As Captain of an NHL team, I'm rich, successful and have women falling at my feet.

I thought my life was perfect until a pint sized blonde checked into me one day, knocking my life off course.

Wolfie Williams is sass personified. Beautiful, fiery, funny and oh so sexy. With every eye roll she gives me I become more and more wrapped around her finger, making me realise she is my missing piece.

The only problem is she hates me and she’s heading back to England in five months.

So I’m against the clock to make her understand that she can’t live without me either.

Lulu started writing by accident, and somehow found herself stuck in a fictional world of ice hockey, baseball and billionaires. A world she has no plans to leave. She's the creator of The New York Players Series, The Tuesday Club Series, and The New York Lions - the worst team in the M.L.B.

More recently she's ventured across the Atlantic to where her latest novel is set - the beautiful cities of Oxford and Cambridge, and the annual rowing showdown on the River Thames.

She's a big fan of strong heroines, because those fierce alphas need someone to keep them in check. You'll find her navigating her way through Romance Land one HEA at a time, and trying to figure out the latest social media platform she needs to post to.

I really wanted to like this one. The preview drew me in, hot NHL player who falls for a visiting British women he literally runs into on the street. Love at first sight for him but not so much for her. It started out strong but then I found that the slow burn was just too slow for me. I enjoy writers from all areas of this earth and the inclusion of their cultural norms for language. However, I did find the reference to many hockey related terms that sounded more like a soccer or rugby match to be a bit of a turnoff. If Wolf was referring to a hockey game as a 'match' that's fine, but Jasper referring to his skates as boots or his hockey bag as a kit bag are definitely not North American terms. On the positive side, the writing is strong and the story line unique so if you like a slow burn and a guaranteed HEA, give this one a try. 2.5 stars from me.

Loved the banter in this and a slow burn too. I need to read about Jasper’s friends now…

I’m excitedly planning my first ever trip to New York next month so I basked in Wolfie’s enjoyment of the city as a fellow Brit - although I’d have travelled more than she did, but anyway.

Complete story, available on ku.

*This reread was exactly what I needed. I love these two so hard.

This book made me SO HAPPY! I feel all squishy inside and my face hurts from smiling so much at Jasper & Wolfie. I have wanted to read their story after seeing them in The Secret and I was not disappointed!

My first sports romance and I loved it. It was a slow burn and we truly got to see their friendship blossom before diving into the spicy bits. It is a dual pov, and the character development was spot on and I feel in love with both Jasper and Wolfie.

I stumbled upon Lulu Moore, and after reading this I am going to purchase all her books. Her writing style is so engaging, I devoured this book.

Obsessed. Finish in one day. Did I mention obsessed?

Now, I’ll be the first to admit this shit is unrealistic, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t the cutest book I’ve ever read. So many little heart flutters for the sweetness that is Jasper Jacobs and his precious obsession with Wolfie Williams.

First off, I am with Wolf on this one – take the freaking five month move to New York and explore while you can!! I loved this aspect of taking a leap of faith and never looking back. I loved the friendship/sisterhood she and Freddie have but I loved how much Freddie supported the move and was “with her” every step of the way.

Who would have thought while on the adventure of a lifetime she would (literally) run into the man of her dreams. I LOVED how she was so short with him in the beginning. We read along as their love story unfolded. I loved how cheesy he was and how much he had to pursue his Cub. From the coffees to the jersey and the jammies and everything in between. I loved how sweet and thoughtful the rugged hockey player was to his little Cub. Though it was pretty predictable I loved their patience and truly developing a friendship first.

My heart did break in half when she flew back to England and I wasn’t surprised when Jasper flew to get his girl. I cannot wait to read the next one!!!!!

I’ve been wanting to read Lulu Moore for months. I was about to start her newer series when I realized she had a hockey one. Hockey you say? What is Sarah absolutely crazy for? Hockey boys. So I dove into Jasper and have no regrets.

Jasper!!! This man. Top tier boyfriend material.

Wolfie has had her heart smashed and has escaped to NY temporarily. She wants nothing to do with love. Jasper is the NHL hottie who can and does have every girl he’s ever desired. Until Wolfie crashes into him. Literally. This book has me smiling non stop.

🏒hockey romance
🏒he falls first
🏒friends to lovers
🏒slow burn
🏒girl squad goals
🏒British terminology

I loved everything about this debut! Wolfie and Frankie are hilarious. The friendships were incredible! MFW - IYKYK 😍 I cannot stop swooning 🫠, matching pajamas, the sweetness and sexiness that is JASPER! 🤩😍

I can’t wait to dive into Cooper and the other hockey boys in this series.

I don’t have enough words to say how much I adore this book!
Jasper is the ultimate book boyfriend- seriously swoony. His pursuit of Wolfie, his super cute nickname for her, the way he takes care of and loves her……perfection.
The friendships in this book are amazing and you will fall for all these characters. I love how their stories are all connected and continue throughout the rest of this series.

This is a real slow burn but it never felt too long/ drawn out to me- I love the sexual tension between them and the strong friendship they built. Your heart will break at points but rest assured it is all worth it in the end!

These characters and so many of the scenes have really stuck with me and I’ve re-read it a few times, it’s become one of my comfort reads that will always make me feel good. Can’t recommend this book highly enough.

Holy hotness!!! This was a slow burn that was so delicious and well worth the wait. I was flipping the pages late into the night, desperate for Jasper & Wolfie to get together. When they did, I was not disappointed. They were fire!

The author did a fabulous job of reeling me in and making me root so much for these two. The ending was just perfect (no spoilers here) and I’m diving right into Cooper’s book, because I need more! More Jasper & Wolfie and more Cooper & Freddie. Bring on all the ice hockey hotties.

not an enemies to lovers but still so good!!!

Oh my word this book was so amazing!!

Jasper is running late to a team practice when he stops for a coffee, and runs into a English spitfire, spilling her coffee all over her. She immediately expresses her disinterest for him, and despite his offered, refuses help and runs off.
From that moment on Jasper is a man obsessed and I was here for it! He is able to track her down and relentlessly pursues her till she gives him a chance, but she certainly didn’t make it easy on him. She’s here in the states for work, and is only here for 6 months. Can he convince her to give him a chance before she has to go back?

I loved so much about this book! I loved that he had to work so hard for her attention! She did not give in to him easily. I loved that she was so grumpy with him!
Their banter and tension was so good.
I’m so excited for the rest of the series!!

A relentless delight. My friend Justin recently expressed surprise that goopy hockey romances are a thing that I like a whole lot, and honestly, no one was more surprised to learn this than I was. I think it is fair to say I am a little acerbic, and many of the things I love most in the world are a touch more highbrow (or at least middlebrow) than this, but there you have it. For the last 3 years or so, I have been hooked on sports romances, mostly hockey. I like sports smut, and I cannot lie. This was a very good iteration of the breed, and New York set to boot.

Moore understands that the best stuff isn't necessarily the sex, it is the tension. In this book she gave us that buzz. The leads did not so much as kiss until well after the halfway point though there was instalove in the air (not to worry, they made up for the delay). The chemistry throughout was explosive. Early on in my relationship with an ex (before he became my current and then my former and while I was extracting myself from the previous current and then former, and so was withholding moving forward physically) said to me that he spent every day feeling like he was watching a drop of water quivering as it waited to drip from a faucet. This book felt like that.

I loved Jasper and Wolfie. (It is a terrible nickname, but then Jasper creates a personal nickname from that, "Cub", which was adorable.) I liked their friends and families. I loved their conversations. It is pretty clear Moore knows very very little about hockey, but I will forgive that. It is pretty clear she does not know a ton about NYC either. (One example of many; The best bagels that they have ever tasted are at a diner run by an Italian man who has a recipe he won't share. No. You will never find the best bagels at a diner. Even if you did, they would be brought in. Bagels are not made at diners. I don't know any Italian bagel makers, though I purchase my pappardelle from a Jewish man who makes transcendent fresh pasta, so it is possible. Also, I am not sure there are diners owned by Italians within the five boroughs.) Anyway, it didn't matter too terribly much.

One note: I listened to the audiobook, and I was thrilled that the female narrator, who was Brilisth (as was Wolfie), did flawless American accents. The male narrator, who was American (as was Jasper), was not as successful with the British accents, so readers from the UK might not be as thrilled with the narration, but I thought it was very good..

4.75!

I think my only con for this book is that there wasn’t enough sex scenes.

Everything else the storyline, the fluff, the chemistry I fell in love with end of this meet me want to read the next book in the series because I see the chemistry between the couple for that book.

I’m also very happy that this isn’t a reformed playboy kind of thing or Alyssa didn’t give off that to me. This was a man who hadn’t been dating for awhile because he’s been focusing on his career, and by awhile I mean a few months, but him noticing, himself, that he wants a real relationship.

That’s what I loved about this! You could tell that this was on him for everything to go right. Because she was fighting the attraction and him showcasing that they could be friends first, so it is very soft side, that I didn’t know I like to my H’s!

I would definitely read read this, and I’m super happy that I got it in physical.

I love trying books with pink covers (a fact I just completely made up), and this was going well very early, and then I lost all interest at about 37% (that was on a knife's edge for the fact that the fact he was a pro hockey player gave him ✨ non-stalker legitimacy ✨) when the word bunny came across the pages and....bye.

I’ve officially discovered the cutest book boyfriend ever to be written!

Jasper had me melting over how hard and fast he fell for Wolfie. His pursuit of a relationship with her was so wholesome and sweet (and yes, at times bordered on stalker level. 😅) But, I couldn’t get enough of their friendship and the very slow burn of chemistry that eventually couldn’t be ignored by Wolfie.

I’m pretty sure I smiled the whole time whilst reading this book, it made me happy and I’m so excited to read the rest of the series.

This was my first time reading @lulumoore in preparation for RARE London, kicking myself that I hadn’t read her sooner as I have serious FOMO of everyone reading the latest release in the series, Huck.

this was a re-read for me. I had read this years ago and needed a refresher.

Re-reading made me realize how much I miss this series and definitely doing a full re-read with audios.

This follows Jasper and Wolfie. Wolfie ran to the US to escape her ex and is there for the next 5 months. She literally has a run in with Jasper, where he spills coffee all over her. He was immediately smitten with her and became a little bit obsessed tracking her down. Once he does their relationship blossoms into a beautiful friendship and then evolves from there.

I forgot how panty melting Jasper was. Talk about swoony. THAT MAN!!! He knows exactly what Wolfie needs before she even knows and isn’t shy about his feelings for her even while he gives her the time she needs.

The audio was perfection and really elevated the story for me. I am so excited to continue on my reread with these audios.

Overall: 4.5

I circled back and read Jasper. I don’t think anything was spoiled for me by reading Cooper first, but I did wish I could have seen their first meeting in Jasper and get a glimpse of Cooper’s feelings beginning to start.⁣

Having said that, I enjoyed Jasper very much! I feel like I should add a Slow Burn Warning here because friends, it was. But…the payoff is worth the wait, as is the lead-up and all the little moments Jasper and Wolfie shared on their way to their HEA!⁣

Jasper is just a big cinnamon roll of a man! He showed his feelings for Wolfie in the cutest ways and had mountains of patience while waiting until she was ready for something more…hence the slow burn. ⁣

Wolfie was coming off a bad (long) relationship and took off for a work assignment in New York to get away and regroup. I do wish she was a little more self-confident because she absolutely deserved to be. At the team’s Halloween party fundraiser, she was more of the badass that I wanted her to be, with a little help from Freddie, of course.⁣

But the thing I really loved about this book, and Wolfie, was that she’s in her late 30s in the book. Being a member of the 40+ club, I absolutely love seeing more mature couples! Wolfie was 38, which for the record is by no means old! Everyone’s timeline to love looks different. No one’s love story is the same or happens at the same time. There is no age limit on finding your person! ⁣

This is a series I would definitely recommend for fans of sports romance! Both of these hockey players are solid book boyfriend contenders!⁣

Jasper is the first book in the New York Players series by Lulu Moore, featuring a fun strangers to lovers romance for Jasper and Wolfie. He’s an NHL captain ready to find a partner, and she’s a British career woman needing a fresh start after a bad break-up. Crashing into each other changed the trajectory of both of their lives. Can two people from different countries really find a lasting connection in such a short period?

Jasper and Wolfie were had a great meet cute, funny banter, and their slow burn chemistry kept me on the edge of my seat! Jasper definitely gave me golden retriever vibes when it came to her, and she was feisty and fragile at the same time. The friendships are top notch in this book, which lays the foundation for a great series! I previously read Huck (Book 5), so it was fun to go back to the beginning. I listened to the audio version narrated by Alyssa Avery & Bradley Ford, who did a great job bringing the different characters to life! They were able to convey the comedy, the chemistry, and the underlying emotions in an entertaining way. I look forward to catching up on the rest of the series!

I received an ALC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was so fun to read! the texts and friends of both MC's had me DYING 😂😂😂 Wolfie definitely made him work for it and he was absolutely OBSESSED since day oneee! she went through so much before coming to new york and their friendship was so cute and helped her warm up to him in the perfect way!

I loved the hockey aspect of this story and i really liked how their was actual hockey in the book! her first game experience was so real and i loved it! It made me miss back home since im a hugeeee NYR fan and love MSG and the city so much ❤️💙

Even though the conflict made sense i wish it never had to happen but i get it and honestly it made the ending so much more emotional (in the best way) so i cant be too mad at it 😂😂 Freddie at the end had my screaming for joy - their HEA is one of my favorites 😍😍

Highly recommend if you love hockey romances and slow burns with the cutest couple⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

She’s come to NY to work and mend her heart. He’s the captain of the local hockey team and is willing to do anything to win a chance with her.

These characters are so relatable and so releasing! Wolfie is terrified of repeating past mistakes while Jasper is adorably clueless. With some not so subtle pushes from their friends they stumble their way from strangers to friends to more. The book is funny and heart-warming, with so many great supporting characters. I especially love Molly and her ‘Jessica Fletcher’ routine! And the dynamic and conversations between the guys are so realistic you feel like you are there with them. The scene where the track her down was so funny that I literally spit out coffee while reading it. And the conversations between Wolfie and Freddie could have been copied from my own with my best friend!
This book is a great story that all my hockey romance fans will enjoy.

Lulu Moore knows how to make a big tough hockey guy into the sweetest guy ever. Jasper Jacobs has dedicated his life to hockey and now that he is nearing the end of his career he is realizing he doesn’t have someone to share his life with.

Wolfie Williams is taking time away from her normal life in London to work in the US branch of her company when she literally runs into a tree of a man. Once Jasper looks at Wolfie is is a goner. He certainly had the beginnings of a stalker personality but in the sweetest way. He knew from one look that Wolfie was his person, he just needed to get her on the same page as him. Also his nicknames for her! Cub 🥰 MFW (took me a bit to figure that one out but once I did more🥰🥰!)

Now time for Cooper!!

This started off so good......and then I rolled my eyes as much as the h did in the book 😂😂🙄

The beginning was fun! Virginia or Wolfie aka cub 😬🙄🙄🙄🙄 is in New York from England to get a new start after her bf (I think she was with him for 10 years?) cheats on her. Shes 37, distrustful and just trying out the single life. She and Jasper literally collide into each other after she gets shit text from her ex and shes in a bad mood. So she tells jasper to fuck off and is a mean biatch to him. And he loves her for it 👀😳😳😐 okur.

He gets help from his ice hockey teammates on how to find her, getting her info, delivering fun gifts and coffees to her so she'll melt a bit for her.

and then.......from about 30-80%, she thinks of him as a friend and hes taking it slow. SLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. As in, he doesn't even try to kiss her on the mouth until 80% until his teammates and his brother are telling him to move his ass and take his women 😬😬😬🤦 I don't know about your SO, but my man has never huddled around thanksgiving with his buddies and talked about his relationship with them......guys just don't do that that I know of and my husband will say the same I'm sure haha! cringe.

For most of the book, hes trying to inch his way into her heart and not spook her and shes having mental breakdowns about how shes only in NY for 6 months and this has to end sometime and how shes not made to be a sports guys girl. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Shes kind of a bitch and rolls her eyes at him a lot and he must have some kind of tick in his eye because he winks at her 33 times in this book. I looked it up. 33 times. jaysus crust. He should get that checked out 😐

The third act breakup was just so unnecessary. She sees a picture of him and this OW (a loco psycho woman who is prancing around NY with a guy that looks like him trying to make something out of nothing). She KNOWS that the picture of the couple is not him but shes already assuming that in the future, that he'll either cheat on her or othe women will entice him while hes on the road so she breaks up with him and he cries. The author has him whining and crying when they break up. ugh. 😬😬😬 I don't mind a certain type of golden retreiver type of guy in my books, but I don't want them as a whiney little bitch ass either 🤔🤔😐 She packs up her shit and flies all the way back to England and his friends and brother tell him to get her back and propose.

I did like some of the funny moments between him and his teammates. Those were funny. 🤷😂😂 So extra star for those times.

then they live happily ever after 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

now I'm going to see how often she rolls her eyes at him. brb.

She is in NYC for a temporary job assignment and not looking for any romantic attention. He is a famous professional hockey player that just spilled coffee on his future wife.

Victoria Virginia Williams, known as "Wolfie" to her friends is leaving the UK to take a temporary job assignment in New York City. Looking for a fresh start she is hoping this change will help her heal from the pain of her last relationship. With zero interest in dating or any type of romance she is determined to make her time in the US beneficial.

Jasper Jacobs is the team captain and a legendary hockey player. He has grown disenchanted with temporary relationships and finds himself longing to settle down. When he meets the most beautiful (and most upset) woman he has ever seen he can't explain the draw he feels to her. This draw results in some sneaky tricks to try to get her attention making Jasper have to work for a woman's attention for the first time in his life.

Over time, Jasper finds a way to slowly tear down all of Wolfie's walls. She has some baggage that she still carries around with her and he is determined to carry every last piece of it. Jasper is charming and thoughtful in a way that Wolfie can't resist as the two slowly start to explore this connection they share.

Dual POV, Professional hockey player, sunny and grumpy, spicy.

This is such a cute story but beware the SLOW BURN. These two spend their time building emotional intimacy before getting into bed and I really enjoyed that dynamic. Jasper is a Cinnamon Roll with a cayenne pepper glaze. He falls first so hard that he was adorable. Wolfie is a hard woman to win but Jasper refuses to let her ignore him. The MCs acknowledge their trauma is part of their problems in a very mature way. Sweet HEA and Epilogue.

I devoured this book. I could not put it down. Life was on hold. I love Lulu’s writing, humour, the chemistry she puts on the page and the characters. Gah! The characters. Within a couple of chapters I was already 100% sure I would be reading all of Lulu’s other books because I needed to know the stories of Jasper and Wolf’s friends.

Jasper… major swoon. I almost died when I figured out what his nickname for Wolfie meant. I feel in love with him almost immediately.

And Wolfie… she was impossible not to love. She had her insecurities and self doubt that can sometimes be off putting in books if not done correctly but this was perfect. I felt it. I was there with her and completely understood her hesitancy.

I also loved that it didn’t end the way I kept thinking it was heading, which was 100% for the better.

I adored this story. Looking forward to reading the rest.
