Anna Svoboda is a stay at home mom and a part-time programmer. When she isn’t writing, working, or taking care of her family, she usually hides from the outside world with a book in her hand.
Author of various romance novels, her stories center around strong female heroes and realistic relationships. She loves building her own complex worlds and listens to her characters’ opinions while writing. Then she puts them through unimaginable torment for messing up with her plot.

I think I might just not be an erotic romance reader. The spiciness is fine, but it gets so repetitive and boring without deeper plot & relationship building. That certainly isn’t a criticism of this novel alone, but an issue I have with the genre at large that biases my reading perspective.
Minus the establishment of a nonverbal safe gesture, this was a solid depiction of kink, consent, & safety. I appreciated how much aftercare was shown and discussion of subspace. I also like how it addressed common misconceptions of kink, & how it focused on bdsm beyond pain.
Azreal was adorable, and quite possibly the perfect book Dom. Scott was so sweet.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Diana. She was incredibly average and unremarkable. I found it a little pathetic that the one noteworthy thing about her was her new found s3x drive. Mostly she was incredibly cynical, repetitively insecure, and more than a bit stupid. She also demonstrated constant misogyny (slut shaming, fat shaming, kink shaming, purity culture nonsense ) directed towards herself & others.
The writing was mediocre with tons of grammatical & phrasing issues, as well as dated, cringey dialogue. The most irritating part is that the writing voice is clearly British English, but the characters & setting are both American (as referenced in Diana’s remark about having the “whole American dream). (For example: we don’t say bloody, cabriolet, roast meat, cosseted, timetables, have a shower, etc and contrary to popular belief most of us don’t talk about guns casually.)
Overall this was alright. Definitely better than Red
4.5! I knew this book would be steamy but .. WOWWWW. It’s the entire book of steam PLUS a nice storyline. Warning you will be all squirmy while reading in public and I will be recommending to everyone!
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/opinions above are my own.
Solid four star read. Loved having a book with older characters as live interests because they are few and far between. I think it developed the kink aspect very well and the slight fantastical aspect won’t deter anyone who enjoys contemporary. The characters were very well written and the pacing was just right. Just an enjoyable read overall.
This book was incredible. Yes it was filled with spice and lots and lots of BDSM scenes but it was so much more than that dealing with the characters on a much more emotional level that made it an absolutely stunning read for someone like me who could relate to the main female lead so much.
Diana is a middle aged woman, she’s got a mum tum, self confidence issues and cellulite and is ‘real’. When her birthday comes around and her life decides to crumble as she loses her job and catches her husband cheating she decides to go to a hotel bar and drown her sorrows. It’s at this bar that she encounters Azrael - he’s your typical book lead male; tall, dark, handsome and rich. So why on earth would he want a plain Jane? And that is where the author’s fantastic writing comes in.
This other-worldly man (he’s actually not a man but something else) see’s the beauty in a damaged person and with the use of BDSM and friendship helps to rebuild them and their confidence. With quotes such as
“The shape of your body doesn’t matter, pet. It’s your body, and you’re not getting another one, so why waste your time being ashamed of it or even hate it?”
And
“You're a praise kink girl with a rather fragile self-confidence. I don’t need to put you down. Your subconscious will do it for me. What I have to do is compliment you to finally get it into your thick head that you are beautiful.”
Diana isn’t the only damaged Pet that Azrael has, he also introduces Scott - again another non-typical lead character - short, balding and with a bit of a beer belly. He’s had a rough past but Azrael sees something in him and something in Diana and the relationship between them both grows whilst still maintaining their relationship with Azrael too. They explore kink in a really honest and responsible way comparing pain and praise, Dom and sub etc and it makes for a really enjoyable read. It’s not all sex and emotion although the book is heavy on those too but there are some genuinely laugh out loud moments too with all three characters being brilliant and working fantastically together too.
𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘐 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘪𝘵? 𝘠𝘦𝘴. 𝘈𝘮 𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵? 💯 Did it meet my expectation? Fuck yeah! It even exceed my imagination. Fine. Tbh I don't even know what to expect, I have little knowledge about BDSM save for Fifty Shades I watched with my aunt and cousins during high school 🙈🙈 but this one is totally different as Azrael is not really human.
I think the author explore and explain well the interesting world of Az. Diana is an interesting character that you could somehow relate with her self sabotage, body issues and by her lack of confidence ( in a way) 🤫 the sex𝘶𝘢𝘭 awakening and kinks unlocked are completely different story lol 😹 𝘚𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘥𝘢𝘺... 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘈𝘻𝘳𝘢𝘦𝘭, 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘖 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧𝘤, 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦. I stayed for the whole course because of my curiosity, and the fact that it scares me to death that someone might know I read this is a whole other level terrifying ( not enough to stop me from sharing it on my IG tho 🤦♀️) and my friends keep on teasing my virgin self to share with them what I know and I found it funny because truth be told, the idea of having sex with someone scared the shit out of me, I guess we can never be ready. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘷𝘪𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴!🤐🤣🤣😭😭🤣🤣And despite how beautifully it's written, how they feel safe and how Diana experienced full bliss, it still doesn't convince me 𝘓𝘖𝘓 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘩𝘢...
Anyways lol, if you love 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘯, *𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘐 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘮𝘶𝘵 *𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 😁😁, and explore different kinks, you should read this. I swear, you would never regret this. It's panty dripping, muscle straining, bedsheets gripping kind of a ride. I wonder what it feels like to ride Az while holding the horns tho 🙈🤦♀️🤣🤣🤣
What the what!?!? Diana is turning 45, lost her job and found out her husband is cheating on her on that day. If anyone needed a drink, it was her. She went to a local hotel bar and imagine her surprise when a handsome gentleman buys her a drink. Diana has been gaslit by her husband and disrespected by her 20-year old son who does nothing but play video games all day. Diana decides to take the handsome gentleman up on the offer to continue drinking in his hotel room.
Azrael Black is looking for a human. Diana is perfect. He can tell that she is looking for something that he can give her. Take away her worries. Azrael invites Diana to his house for some fun. She is ready to explore something different. Azrael knows just what she needs. Diana has no problem being his sub for a while. BDSM is new and exciting and she enjoys spending time with Azrael. All too soon, she starts to feel like something is missing. Azrael shows her things that she never thought she would like. Especially when she meets Scott and Morienne.
This was an interesting exploration into BDSM and supernaturals. The complete acceptance will ease readers into a lifestyle they might not be comfortable reading about. I loved it. The supernatural aspects are not in your face or at the forefront of this book. This book focuses on a woman finding her herself after enduring a lot of change. Doing what it takes for her to become the butterfly she is supposed to be.
This one is a little difficult to review. This is erotica, and that's fine. It's not romance. I was interested throughout. It was refreshing in that it was an older women (not older than me), she was 45. I liked the BDSM aspect. It was really pleasure bondage. Not really any pain for the FMC. So this had a lot of dominance and bondage that I hadn't read about before. I did have some trouble picturing what was happening. A lot of the contraptions didn't make sense to me, but it wasn't too bad. They also bring in her love interest at 60%, which is very unusual. Also, the MMC is a demon. Which was also fine. I had a hard time picturing Scott (the love interest), who was brought in at 60%. I didn't really get much personality from him. He was bi and liked pain. He was a people pleaser. Not any more depth than that. I didn't really feel the connection. I also want to say that I don't know if the human body can take that much sex. I found myself cringing a lot. If you rubbed any part of the human body for hours everyday, it would get injured, but this is fiction, not biography. Even after all of the misgivings I had about some things, I still enjoyed the book overall. I didn't skim and it kept me interested and engaged, which is a marker of a good book for me. I'm going to try some other books by this author as well. If you like to read about bondage, I highly recommend.
What a unique and unconventional story this was. I loved it. What did I love the most? Well, it was the fact that Diana was not your typical female character as is more often that not written about in books of this genre. She is a older woman, who, on her birthday found her world crumbling into dust. She lost her job and her husband. While trying to drown her sorrows in a glass of whisky, fate sends her to Azrael. What starts as a one night thing, blossoms into something more. While there is a strong D/s component to this book, it is one that is totally consensual. As Diana explores this lifestyle she comes up against her lack of self-worth but Azrael sees something much more in her and it becomes his job to give her the ability to love herself, empower herself and to heal from a now ended marriage. Azrael is not who he seems, but he knows and has faith in Diana as she takes this journey. Then he throws in a little twist that will totally change her life.
Such a good book! While I was so happy it had a happy ending, I was sad to see it end.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
TLDR; Bad writing, bad dialog, even worse characters.
Despite some positive aspects like a solid depiction of kink, consent, and safety, this erotic romance novel left much to be desired. The characters were largely unimpressive, with the protagonist Diana being particularly unremarkable and often displaying problematic attitudes. The writing quality was subpar, riddled with grammatical issues and cringeworthy dialogue. Additionally, the inconsistent use of British English in an American setting was jarring.
The plot was lackluster, making it a chore to get through each page. This experience reinforced my general dislike for the erotic romance genre, which often sacrifices deeper plot and relationship development for repetitive spicy scenes.
While there were a few redeeming qualities, such as the adorable Azreal and sweet Scott, overall the book's flaws in character development, writing style, and plot progression made it an unsatisfying read.
Okay first of all this book had me completely hooked!!! I normally do not read books like this cause I find it a better experience to put myself in the story but this one took me completely by surprise. Diana had a sting of bad luck in the beginning and that lead her to Azrael. Azrael was definitely the charmer. I did not expect the spice that quick in the book but boy I was damn glad!!!
This book had so much spice! Like every other page throughout the whole book but it also had a story line which made it even better!
Scott helped make the story as well and seeing him and Diana flourish was amazing!
It did not end how I thought it would but having it play out that way made even more sense!
An interesting story and actually a glorious transformation. Diana is an average woman, trying to “do it all” - work full time, raise a son, take care of all the housework and be more like a maid than a wife to her husband. When that all falls disastrously apart, she falls into Azrael’s hands and, over time, the butterfly transforms into her true self. This is a VERY kinky story, but the underlying themes are finding, and ACCEPTING, your true nature no matter what others say and realizing that no one fits into one box. We like what we like and we love who we love. The road to fulfillment is different for everyone.

Wow, this was a unique book for me and I loved every second of it. Diana’s whole world was falling apart and she needed reminding how wonderful she truly was. So much about herself she never let herself figure out because she was shoved into a little box by society and her husband. Azreal broke her out of that shell with their BDSM relationship. Eventually, Azreal brought Scott in to play with them and love grew. I loved the self-discovery: not just from the main characters. I loved the twists and turns in the story. So many times I thought things would end and I wasn’t ready for that. If you are looking for something with a spice level through the roof and something just a little different from the other books out there right now. You will definitely find it here!
Absolutely well written, full of steam, sugar and spice, with lots of action and adventure into BDSM. Has a great storyline/plot that will keep you inside Diana's head till the end. Will also make you wish you were her. This author is able to put you into the story using well developed characters and weaving her magic. Diana was given a bad deal by her husband but meets a man who promises her the best time of her life and DELIVERS. Glad she took it so later in her life she has no regrets. This book is one that you can read again and again. Would read other books by this author. Well done, fabulous story. Would recommend to others. I am an ARC and leave this unbiased, honest review.
Demon smut… was not expecting that! Dianna walks in on her husband sleeping with the neighbor on her birthday she runs to a hotel meets this man, we’ll thinks he’s a man. It’s game over from there the shapeshifting demon man takes her on this journey of bdsm where she meets one of his other “slaves” and ends up falling for him (Scott). Dianna throughout the story builds her life back from a broken housewife to a power force. Overall there’s a lot of spice and a decent story line. Check triggers!
“I can shift between my demon and human forms freely. Well, except when I get a little too excited,” he chuckled. “That’s when I turn into a demon, whether I want it or not.”

Really enjoyed this book, as I have everything else from this author tbh, really good balance of steamy content, easy to follow story line and had me laughing several times, FL is realistic as a normal 45yr old woman and nice to see an older bunch of 'normal' characters rather than all 20yr old super model billionaires (yes ML is loaddd but also not tho normal kind of character lol). Highly recommended, just not for reading at work! It's honestly one of a very few books I could read more than once.
When I recieved the opportunity to read an advance ARC, I jumped at the chance. This cover alone is worth having this book. I love a good romance and quickly feel in love with the power play dynamic between Diana and Azrael. This book is not for the faint hearted or easily offended . While I thought I had a strong grasp on the world of BDSM - I had to google a few things. Finding out what Azrael was , was a great twist. Thank you Anna, for giving me the opportunity to read this early release.
OMG. This book is such a good read! I was literally in a book slump before, but this book definitely helped me through it. I literally loved every second of it! It is something new that I usually don't read, if you are looking for the main characters to be middle-aged this is the one! If you are looking for a book that is all spice, this is the one! I usually do not like 3rd POV, but I was able to put myself on Diana's shoes and I literally fell in love with Azrael!
3.8 stars rounding up. Really great, pretty original story. Requires suspension of disbelief as the characters don’t react to the supernatural element in a realistic way. Pretty good on the bdsm/consent discussion. Needed a proofreader badly, however.
Left some things unanswered but had a ton of unique ideas and I’m glad I gave this one a shot. Would recommend if you like D/s and paranormal romance.
My god I think this book solidified the fact that I actually think I hate this genre. The alleged romance didn’t appear until more than half way through the book and even then it was hardly there. No storyline, no depth to the characters, riddled with typos and the writing wasn’t even that good. I really need to read full descriptions of books from now on because I wouldn’t have read that otherwise
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book was soooo hot I absolutely loved it with some sexy monster pein! This book had me laughing at points while being hot and bothered for basically the entire book! It is a definite must read and I've been telling all my friends about it.
I loved this book! This is the first book I have read by this author, and I hope to read more like it. The characters were amazing, the storyline itself, and the way it was written, was fantastic, and the fact that there wasn't a major plot didn't bother me at all.
I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving an ARC.
This is a new author for me and I am so glad I took the chance. This story completely sucked me in. Had to read till 3 am because I had to finish and even then I was sad that I reached the end of the book. Really need to read more of this author. Great worldbuilding, enough steam and a HEA what more could you want.
I normally do not care for the super "spicy" type books, but Anna mixed in just the right amount of "spice". It's not vulgar, or trashy its realistic along with the Diana. She is a "real" woman, not a supermodel or Barbie type but an everyday woman like the rest of us! Loved this book and the characters so much! Thanks for another wonderful book, Anna!!!!
Absolutely love everything from Anna Svoboda, you can never go wrong with one of her books. This was such a great story, mid way and wondering how this can possibly end up with a happily ever after, but she pulls it off in an amazing way. 👏 so nice to have characters who aren't young and perfect and get such a wonderful pov from a regular person like us!
One word - SPICY. I loved Diana, our main character. Most of the characters I read about are in that 18-25 age bracket, so it was nice to read something different for a change. The emotion we feel from what Diana is going through was real and raw, and the author did a great job of portraying this. The book kept me hooked throughout and overall was another great book from this author.
I wasn’t prepared for the spice in this book. If I’m honest, I knew what I was getting into yet I was amazed! Loved it from start to finish. Character development was incredible. Written beautifully. Definitely recommend and will be reading this again (just not in public AT ALL)
I absolutely loved this book! Spicy, yet oddly wholesome. Positive character growth, yet not too overwhelmingly unbelievable. It’s nice to see a badass demon in a book that doesn’t end up the same way as most other books, which is most certainly Anna’s style. If you want a body positive, sexually honest and enjoyable read, this is for you!
Ok that was such a great story, and the smut was so hot! I loved how everyone was working through something and got what they needed through some delicious scenes. You get everything you need out of these books from heartfelt moments pain, sad and sadness, to love and acceptance. Plus the spankings and fu*k machine!!! I absolutely recommend this book!!
Diana's life gets turned upside down on her 45th birthday but in drowning her sorrows she meets Azreal and lets say a sizzling hot connection is the least of her worries! their chemistry is instant but is everything truly as it seems? well written steamy BDSM, desires and more!
