With Kaido defeated and Wano saved, it’s time for Luffy and his Straw Hat crew to depart for their next adventure. But big changes are happening all around the world, including the promotion of some new Emperors of the Sea!
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Not gonna lie, I wasn't a fan of how the Egghead arc started, especially after the disappointing final chapters of Wano (bounty and Emperor reveal was hype though). But with everything that happened up to chapter 1093 so far, - lore drop, major reveals about the world and characters and big characters (finally) making their move - Egghead easily exceeded my expectations and catapulted itself into my top 10 OP arcs!
saying my daily mantra “not all one piece volumes can be five star reads or no one piece volumes would be five star reads” every time oda gives me nothing
Wano was insanity, Egghead starts a bit lackluster for me, but I'll wait until the grand plan for that arc reveals itself.
Arc Ranking so far:
1. Wano Country 2. Marineford 3. Sabaody Archipelago 4. Enies Lobby 5. Zou 6. Dressrosa 7. Whole Cake Island 8. Long Ring Long Land 9. Water 7 10. Alabasta 11. Post-Enies Lobby 12. Impel Down 13. Amazon Lily 14. Reverse Mountain 15. Arlong Park 16. Skypiea 17. Baratie 18. Reverie 19. Punk Hazard 20. Drum Kingdom 21. Little Garden 22. Logue Town 23. Post-War 24. Thriller Bark 25. Jaya 26. Return to Sabaody 27. Orange Town 28. Fish-Man Island 29. Syrup Village 30. Romance Dawn 31. Whiskey Peak
EGGHEAD ARC - PART 1 1. it's insane - buggy has managed to become one of the top dogs through mere coincidence by getting into situations and being connected to some key names like shanks, gol d. roger etc. he's not there by merit, and that's fucking FUNNY because this motherfucker is just as lost as we would be
7. hooooly fuck, a lot happened: sabo didn't kill cobra, so somebody is using the revolutionary army as a scapegoat; the government/elders genocide entire kingdoms/countries at the drop of a hat and erase their entire existence from history. i STILL wanna know who imu is!!!
8. egghead is dr. vegapunk's labground!!!! oh my god, we're in a dystopian future, which apparently isn't the future at all but the island from the past during the void century?? THIS is how it used to be? (also all vegapunks seem to be connected parasympathetically: hunger, sleepiness, micturition and defecation - if one does it, the other immediately feels its effect)
9. omg kuma is bonney's dad.
10. LAW VS BLACKBEARD???? genderbend law??? WHAT IS HAPPENING AND HOW IS IT GOING????
11. it's breaking my head that sanji is SMOKING INSIDE A LABORATORY
Serius deh, apa sih mimpinya? Bikin aku penasaran huhu. Adek ayo jelasin karena aku penasaran, huaaa.
Terus awal mula pertarungan (pacar aku) Trafalgar Law dengan (si jelek) Kurohige, masih awal jadi belum di panel terakhir ia terlihat setelah 500+ hari tanpa kabar. Dendam banget please sama si jelek Kurohige! ;(
We've been in Wano for so long that this feels so weird to be in transition to Egghead Island.
I just want to say...Zoro's outfit for this arc is fantastic, definitely the best one.
The lore and further worldbuilding is top notch, as always. You can definitely feel that we're moving into the final saga. And, like always, somehow Oda never fails to make sure the stakes feel higher for our favourite pirates.
It's beautiful, and I hate to wait for these to be released lol
Also, I have to say, the throwback to volume 25's cover is so good. It's so appropriate and fitting for the way things are progressing.
And so...once again...I dread the waiting of new chapters but embrace the anticipation of the incredible lore dropping we've been getting in the following chapters.
This volume transitions us from the feudal-Japan-with-minor-sci-fi-elements Wano arc to the ALL-sci-fi arc of Egghead Island.
There is SO much happening here that it is difficult to summarize. But we get some interesting news about and crossover between the storylines of many characters who aren’t on the main crew. For instance, we get to see how the revocation of the “warlord of the sea” title and associated loss of amnesty affect characters like Mihawk, Crocodile, and Boa Hancock, as well as the marines sent to fight them (including Koby – powered up but still adorable), and Blackbeard (who is in full Littlefinger “chaos is a ladder” mode!).
And we get majorly teased to want to know more about what the heck went down at the meeting of the world leaders! finally manages to call his comrades Iva and Dragon to tell them, but . The Straw Hats finally find out that and that Princess Vivi is missing. Nami, Sanji, Chopper, and Luffy immediately want to go rescue her, but Zoro points out that they don’t know where she is, and besides: “Remember, Luffy! What did you say when this happened to ACE?! Until he was in undeniable danger, you let Ace live his own life! You don’t think Vivi can figure it out for herself? She’s a strong woman. When it comes time to act, we’ll fight whoever we have to. But when there’s nothing to be done, just put up with it.”
Another teaser: Luffy apparently has something he wants to do BESIDES being King of the Pirates, which his friends think is funny, cool, but probably impossible…but WHAT IS IT?! Goddamn it, Oda! Likewise, Shanks continues being mysterious. I really wonder what his role is going to be in the end. His status as Emperor of the Sea (like Luffy and Buggy, now) suggests he could be a final boss, but he keeps helping Luffy out while avoiding actually meeting him. So IDK.
I’m excited to meet up with Bonney as we head into Egghead. She’s been an intriguing side character for some time what with her aging/de-aging powers, her appetite that rivals Luffy’s, and her deep grudge over what was done to Kuma – plus I happen to know she’s very important going forward, too! We also get our first look at the Einstein-&-Oppenheimer-inspired character of Vegapunk and learn that, in a move very reminiscent of ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’
The island itself is full of inventions, including what looks like a food fabricator out of Star Trek and a clothing machine. Most of the Straw Hats got cool futuristic suits from this…but Jimbei and Sanji ended up in Hawaiian shirts! “Sanji (annoyed, but…):It’s all OK, because Nami and Robin look so good! Franky: What about me? Sanji: You look like a perv in any outfit. Franky (who doesn’t wear pants normally, so a skin-tight sci-fi suit is honestly a step up): Stop it, yer makin’ me blush!”
Also, since we has a “queerness in One Piece” segment last time, how about a little “the straights being OK” from the end of Wano? “Kin’emon, on seeing his wife (who due to time-jump shenanigans is 20 years older than him and now has a fresh burn on her face): I have to say, after 20 years, she’s still just as beautiful! Duke Dogstar: Hey! Dogs like cheese, but not that much! Okiku: Hee hee! That’s so sweet, Master Kin!”["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I’ve made my thoughts clear on Wano. It has its moments but it was way too long and more complicated than it needed to be. Nonetheless the initial chapters of this volume were sweet enough as the Straw Hats say goodbye to their Wano companions. And regardless, I do always enjoy these transitory volumes from one Arc/Saga to the next one. As for Egghead I’ve repeatedly said I like how One Piece can jump genres/aesthetic styles from island to island/arc-to-arc as we’re now in a futuristic land and that appreciation remains. The storylines already seem interesting with a number of cool parts (Vegapunk splitting his mind into multiple bodies, the reveal there was an ancient civilization even more advanced than Egghead, etc.). Meanwhile there are also a number of rapidly progressing storylines off the Island that caught my eye with Blackbeard v Traffy, Cross Guild, Sabo discovering the secrets of the World Government, etc. although I’m worried Oda Sensei will keep having their developments/resolutions happen off screen like he did with the events of the Reverie. Nonetheless I felt fine with the current volume and the start of this arc.
Other thoughts on this volume: - Interesting to see the new alliance of Buggy, Hawkeye, and Crocodile. And then it became HILARIOUS when Buggy’s popularity with his crew screwed things up with him and his partners and that the Navy believes the hype too - Hilarious seeing Luffy, Traffy and Kid part ways (not as funny as seeing that Emperor or Not Luffy still gets his ass kicked by Nami regularly) - Been so long since we saw Boa Hancock that I’ve forgotten her backstory and other characters’ involved in it as well. This is a problem with Oda Sensei’s lore and worldbuilding, there’s way too much of it and dozens of volumes will go by before different parts will be revisited. - I’m hoping for an epic rescue mission storyline of Luffy finding out about both Vivi and Koby and leading the charge going after them. - Appreciate that we’ll finally get more information on Kuma and Bonny in this arc, I’m sure it’ll be a tearjerker.

For a series I’ve been slowly reading for half a decade, it feels very weird to be caught up and waiting for the next weekly release. Can’t even imagine how it feels if you’ve been reading since 1997! 1081 chapters and counting….

Both of the Pacifistas have dark brown skin, black wings and flame on their back. Blackbeard (3,996,000,000 Berry) and his crews also went to Amazon Lily to acquire Hancock's devil fruit. Silvers Rayleigh arrived to help Hancock. Blackbeard Pirates and Marines went out from Amazon Lily but Captain Koby was abducted by Blackbeard Pirates.
Sabo hides in Lulusia Kingdom. He called the Revolutionary Army to tell about the truth. He saw something terrible at Mariejois where he saw someone sit on the world throne. Marines managed to tap their calls. Gorosei instructed an attack to Lulusia Kingdom. In a blink of an eye, Lulusia Kingdom perished from the world.
Straw Hat Pirates enter new climate zone. They saw an eddy currents and Jewelry Bonney is in there. Bonney's ship was swallowed by the giant metal shark. Luffy and Chopper fall from the ship and Jinbe go save all of them including Bonney. They arrived at Egghead Island, island that 500 years in the future. Dr. Vegapunk's research lab is located in this island. Thousand Sunny was sinked in the sea but a giant mecha robot save the ship. CP0 consists of Rob Lucci, Kaku and Stussy were assigned to kill Dr. Vegapunk. Luffy's group encounter Pacifista Kuma. Kuma is Bonney's father. The other Straw Hat Pirates arrived at Egghead and they follow Lilith to the Labstratum. Zoro and Brook just stay at the ship. Straw Hat Pirates were attack by another pacifista known as S-Shark that resembled Jinbe. Vegapunk Edison and Vegapunk Lilith are testing S-Shark on Straw Hat Pirates. Vegapunk Shaka said that Egghead is the island of the past as there are more advanced civilization 900 years ago. At the same time, Luffy's group found an old giant robot.
In the certain sea in the New World, the Blackbeard Pirates hunt down Heart Pirates. Doc Q, Van Augur, Jesus Burgess, Stronger and Teach are about to clash with Law.
This arc was pure madness. Almost all of the preceding arcs of the New World were leading up to Wano. It was the biggest arc so far. It had the strongest enemies so far. It was the conclusion of the biggest saga so far. The expectations were very high for this long awaited arc. And in my opinion Oda did not disappoint. The three act structure was great. The whole vibe Oda managed to create in Wano was on point. Odens backstory was badass. All the battles in act 3 were great. Especially Zoro v King, Sanji v Queen, Law and Kid v Big Mom and of course Luffy v Kaido. The powerups?? Gear 5?? I love Gear 5! It’s perfect for Luffy. Best transformation ever. (the anime also nailed it) It’s crazy how Oda managed to keep an overview of everything happening in this huge battle. All the story’s of Wano and its citizens were heartbreaking and they all had a perfect conclusion. Loved the epilogue. Oda just randomly introduced a new admiral? Okay!? I enjoyed Wano more in the manga. Maybe because of the pacing. I literally spent 3 years watching Wano week to week. Still prefer the anime overall, because of the colors, the animation, the voice acting and the music. But both versions are perfect in their own right. Can’t wait to see the final war. I’m confident Oda can nail it. Now onto a contrasting island. Onto the Future Island Egghead!!
I absofuckinglutely cannot handle all these emotions. The ending of Wano arc and saying goodbye was, as expected from Oda-sensei, both heart-breaking and ridiculous and I'm sad that Yamato decided to stay, but next tiiiiime ♥ Our precious idiot is an yonkou now, I- I'm not crying, you are ;_____ ; A blessing in the form of a whole-ass chapter dedicated to Heart pirates, if anyone lays finger on Tora-o, I will personally murder them. Shachi and Penguin underwater is the swimming anime I didn't know I needed in my life ♥ So many familiar characters make appearance and things are moving in a giant wave of secret plottings, alliances and government propaganda, I can't wait to see what's coming next.
