LADY MACBETH’S TALE
'A richly textured, mythopoeic novel, casting new light on the murderous desires of Shakespeare's heroine. Mesmerising!' CHRISTOPHER WILSON, author of The Ballad of Lee Cotton
Goblin Fruit is one of Margaret Power's three 'neo-Victorian' novels (together with Porphyria's Lover and Lily). While the story is intriguing and also clearly linked to the famous Victorian Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (the cover image is Dante Gabriel Rossetti's 'Proserpine'), the writing style didn't attract me. It jumped between different viewpoints and stories, leaving the reader to infer much. If you're into a bit more of an experimental narrative in a historical novel, do read this, but for me it didn't work.
