love triangle, of any sorts, I have a hard time getting into it, because I worry that I won't be cheering for the right relationship to win. But, this one just spoke to me, and I loved every bit of it. And, I loved being able to get the point of view from both guys and the girl. Please, read this book, and you will be dying to read the rest of the series.
I loved this book. Understanding the difference between love and being "in love", knowing what loving someone means and how relying on God's love and divine providence helps you in life are the themes of this novel. I couldn't put it down and enjoyed the development and maturing of McKenna throughout the story. Can't wait to read the next installment.
It was ok. McKenna spent the first half of the book mooning over Jace with very little interaction with Sawyer. When they did spend time together, they acted more like siblings than anything else. The attraction felt forced. I almost wish Jace would have waited for her and then get together when she moved back. They had more attraction than McKenna and Sawyer did. And even then it still didn't feel right. But having read all the other books in the series (except Jace's healing) I can honestly say Lisa Crane's writing improves greatly by the last book. She is a good writer and I will continue to read more of her work.
I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the beginning I wanted to know what was going to happen to McKenna. See her keeping her faith and positive attitude was so good to read. Then seeing her meeting her challenges and possible new love was so much fun. I couldn't believe she was that clueless. 😂😂 I loved the chemistry between McKenna and Sawyer. How making a change in her life and following her instinct changes several people's lives. She held her own and I'm glad she chose whom she did. Loved the epilogue!!
NOT a Standalone Book! PG. No swearing, no sex. A lot of "religious overtones," but not overbearing. The main character is a loving, kind, Christian woman.
I, on principle, stay away from "series" books, unless the books stand alone. I hate "cliff-hangers." Then, I read this crazy book, and now I MUST read the next one in the SERIES because I'm emotionally invested in one of the characters. I'm a little mad about it.
****Spoiler**** What the heck?? I did NOT see that coming. That's not what was supposed to happen between McKenna and Jace. I feel robbed.
I love McKenna's faith. I love that this book quoted scripture, and presented having a strong faith in God and His will for our lives in a way that was not "preachy". So many times, Christians are portrayed as out of touch with reality, or as hypocrites. Author, Lisa Crane, has hit the nail on the head in her portrayal of what is to have a genuine walk with Christ. As the characters in this story pray for God's guidance in their lives, God begins to reveal His plan for them, which is better than they could ever imagine. This book is well written, paced in a way that will hold your attention, and thoroughly enjoyable! The characters are well developed.
I'd read and really enjoyed several of Lisa Crane's short stories so was delighted to download McKenna's prayer for free. In my opinion this is the best of Lisa's books/stories I've read so far. I found it to be a beautiful story of love, healing and faith. The characters were well drawn and believable and there was also a good dose of humour in there. Lisa kept you guessing right until the end too!
As soon as I'd finished this book I set to and read the rest of the series back to back. (They were a good read too but I think that McKenna's prayer is the best.) Please keep them coming Lisa!
Definitely a new favorite author. The word strode appeared twice, and heroine was again super perfect; but otherwise excellent, can't-put-down book. Having a heroine needing to choose between 2 heroes was unique, at least to me in the contemporary genre (though Julie Lessman does this frequently in her historicals). Loved it. Once again will ordering another one.
I wanted to give this book 5 or even 4 stars, but I felt the author wasted too much time talking about Jace and McKenna's relationship instead of developing a more in-depth relationship with Sawyer and McKenna. I think the relationship between Sawyer and McKenna was rushed and I did not like that.
This book is the first in the series and was really nice and made me want to continue the series right away. The characters are well developed and you really feel for them through their struggles.
Fantastic book and a wonderful series. I love the well-developed characters and the I-simply-could-not-put-it down-until-completed intrigue. Thanks for another great book, Lisa.
well... There was a little bit too much praying in this book. And the end was horrible. It just kind of happened. No explaining, nothing. I didn't like it. The rest of the story was okay.
Such a heartwarming, soul searching story. I couldn't put the book down until I was through reading it. I will definitely be reading more books by Lisa Crane.
McKenna is a good portrait of women of my generation; she's self-sufficient, smart, and get's things done. However, she's kind of lost when it comes to love. Jace, the man she loved her entire life hurt her badly, and as this story unfolds, she faces him once again. She's incredibly capable at life except when it comes to him. Jace has indeed been a stupid idiot, but he turns out to be a likable guy. I was rooting for him as much as McKenna, but a larger story eclipses their relationship which involves God's will. Though heartbreaking on one level, I loved this story.
