When Ella Black gets dumped by her girlfriend, she decides to drink herself to oblivion.
She wakes the next morning with no memory of how she got home, and a painful and gory lump on her knee.
As her life morphs into a hell of blood and pus, she starts to hear a voice that encourages her to commit grisly and vampiric acts. With each passing day, a part of Ella Black is lost, as she transforms into Eeriella, a terrible creature with an unholy appetite. Will Ella remain herself, or will she forever become a fiend?
A superb debut by Sophie. This one hooked me in straight away. There is no time wasted in this novella. Right from the getgo, the action kicks in and never lets up. I found it hard to sit this one down as I kept telling myself one more page so I could see what happens next. The overall story is like something from a Marvel comic or an old sci-fi movie, but it also has gore, violence, monsters and so much more. Definitely worth a read.
I was really looking forward to reading this story because I love the cover and the concept sounded so cool.
After a really bad night, in which Ella gets dumped by her girlfriend and gets so drunk she doesn't remember a single thing, she wakes up the next day without a hangover. But there's a painful, lumpy growth on her knee. One that slowly transforms her into something else...
Well, this gory and bloody novelette turned out to be such a fun trip!
Not only is Ella a very cool and interesting character, but the strange situation she's thrown into had me turning the gruesome pages fast because I couldn't wait to find out what was happening to her. I was also totally intrigued by her mysterious friend, and when the twists and turns started to take me into unexpected and exciting territory, I couldn't stop until the truth was revealed.
A highly entertaining and gruesome read. I thought I could guess where this story was going but nope! The plot took me completely by surprise. This definitely isn't your average body horror.
(Slight spoilers ahead): The only part I wasn't keen on were the main characters. Although they face bad people they do pretty twisted things themselves so it's hard to see them as the heroes. Aside from that this is a very well written, and occasionally very funny story. I'll be checking out more of the author's work for sure
An Exciting Debut! I blazed through EERIELLA: SUPER-FIEND, and now I'm eager to read more from Ingley. This novella marks the emergence of a unique and talented writer, whose arrival is a cause for celebration. Highly recommended!

After being dumped by her girlfriend, Ella wakes up hungover, with a strange lump on her knee and a fractured memory of the night before. Something weird seems to be stirring within the depths of her hangover, and Ella is about to go on a roller coaster ride into a world of gore and transformation.
An entertaining and infectiously fun horror story which leaves me looking forward to reading more from the author.
What starts off as disgusting and bizarre continues in ways you'll never suspect. Feels like a 90s direct to video horror film that you find browsing the stacks and becomes a bizarre favorite that you try to show to all of your friends.
I am really digging these shorter experiences lately and Eeriella: Super-Fiend was no different. This rating is based on creativity and emotion. One thing I always go into with any horror book I read, is 'how is this going to be different than things I have found previously?' Sophie has an insanely creative mind and I was thrilled to see I didn't quite see where this story was going to take me. The gore and emotion in this are what I would consider huge selling points. I don't know if I've ever read something that conveyed loneliness quite like this. The vision is unique and I thoroughly enjoyed the fast paced read. Sophie is a doll and I more than think she is an author to pay attention to. (She also did the art design for this cover I believe. If you aren't following her, you should be.)
A young woman gets very drunk one night at her local pub and wakes up with a strange wound that she cannot recall where it came from or how she wound up home.
Things quickly spiral out of control once her best friend and young doctor, Ben, comes over to assess her.
This was a very fun novella. It reminded me of Neil Gaiman with its prose and homages to horror comics.
If you enjoy body horror and monster horror, this is the book for you!
I was hesitant because I'm not a huge pus fan. Luckily, there wasn't much pus. But there was plenty of blood and gore and the stuff I love. The revenge plot never gets old. Is there some social commentary here? Probably. But there's definitely enough gore and horror violence to keep the reader going. I will be reading more Sophia Ingley.
Original. Short, but epic. And...dare I say...a happy ending! Loads of gore-drenched fun. Get it, read it, savor it. Do it again Sophie! This screams (literally!) for a follow-up. Ella and Zoe are amazing!
This was a fast paced & blood soaked riot of a story that you can blast through in an afternoon. I loved the creatures & wonder if we'll hear from them again....
I quite enjoyed the fact that there was a cat called Mr Bungle ☺️
Sophie’s debut novel packs a mighty macabre punch. She manages to flesh out the characters and relationships in a short space of time. If you’re in the mood for gore and horror, this is for you.
I look forward to reading more of the author’s work in the future.
I do love my horror to have a sense of humour! It’s a tough one to pull off but this little tale certainly manages to do just that. To have you chuckling and squirming in equal measure is a very good thing, and Eeriella: Super-fiend had me doing just that.
This novelette (I think) is the story of Ella, who has had a pretty depressing night. Dumped by her girlfriend she proceeds to drowns every sorrow, and then some. When she wakes the next morning with no memory of the night before (apart from the dumping) she knows something is amiss. And a massive growth/cyst type thing on her knee is certainly cause for concern.
But Ella is a trooper, and she battles on. That is, until her life spirals out of control and she becomes, well, changed. And hungry.
It’s hard to say too much about the plot for a story this length without giving it all away, but what I will say is there is plenty of nastiness within these pages. Gore and death is rife, with many moments where readers’ toes will curl. And then you’re laughing.
I had a blast with this story, this is what fun horror is all about. But don’t go in thinking everything will be OK in the end, because although it is funny, it is most certainly horrific!
"Ella declares to the people and cars passing that she is having a fucking shit night. She then vomits all over her Dr Martens."
The opening chapter to Eeriella: Super-Fiend came in swinging with an eerily relatable scene for those committed to docs and drinks. From there, the story winds its way through a hilarious and bloody time. Sophie truly excels at blending humor within gore descriptions, I laughed out loud several times throughout the book, and then the next second shuddered at her description of a bite wound. I'm still recovering from the whiplash from reading about a puss-filled wound to "a meal fit for an insane and carnivorous queen."
Sophie's novella made it apparent there is a severe lack of funny, bloody, and queer vampire queens in literature- and she is carving out her own fun niche. Have already recommended it to friends, and I hope her book gets picked up soon by a publisher so that we can also get a sequel ;)
I had so much fun reading this! It kept my attention from the first page and the action never stopped. Lots of gore, humor and a love story too. Also, I really dig the cover and the little drawings inside the book. This is the author’s debut and I can’t wait to read more from her! (Possibly a sequel!?!)
Ella wakes up after a disastrous night out and things can only get worse! I don't want to say too much without giving away the lot but this was a really fun read that went in a direction I was not expecting! Full of fun and gory moments. Great read can't wait to read more form Sophie Ingley!
Ella wakes up with no memory of the night before, a sabotaged relationship, and a mysterious wound on her leg. From there she starts a grisly and brutal transformation. A quick read that’s fun as hell!
I was lucky enough to read an advanced copy of this, as in, chapter by chapter as Sophie wrote it. I'd sit with my cup of tea, ready to read the next installment as it arrived in my inbox. I thought this was an exciting tale of nastiness, gore, love ( kind of) loneliness, and the pain of finding your way, or not... There are a few twists and turns that aren't predictable and plenty of surprises. This is a fantastic book and I'm glad I don't work with someone like Ella ( esp when she's hungry) A brilliant debut
