I am George Sandford, writer, publisher and musician. I struggled with writing as a child but somehow always wrote - initially poems and songs. Teens were spent in London enjoying the punk and new wave explosion. Moved to Sheffield and was involved as guitarist, vocalist and song writer in the music scene with a peer group including Human League, ABC, Comsat Angels and Pulp. Got married and had wedding reception at The Crucible Theatre.
Got a haircut and a real job at 27 working as a Community Centre Manager and later as Personnel Manager for a city-wide scheme for the unemployed. Then got some hardcore business qualifications and worked for a management consultancy in marketing and HR consultancy. Set up my own training business specialising in local government.
Moved to Portugal and masterminded the running, (with the invaluable help of my wife),of conferences with management gurus while sat on the beach. Thought I’d died and gone to heaven but the bubble burst and found myself working firstly on Portuguese building sites and later in a restaurant and as a gardener.
Moved back to the UK, set up another successful training business but after our son left home, decided it was time for another change and moved to Midi-Pyrenees in France. Spent most of the time writing training materials and selling English books at markets.
Upon the suggestion of our son, moved to Warsaw in 2007. Taught Business English in banks before setting up Praski Publishing with my wife.
I am the author of Cambridge University Press - English for Human Resources and many ebooks on Amazon and other sites, creator of English with George on the Warsaw Metro and author with English Matters, Business English Magazine and The Teacher in Poland and Yes Magazine in Spain.
I am either writing or thinking about writing but still find a little time for music. I love my work now I'm a full time writer but above all, love my family.
