This story takes its main characters from the creations of Tricia Owens, a prolific and gifted writer. She chose the writers who would create their own fanfiction based on her handiworks very carefully and Grumpy Demon does not disappoint. Faced with threats both human and fantastical, fragile Hadrian reveals a core of steel while the wronged Caled comes to grips with his conflicting feelings and vows of vengeance, exposing his own tender heart.

Surprisingly, the supposed villain of the piece, Prince Jaifan, comes off as being rather sympathetic as well. You understand his obsession with Hadrian and almost pity it. His blind pursuit and capture of the Scourge of Rhiad hurt Jaifan in a subtle way that you have to read to comprehend completely. The other characters are right on target, their natures familiar to people who have read Ms. Owens’s works yet equally engaging to those who have not. The plot is gripping, the dialogue delivers its impact in all the right places and the sex is so hot, you can feel the heat wafting from the page.

Sections of this tale are unabashedly erotic in nature and thus truly spellbinding for those who like their sexy, gorgeous men to get down and dirty with each other.
