The Battle Academy has been besieged by an army of goblinoids under the control of the mother of the moonrats. They bide their time, keeping the academy out of the fight while Ewzad Vriil prepares to unleash a force of mutated monsters.
Jhonate and Faldon the Fierce have begun to unravel the mystery of the mother of the moonrat's identity, while Justan and Master Coal have learned the secret of Ewzad Vriil’s powers. Both groups scramble to find a way to help the academy, but neither of them knows the full extent of the forces they are up against.
Will they be able to gather the strength they need to win The War of Stardeon?
The War of Stardeon is Book Four of The Bowl of Souls series.
I was born in South Carolina and have lived all around the United states. Utah, New Mexico, Michigan and Tennessee.
I started reading novels in second grade and my love of Fantasy started with Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain series. I couldn't get enough, continued with David Eddings, Tolkein, Robert Jordan. All I wanted was to become a published writer.
The characters and concepts that eventually became the Bowl of Souls series started in my teens. I wrote short stories, kept notebooks full of ideas, and generally dreamed about my world constantly. There were several attempts at starting a novel over the years.
Not long after I was married, my wife told me to stop talking about the story and write it down. Here I am, many years and rewrites and submissions and rejection letters later taking the plunge into self publishing.

The War of Stardeon The Bowl of Souls, Book 4 By: Trevor H. Cooley Narrated by: Andrew Tell I love this series! Mayor's, wizards, creatures working together and fighting each other! Great character development and unique characters! Well developed plot and world development. Multiple layer plots and so intriguing! I was hooked in book one and each book draws me in more! Very exciting and clever imagination! Good narration!
I just finished a marathon reading of all The Bowl of Souls Books. As soon as I finished reading the book I wanted to write a review for it. This book was everything I hoped it would be. Many people will be happy to know that Justin is forced to decide between Jhonate and Vannya. I didn't like how he was indecisive between them although truth be told it was much more realistic because If I was in his place I would probably do the same. The story overall took care of many of the loose ends and hopefully the fifth book will take care of everything else. The story has quite a few surprises and interesting moments. I especially liked the growth of the bonded. I have to say the author out did himself. He told much of the in depth information we (the readers) needed to savour the story without it becoming tedious. All in all it was an awesome continuation of he Bowl of Souls series. I would also like to thank the author for his fast work. Many authors take along time to write their sequels and it would be ok if the amount of time they took reflected the books quality but it's rarely that way. I find all the great authors write awesome books in a relatively short amount of times.
Well there was a surprise! But it was presented with such a straight face that it took a while to swallow. Trevor is back in form as he add plenty of nuances to his magic systems. He also adds some interesting new characters especially Willum and the Axe. I also feell cheated that some of my favorite characters are now getting lesser and lesser words dedicated to them and I do hope it is made up in future books. The ending is an interesting set up to the next book though Trevor may now be stretching the bounds of his system to drag the story out. Lets wait and see. Onwards!
Notes: Writing seems to have settled into place, tone, pacing, etc. No real surprises are popping out. I enjoy the characters & most of the questions I had have been answered. Pretty good series but the rating reflects the audiobook experience.
Lol i love the Mystery and everything but i wish it would give you a little more insight into the answer or reveal a few of the answers but omg still amazing the whole war going on i wish Justin would use his awesome Duel swords more but eh kinda wish he choose the other girl again eh lol gotta love the view point of the Females in this novel just see for yourself you'll be thinking Yes thats EXACTLY how girls are lol i'm pretty sure Justan(Edge) is done bonding with things atm :/ kinda sucks but i guess if he had too many bonded then there would be too many bonded to keep up with i also love the fact the author is giving each and every one of Justan's bonded face time if you will but yeah again i just loe this novel so far :) can't wait to get home and start Book 5 XD
"Outstanding!" That's the only word I can use to describe the sheer enjoyment I got out of this novel, And make no mistake, this one really deserves the title of "novel"; Not just for length, but for the power of the events portrayed herein. A dark tide is coming, and betrayal and death walk in its shadow. Hold on to your seats and brace yourselves, because Trevor H. Cooley pulls out all the stops with this one, and really gives us an emotional roller coaster ride of adventure and tragedy.
Great book lots of action and big moves in overall plot. This book answered a few questions that I had chalked up author inconsistencies in the story so I was happy to see those answered in a way that made the world more believable. Overall loving this series.
Buy the set of books you WILL be "BONDED" to all your new friends for life.
Best set of books i read in a long time.the author writes in a way that you become like family to all the characters and cant wait to find out what adventures they are on nxt.
I'm still really loving these books, but I struggled a little with this one.
Part of that is probably personal preference as this book is focused quite heavily on warfare and I often lose interest at that point. It always feels to me like characters end up taking a back seat to action and that's kind of the case here.
Up until now this series has very much been about Justan's story, whereas in this book it felt like he took a step out of the spotlight and his story has slowed down a little. It's a shame because I'm the kind of reader who likes a clear protagonist to get behind and without him this book fell short.
Still a fun series though and have high hopes for a return to form in the next one.
I came back to this series after a long gap from #3 but it was surprisingly easy to get back into, probably dur to the non-stop action. The characters are good although their development is fairly minimal but that is OK as that is not the point of this book - it is the literary equivalent of an action movie If you need a break from thinking too much and want to pull out your enchanted war ax and settle back with a book of blood and thunder from cover to cover this is a book for you. Me, I already have the concluding volume and after a couple of fluffy books I fully intend to get back into the action recommended.
It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve read a book in 4 Days! I loved every minute of it! I recommend this book along with the rest of the books in this saga! 5 stars
Decided not to write a review on this novel individually. See the upcoming review of "Mother of the Moonrat" to see my feeling of this novel, and the following.
My Thoughts: And of course, I have my favourite character, the ogre. No, his name is not Shrek, it's Fist.
At this point this series is beginning to look like Robert Jordan's The Wheel Of Time series, as in, there is no end in sight. Having said that, the Messenger Of The Dark Prophet seems to have the best ending in all of the books in this series thus far. At least it ended on a positive note, well, until Book 5, that is. Mother Of The Moonrats ended the first 5 books' story arc. My advise would be not to start reading this series until you have all 5 books because you would want to dive into the next book as soon as you hit the cliffhanger ending.
I was looking for an epic fantasy read, I was glad that I stumbled onto this one.
Empirical Evaluation: Story telling quality = 4.5 Character development = 4.5 Story itself = 4 Writing Style = 4 Ending = 4 World building = 4.5 Cover art = 4 Pace = 4 Plot = 3.5 Narration = 5
"Inside there are green ribbons. Some times at night he cups them in his hands and presses them to his nose. The scent is faint but it is his favorite scent in the world."
Oh man what a continuation. So 'The War of Stardeon' is the fourth book in 'The Bowl of Souls' Saga. I will try to keep this short and sweet because if you had read the series by now you would probably already have a feel if you like the books or not. I will say that I absolutely loved this 4th book. The story finally clicked the way I was hoping for for the last 3 books. I try to rate books not on prose or grammar. Not on characters or story. Not even on pace or length (although all those factors help). But how much I truly enjoyed the book. It can be the most flawed book in the world but if I had truly enjoyed my time reading it then I'm going to rate it high. I am happy to say I enjoyed this 4th one a lot. The last half of the book I was completely and utterly sucked in and nothing was going to rip me away from this world. I was laying on my couch reading this book and every 30 minutes I would look up and realize I was in a different position and not remember moving. I was engrossed. Totally and utterly.
I will say something hit me hard in that last half of the book, when so many of these character I've read about met up and fought during the last battle. I realized what great characters that were here and I felt scared I was going to start reading about deaths that me, as a reader on my couch, could not prevent.
After all that is said and done, I'm sure nobody is surprised that I would say overall I loved it. Now more than ever am I excited to see what happens next!
"He didn’t understand the dwarf’s preferences when it came to food. His philosophy was that if it couldn’t talk back to you, it was okay to eat."
A very interesting series from the start, i managed to go through the whole 5 books and greatly loved this series. though the first two books were mostly coming of age, the story started getting better by book three. and towards the end it was really impressive.
The well written characters were that of Fist and DeathClaw; Justan was more annoying in the first two books, making mistakes which i believe were necessary for the books to move forward and strangely naive... but grew to be a good lead character. The most interesting story line was that of William and Theodore... would have loved to read a lot more about them and their exploits...
Loved the series , watch out for this Author he knows how to dish out a great story.
How Trevor H. Cooley comes up with some of this stuff and explains it without degrading parts of the story into "info dumps" is beyond me! Spirit magic, bonding wizards, Ewzad's magically altered creations, soul binding, not to mention the plot twists, innovative may actually be an understatement. Don't get me wrong the series isn't perfect, and Cooley does occasionally take what I'd consider a convenient way around problems, but it's still one of my favorite series I just hope the remaining books don't fall short.
In this book alot of things happen. 1. we finally get to deal with the symbol on his chest 2. we find out some interesting things about his mother. 3. we also get to meet up with some old friends.
And that is just a preview of what happens in this book. This series is awesome. I have read it multiple times and I will probably read it again when the next book comes out.
the story gets better and better. we really get to know the characters in this novel.
I really enjoyed this book. I'm a sucker for a series and I really like how the characters have developed over the course of the books. I am very much looking forward to the final book in this portion of The Bowl of Souls.
There were some typos that made me crazy, but there weren't a ton. The story is so engaging that I was able to get past them.
Big battles, fantastic confrontations, blood and Gore. This is a book of conflict, introducing new hero's and villains. The stage is expanding to include a vast war for good and evil where armies March against each other.
This is a fun fantasy series that kept me engaged and wanting to read more. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good and relatively quick book series that brings you hungry for the next book.
The main guy was once again annoying with his unrealistic goodness. I wore me down a bit. I liked the main villain. If not for the main character it would be a solid 4 stars. The world is very interesting and still holds many secrets.
The action intensifies in this 4th installment of the series. Characters long separated are brought together and others are separated forever. Again, the ending leaves you wanting to read the next one without leaving you hanging. Another excellent book!
