The first book was promising, and while I enjoyed the middle of this book... I'm not loving these cliffhanger endings. 😅 Honestly, the end of this particular book actually left me feeling kinda disheartened, and I can't quite put my finger exactly on why, other than the fact that plot-wise, there aren't any twists keeping me interested and the arcs feel rather forced in a box they don't fit.

The workings of the islands are very interesting. I like the idea of the strongholds and become more of what you already are, but feel like it could be explored a little more thoroughly. Also just a personal pet peeve, but they use names way too much in dialogue lol.

These kids are violent. Woof.
Ending took all the breath out of me which I think was the point. Looking forward to the last book in this trilogy. Depending on how it goes I saw there's about 20 more books in this shared universe so will likely check those out.

I think this was my least favorite book in the series, but since all the other books are super good, this ones decent!
