Pale Snake is a pretty cool stand, not going to lie. I love the spotlight on Ermes in this volume, and the characterization of all the inmates in general is both gritty and funny. You really can't trust anyone in this prison and you definitely shouldn't expect any generosity out of the goodness of their hearts. Reading an action-heavy manga is difficult, there's just so much movement to portray. And doing action scenes PLUS paranormal/supernatural/horror themed "bizarre" occurrences is even more challenging to convey. F.F.'s introduction was tough to read at times for this exact reason -- a stand made up of intelligent plankton who can manipulate their body in unnatural forms is just one prime example. Regardless of this, the art is still legible, but it is difficult to follow between panels from time to time. Makes me reaaallly want to watch the anime (and hear some voice acting, too!)

- this almost all-female cast is refreshing for Jojo.
- I really want to understand the practical use of "freway thru hell"!
- Do I really understand how that disc stand works? not really, but it's certainly new.
- of course, a debt collector in prison.

In my opinion, some of the BEST stand battles in the series are in this volume! Highway to Hell, Marilyn Manson, and then Foo Fighters! It is just SO good!

I was really excited to see Jotaro's entrance into the story and his relationship with Jolyne. I was really surprised to see the iconic "I've always cherished you" panel so early in the story and I was brought to tears when Whitesnake attacked Jotaro and he "died" (?). I'm excited to keep reading, and the fights and story are really good and entertaining so far. Also waiting for Anasui... where is he...
