Jessica Moxly needed a distraction. Plagued by horrific nightmares, actually visions, and an upcoming job interview, she was desperate for something else to think about. In a last ditch effort to dream about something, anything that didn’t involve blood or fear, she asks her witch friend’s Goddess for help. Then the dreams about him started. A beautiful man with no face but icy pale blue eyes began to haunt her dreams with the promise of passion. Sebastian was happy as producer and head of security for Angel Knight, the rock star and California Clan Leader. His plate was full and he was content. Until he saw her. She was the image of a woman from his past, a past he had desperately tried to put behind him. A chance meeting a local club ended in a night of passion. No matter what he did, he could not erase her from his mind. When she shows up on the doorstep of the Knight Estate to interview for the open accountant position, he knows his life is about to get much more complicated. Torn by his past, and leery of his future, Sebastian must decide whether or not to let this woman into his life. When local mated vampires start turning up dead, Jessica decides to help seek out information at a local church that preaches vampire hate. She finds herself in more trouble than she ever thought. It is then that Sebastian realizes that she is his true mate, and he will do anything to protect her from the rising danger. But will love be enough to stop the hate? Thanks for the help
I live in KY with my family. While I hold a "real job" my first love will always be writing. I enjoy lots of different kinds of books, and many different authors. Some of my favorites are, but not limited to, Sandra Hill, Lori Foster, Kelly Armstrong, Stephen King, James Patterson, J.R. Ward and Emma Holly. But I think I would read just about anything with a good plot.
Jessica was tired of waking up afraid and not knowing what her dreams meant. She just wanted to sleep and have a dream that wasn't plagued with blood or horror. She got her wish and started dreaming about a pair of blue eyes that left her panting and wanting more.
Sebastian is second in command to Angel Knights clan. He, too, is haunted by dreams but he is aware of their source. His past haunts him, guarding his heart and his emotions to anyone who tries to get in. Even from Jessica.
I LOVE Jessica in this book. Yes, the name rocks, but she is a girl who knows what she wants and how to get it! The fact that the book continues to touch upon Brea and Angel's continued story is amazing!
Danielle James keeps it going and I cannot wait to read book 3 in her Forbidden Love Series!
After a couple of pages it became obvious that this wasn't the first book in the series and I couldn't find any trace of it I resorted to a google search and found the authors page and discovered that the book I wanted was called Dark Angel even with the title I still could find no trace so I emailed Danielle James the author she responded within a few hours explaining that Dark Angel is not currently available online but will be soon with a new name. As for Into the Light this was a fabulous book with really great characters and in places laugh out loud humour I can't wait to read Dark Angel and any other books that follow
Good story. I enjoyed this as much as the first in the series. It's a bit more intense and I liked it that way. This story line leaves the Knight family with a loss of two beloved characters by the end. That part made me sad because I liked them both and was hoping that some miracle would happen, but alas it did not.
My only mild complaint is that there were some editorial challenges throughout the story but not enough to detract enjoyment.
So this is my 2nd time reading this series. Jessica and Sebastian bring so much into this series. She has visions. He is 2nd in command and not looking for love. The storyline is one that takes you through the prejudices of those different from humans. A religious freak looking to cleanse the species and save their souls. Absolutely love the characters and their journey to find their mates.
Book 1 was good, made me want to read this one. Oh my goodness, this one is fantastic. Loads of angst. Lots of intrigue. Some very sexy scenes. World building. My heart is still pounding. Make sure you have tissues too! So many feels. I must read the next book. From a New Fan... Pam James.
I read / listened to this book in audio format via audible.com. I always choose the audio books first as the narrators tend to breath life into the stories. Audio books also allow me to read and be hands free at same time so I can drive, walk, work and even clean house.
This is a well written book about vampires, werewolves and humans all getting along and living together. The plot is excellent too! This book had me on the edge of my seat so many times and even brought me to tears a few times. I loved it!!!
Jessica Moxley interviews for a new job at the headquarters of a well known vampire family. Sebastian and Angel both believe she is the same Jessica that Sebastian lost long ago. Jessica gets the job as accountant for them and so much more. Jessica ends up marrying Sebastian. Vampires are dying though. Jessica takes it upon herself and her friend Franky to explore around and fall into a trap. Read along as the vampire family rescue the ladies and learn who is out killing their own family.
The author, Danielle James did a superb job writing this book. It has danger, love, hot sex, mystery & suspense in it. The narrator Robert Neil DeVoe delivered this story to us flawlessly with his many voices and accents (loved the french accent).
This review is in return for the audio book being gifted to me by the author for review.
Since I listened to the book I will discuss the narration first. This book was a fun listen. This is my BIG question, does anyone listen to the narrator and bother to check their pronunciations? This is obviously a rhetorical question. The narrator did okay for the most part. He voiced the women okay, small eye roll. He mispronounced bodice every time. ugh.
The story. What can I say? It was a fun listen. The plot and the characters had some serious inspiration from some other VERY familiar books. I can't believe no one else has brought this issue up. First, a french vampire rockstar. Hello, Mrs. Rice. Second, a crazy vampire hating church that kidnaps vampires to destroy them and our protagonist just happens to get herself caught inside the church, hello Mrs. Harris. However, this book was fun and Danielle James did a good job drawing from her inspirations to make it her own piece of fiction. Jaques was by far my favorite vampire.
I would recommend this book for some light and fun escapism.

So good... This series is going to be simply awesome...book after book...
Like with book one... you don't expect such an awesome story....maybe the cover throws you off a bit...but dang... this book just continued on where book 1 left off...well 3yrs later...as Angel has a 3yrs daughter who is causing terror... lol...
This story is about Angel's second in command Sebastian... Oh my... I feel so sorry for Bastian and all he has been through... only to find his true mate again... and this time around he is not letting her go!!! Jessica is tormented by nightmares, and when she ask the goddess to let her dream about something else...like the man of her dreams... well...lets just say she got her wish...
Jessica and Sebastian are great...but it was the secondary characters that I loved in this one... I cannot wait to get to Jacques' story... Boy that is gonna be a good one...
Narration was good.. no complaints...
This is a good credit, sale or buy... well worth it...
I received this as an audiobook in a giveaway. I had no clue what this book would be like and had not read Book 1. I was happy I won this copy. The narration of the audio book was not great, but the story was awesome. Now I have a brand new series to be reading.
Angel, Sebastian, Jacques, Rico, Antonio, all the vampires have varied and enduring personalities. Michael and Reverend Mike are your typical fanatic haters of all things supernatural (non-human). There is an HEA ending and an unanticipated death of a mated couple as well as many dead fanatics and a burning desire at the end of this book to get to know all of these characters better. If any of the above was a spoiler I apologize.
Sebastian and Jessica are perfect for each other. Sebastian is Angel Knight's head of security and band manager. Jessica has prophetic dreams. I have to read Book 1 - Angel Knight is HOT and the head of the California clan as well as lead singer in the band. The vampire mates are strong and smart. My TBR list has just gotten bigger.
I was given Into The Light by the author in exchange for an honest review. I fell in love with this series in Out Of The Dark!! Sebastain and Jessica are great together!! He is bound and determined to stay away from her, for her own safety, but she is having none of it. The things she does to bring him around to her way of thinking are fun, silly and slightly dangerous. But hilarity ensues!! I loved that Angel and Brea were still around in this story, along with all the other characters for us to love. The bad guys in this one made it quite interesting and I read the entire book without stopping once!! My only complaint, and the only reason I gave it 4 1/2 stars instead of 5, is the editing. Grammatical errors are a little distracting, but take nothing away from the enjoyment of the story. Thank you Danielle James for another great story!!
Into the Light is the second book in The Forbidden Love Series. Though the main romance revolves around Jessica and Sebastian, the story does give us views of Brea and Angel's continued romance from book 1.
I very much liked the first book, but book 2 was even better. I liked Jessica's character. She's confident and determined to pursue what she wants. LOL, poor Sebastian never had a chance. I felt a little sorry for him through Jessica's thinly veiled attempts of seduction. But not enough to keep me from laughing at his discomfort.
Sebastian is my favorite though. He's deliciously hot. I found it extremely hard to put this book down. If the guys keep hotter in this series, I'm not going to survive to the final book. FIVE STARS!
This book was severely lacking in so many ways. There was so little story with only about two chapters worth of action with the church. Every one of the contrived scenes and situations earned an eye-roll from me. The writing and dialogue was clunky. The only thing that saved this for me was the steamy scenes.
I listened to the audio version of this book and I couldn't help but feel like Robert Neil DeVoe had a difficult time with this one. He sounded a bit uncomfortable with the steamy scenes and resorted to a monotone through most of them.
Not great if you're looking for a vampire story.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
I just finished the entire series and I have to say if you have not read it yet, please do. This series is really great. The characters are hot vampires who are rock Gods! How much better can it get? Not to mention their love lives. The problems they have to solve, their friends who stand beside them and it all boils down to wonderful reading. I hope at some point we get to read Jade and Toni's stories. I can't think of not finding out how they turn out. Thank you Ms. James for your wonderful stories.
I enjoyed this book.It was along the lines of Jeanine Frosts 'Grave' books...which I love.Jessica is having horrible nightmares so she asks her Witch friend for help to alter them. Soon she's having visions and meeting the people she is dreaming about. It changes her life forever.Robert Neil DeVoe is a fine narrator for this book.He made the characters come to life. I did not read bk 1.I was gifted this copy for an honest review
Do sad at the end with Keelie and Ricco. :-( But a sick so called priest! If it weren't for him they'd still be alive, and stubborn Sebastian lol he finally got his forever in Jessica. She is an old soul reborn love it. And hope the rest of the band find their mates to. Absolutely love this story.
It was hard to put down once I started reading. DJ is a wonderfully talented author. If I wrote, when I write my book, I love to have her as my mentor. She draws you into the story and its as if you are living it along with the characters. Thank you, Danielle.
I really enjoy this series, but I wish there is more..... you know.... more of the band performing, more of their strengths and fighting skills, I mean in this book Jessica has certain powers, too, but didn't really read anything about it. I hated the end. Why did THAT have to happen?!
I felt like an idiot when I listened to the audio say this is the 2nd book because I thought I had downloaded the first. Either way it doesn't make a difference because this story is great as a standalone. I'm now going to download the first audio and listen to it.
This story was incredible, outstanding, exciting and sooo touching and moving. It has a fantastic storyline with hot as hell characters 😊. Danielle is a fantastic writer with one hellva imagination 😊😆😁!!.
