Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.

Venga, ya era hora de soltar las primeras cinco estrellas con lo mucho que me está gustando.
En este tomo aparecen nuevos personajes y con ellos conocemos a tres Guadañas Mortales: Marie, Azusa y Justin Law. Así mismo, a los enchanters o "hechiceros" y también otra bruja gorgona que desde ya me encanta.
Se habla un poco de "La locura de la frecuencia del alma" que provoca el kishin y que irá afectando poco a poco a todo el mundo de manera indiscriminada mientras no dejan de aparecer nuevos enemigos.
P.D.: La escena de todos deprimidos luego de leer el poema de Chrona. XD

A decent volume, the characters feel more natural with each other and the new villain Arachne is being set up for a big role. Hopefully it will all come together in a good way!

After the conclusion of the First Kishin story arc, how will Soul Eater follow up on such a monumental shift in plot? The answer is apparently new characters, Chrona in school, and . . . a basketball game? But one thing is readily apparent: everything has changed for Maka and her friends, as the threat of the First Kishin hangs heavy over the DWMA, putting everyone in the world of meisters and weapons on high alert to the point that Shinigami-sama has to bring several of these weapons together to combat this new enemy. And as our intrepid gang of DWMA students set off on another adventure whilst dealing with their own various dilemmas, Soul Eater continues to find new ways to combine awesome action and character-driven drama with utterly horrific situations involving magic and science in a stylish way that continues to keep me as one of its avid readers.

Not sure if it was a translation issue, but there were moments the dialogue didn't quite make sense. Still, I love the series too much to complain. This issue introduces quite a few new characters, some of whom look more interesting than others. I look forward to seeing what happens next, it ended on such a cliff-hanger! And, of course, who doesn't love the chemistry between Soul and Maka?

I think this volume was much better than the last. Although I thought the plot was better in Volume 6 (understandable, seeing as this is a follow up to the end of a story arc), this felt like much better quality. The art was better, the structure was better, and then interactions between characters were better.
Definitely an improvement for the series. I hope it continues upwards as the volumes go up.

Now that the crazy Kishin is on the loose, Shinigami-sama is summoning the strongest weapons he can from around the world to locate and contain him. Justin Law, from Western Europe, is a very pious fellow who prays a lot. Azusa is in charge of East Asia and Marie Mjolnir is in charge of Oceania. Marie has visions of being married but never seems to find the right guy. Interestingly, her first love was Dr. Stein! Meanwhile Stein approaches a very dispirited Death Scythe, who is busy polishing candlesticks, and learns he is fearful that he is about to be replaced and sent away and will never be able to see Maka again. They go to a meeting with Shinigami-same, along with Azusa and Marie, only to find an oblivious Justin already there. Stein informs the others about the madness wavelength that the Kishin emits, which “prods and incites the madness lying deep within the human soul.” And is quite contagious. Besides this, there are other dangers possible with this wavelength, such as the awakening of dormant witches or the rise of the lost continent of Atlantis, and much more. Shinigami-same reassigns Marie to work with Stein and puts Azusa in charge of Oceania, while holding Justin in reserve for now.
A few of the DWMA students decide to play a little basketball—Kid, Patty and Black Star vs Soul, a reluctant Maka, and Tsubaki—while Stein shows Marie around and she whines about finding a husband. Shinigami-sama wants to talk to Spirit about Stein and asks him to look out for Stein, concerned that the madness wavelength might be affecting him. Afterward, he is pleasantly surprised by Maka’s request to spend time with him, unaware that is the price she has to pay for losing the basketball game.
Shinigami-same decides to admit Crona on a trial enrollment at DWMA. A concerned Sid asks Maka if maybe she can get through to Crona, since Sid hasn’t been able to. Maka reaches out to Crona and introduces him to Marie. Crona still has Ragnarok and he’s still obnoxious but he’s much less powerful and smaller than he was before. Now he’s more annoying than dangerous. A report is received from the Czech Republic about a golem wreaking havoc, so Sid sends Maka and Crona to check it out. Shinigami-sama is concerned as golems are meant to protect, not attack, so he wants Stein’s opinion on what is going on. Stein is alarmed at what he discovers but Shinigami-sama assures him that he has sent a strong ally to aid Maka and Crona.
Things are definitely picking up with Soul Eater, with the arrival of the Death Weapons and dealing with the effects of the Kishin’s escape. Of the three new arrivals, Azusa is the least annoying. Marie whines far too much about wanting to get married, and Justin is in his own little world, with his earbuds and his holier-than-thou attitude. I haven’t made up my mind about Crona, but maybe my feelings toward him are really directed toward Ragnarok, who is an utter creep. We meet another villain in this volume, who seems as though she will be a formidable foe, and we also see the return of an interesting character we’ve met before. Maka’s day with dad was great, and also not entirely unexpected in what she has to deal with. I like Spirit, despite his shortcomings. I know he means well and he loves his daughter, but he can be such a horn dog at times and so immature! The story of Maka and Crona’s trip to the Czech Republic is very interesting, as is the golem itself. All in all, a good volume, looking forward to the next one!

In a world where witches, minions, and tainted souls exist, there must also be those that stand against them. These people are known as Weapon Meisters and their Weapons. They are charged with devouring tainted souls and protecting the world.
With one of the strongest kishin out on the loose, it is time to start consolidating power. As such, Death has summoned some of his best Death Scythes back to DWMA. Not only will they be responsible for protecting the students, but they will be called upon to hunt the rising evil in the area.

Oh! I had forgotten that Soul Eater Vol. 7 is where we finally meet Arachne. It makes sense, moving on from one villainess to the next, right? Interestingly, there's still a bigger bad out in the world. Let's not forget the sudden arrival of so many Death Scythes. Their introductions are limited here, yet there are at least two that we can get a strong feeling for.
Overall, this volume is a lot of fun. We get to see the DWMA students keep on with the good fight, with the addition of a new classmate to mix things up. These plots are balanced out by the plots surrounding the adults (IE, the Death Scythes).
In addition to that, there are several undertones for readers to pick up on. I think that has to be my favorite element of this plot arc. There's so much to read into, making it a deeper read. Plus, theory-crafting can be so much fun.

Soul Eater, Vol. 7 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next five chapters (23–27) of the on-going manga series.
Shinigami summons the Death Scythes Justin Law, Marie Mjolnir, and Azusa Yumi to Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) for their help in finding Asura.
Crona becomes a trial student at DWMA and is sent on a mission to the Czech Republic with Maka Albarn and Soul Evans to find a golem that has been attacking people. They discover that the golem contains the soul of the witch Arachne, the leader of Arachnophobia, who resurfaces after 800 years of hiding and paralyzes Maka Albarn.
Justin Law saves Maka Albarn and Crona, and Arachne retreats to regroup with her worldwide organization, Arachnophobia, which wages war against DWMA.
Meanwhile, Black Star infiltrates an Arachnophobia research facility to avenge Maka Albarn and encounters Mifune, who is now a member of Arachnophobia.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo. In response to Asura resurrection, Shinigami summons three Death Scythes: Justin Law, Marie Mjolnir, and Azusa Yumi for their help in finding Asura – the Demon God. It was a slower book. The main reason is that the author integrates new characters so he explains who they are. The end was however very intriguing as every time. I can't wait to read the next one and see what will happen there especially with the arrival of all these new characters.
C'était beaucoup plus lent comme lecture. La raison principale est que l'auteur intègre de nouveaux personnages donc il nous explique qui ils sont. La fin était toutefois très intrigante comme chaque fois. J'ai hâte de lire la suite et de voir se qui s'y produira surtout avec l'arrivé de tous ces nouveaux personnages.

So in volume six the Kishin was awakened, now as a consequence of that the Witch Arachne has awakened and reformed herself. It's been eight hundred years since she was on the run being chased by both her fellow witches and Lord Death. She had to hide herself in order to survive and now is the time of awakening. She plans on picking up where she left off and doesn't think Lord Death can stop her and her army.
Once again I enjoyed the story, it's fun to see the differences between the Manga and the Anime. Pick up Soul Eater, Vol. 01 and start the twenty-five volume series.

Not really gonna have anything to say for these next three books.
I did notice that this series doesn't follow my normal love for manga/anime. Usually I like it when the main characters get stronger and we get to see them progress (I love being a proud mother lol). But my favorite part about Soul Eater is the world. The world is just so creative and there's so much mystery to it. Like why is the world like this?? Maybe we'll figure out in Fire Force (it's a pipe dream at this point).
Don't get me wrong I would DIE for these kids but it's different and I can't put a finger on it.

Don't mind me, I'm just casually re-reading the entire manga for the 5th time or so because A) it's one of my comfort series and I need all the comfort I can get right now, B) I own the entire thing physically so it's right there, and C) everyone is talking about fall/ Halloween reads and SE fits that to a T.
Gonna give all the volumes 5 stars as a default. There's plenty I could complain about if I wanted, namely the unnecessary fanservice/ weird sexualization of teen characters, but I'm not gonna do that right now. It pops up rarely enough that I can just pretend it doesn't exist.

I think it still follows the anime so far. I know later on it deviates so it'll be interesting to see the differences.
It's after the kishin asura escaped, and the students are dealing with trying to live normal lives of being students at DWMA. Shinigami summons Justin law, Marie mjolnir and azusa yumi to help with the kishin.
On to the next book.

Pretty close to the anime with the only major difference being that Arachne is said to have had some hand in creating the Demon Weapons which has always been a question of mine like why do some people just have the ability to become weapons. So it is good that the manga helps explore the lore a bit more.

The Soul Eater world expands as readers are introduced to Death's Weapons from around the world. The students and teachers of DWMA find themselves pitted against new villains and a new Big Bad. This series, in its writing and artwork, continues to be absolutely enjoyable.

Kind of lost interest and had to force myself to finish reading this one, but it was totally worth it because MIFUNE IS THERE.

When you look at how many volumes of this series there are, finishing this one feels like crossing the boundary at the end of the first act. The big baddies are finally introduced, and each side is beginning to gather their forces to prepare for the chaos.
