Daybreak: Rising Above It All With Praise is a collection of day-to-day encouraging poems, prayers, and Scriptures derived from tests and trials I had to overcome to claim victory toward healing and recovering from the pain of my childhood. In the midst of my fears, I had to discover the courage deep from within and find the strength to give God praise. On my journey toward forgiveness, through faith, I allowed God to come into my heart. At that point, God transformed my heart one layer at a time and healed it from past hurts. When we praise our way through, it will shift things around to work in our favor, if we believe. You have to be transformed, in order for transformation to take place. Let's celebrate life with great expectations, by giving praises to the almighty God. I pray that my journal, Daybreak: Rising Above It All With Praise, will encourage you to give thanks and praises in the midst of it all. Press on toward your future! Let go of the pain and hurt, so you can celebrate life. Give Him praise! We all need a Daybreak to get through the day!

Daybreak: Rising Above It All With Praise is a continuation from her debut book. Although this book is classified as a poetry/journal, it reads more like daily affirmations (which is good for someone who needs a good lifting up - actually we all need one).
The only drawback is that it was a little redundant in periods, but it's been said that you have to continually encourage yourself (even if it's the same affirmation).
One thing that I gained from this book is that Angela is encouraged and rising above it all with praise!
I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway. It is written as a 25-day devotional. Each day has a word or phrase as a theme, a prayer, and most have a Bible verse from Psalms. It was a very inspirational read and I really enjoyed it, even though I read it straight through instead of doing it day by day. I highly recommend it for anyone who has struggled with depression, abuse, or feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness.
The synopsis on the back cover described this collection of poems as a journal. It is even numbered by day so that the reader can read and meditate on something each day. Each day is prefaced with a scripture from the Bible. The poems, which appear to be free verse are supposed to coincide with the daily scripture. The poems were written mostly as encouragement to overcome difficulties through praise. The issue that I take with this work is it doesn’t seem to be a journal at all. In several poems the poet actually uses second person to speak to the reader. This made the poems seem like mini sermons. There are bullets in several of the poems as well and it seems as if the poet is teaching. It could be that the poems are suited for spoken word, and therefore didn’t come across well as free verse poems. The poet also used a lot of scriptures within the poems or the poems were re- worded from scripture. This made the work seem unoriginal. It’s difficult to review something of this nature because the work is definitely from someone’s heart and the praise of God is always in order. There was just no significant impact with this particular collection for me.
This is the second book of poetry from this author. She continues to document her personal journey as she grows in faith. If you're looking for some inspirational motivation, then don't look any further. Just stop and start reading this today...
