CHASE THE DEVIL
Salamanca, Spain 1812. Wellington’s army is about to break out into Spain but Lord Wellington suspects a trap has been laid for him as the right flank of the French army is willfully weak. Wellington sends out Captain Robert Lockhart and a party of soldiers from the 5th of Foot the Northumberland Regiment to investigate behind the French lines and indeed discovers the trap.

Major Philippi Duval is in charge of springing the trap and his plan for a massacre of the British troops are foiled by Robert’s intervention and saves the day. Robert uncovers Duval’s camp and locates the bodies of countless prisoners who have been tortured and shot.
Vowing to right a wrong, Robert sets out to hunt and kill Duval, (nicknamed the devil by his men) a chase that will eventually take Robert back to the Niagara River in Canada and the first site of Duval’s atrocities.

About the author.

Hi. My name is John Madderson and I love writing fiction.
I was born in the small industrial seaside town of Blyth Northumberland in January 1947.
In 1964 I joined the Army and enlisted into the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers where in 1966 I met my wife Sylvia while on leave from Germany and en-route to Aden and active service.
On returning to England Sylvia and I were married and in 1968 we were blessed with our son Lee Raymond.
In 1977 I left the army and went into self-employment for a great number of years. Now living in Newcastle upon Tyne I spend my time writing, a task I take great pleasure in.
I like to write horror; I also like to write historic events adding fictional characters in situations of love, war and revenge.
I have recently finished a series of vampire books under my own name and now I am about to put the final chapters to my latest book about the Napoleonic War called “Revenge of the 5th.”

I hope you Enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them.
