Scout Randall’s life has taken more turns than she was ready for, and it’s a new dawn in Hawthorne Hollow. Her parents have arrived on the scene, and it turns out, they’ve been hiding in the shadows for years waiting for her. The prophecy that foretold her winning what should be an unwinnable war, has enemies crawling out of the woodwork. And, worst of all, she’s grappling with the realization that one of her own has betrayed her. It’s too much for Scout to deal with, which means that the snowmen popping up around town and acting like sentries are barely a blip. When Bigfoot joins the fray, however, Scout realizes trouble is afoot. All Scout wants is a few weeks to catch her breath. That’s not in the cards. Her life is starting to spiral, and now that she knows who the enemy is, the only thing she’s certain of is that she doesn’t have the strength to fight him. Hawthorne Hollow is a magical nexus, and all the players are lining up. The ultimate fight isn’t far away, so when new faces appear, it’s easy to question if they’re friend or foe. Who will come out victorious?
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Was a bit disappointed this time.out. Don't get me wrong this is a fun book but it just fell flat for me. All the relationship stuff between the characters is as good as ever, it's an on going story which is progressing to a hugely anticipated climax. But here....................there's strange creatures appearing all over town. Sentient snowmen, Bigfoot and more Scout is able to.deal.with them without much of an issue (although they do keep returning) but ............they don't do anything, apart from give people a fright. Now it turns.out they're a test for Scout, this is where I lost the plot what s the point of a test where there is no danger or risk and they are treated more as aspects of fun than an enemy to be fought. A big miss in the plot for me whatever the author intended it missed the.mark with me a shame as I said the book is fun and.fans.will therefore will still enjoy this book..................

Emma was a sister in the first book where she was introduced and continued to be until books 8 and 9 in this series. She even addressed Andrea as Auntie when Scout's parents were taken to the cabin to keep them safe. Now in this book, Emma is a sister again. UGH! Please be consistent. I like this series, but I can't deal with all the confusion details, the author seems to have forgotten.
At one point in, a prologue, Graham discusses with the doctor that Gunner's mother tied him to the bed, stabbed him and set the house on fire. Then the stabbing was never brought up again. The worst she ever did to him was try to burn him alive to purify him. The stabbing seems to never have happened. Graham, Gunner and Gunner's mother only discuss her trying to burn him. The worst thing to me would be stabbing him in the chest, just missing his heart. But this author has forgotten this, it seems.
Gas station chicken, Del Taco, snowmen, gnomes and a little side romance. Who could ask for more?!??!! Scout has really evolved. I'm enjoying her story more and more.
This book was really good. First it was a hilarious book and I loved all of the movie creatures. I am a child of that time so that was right up my alley. The selfie portion of todays games is probably my favorite of the entire book. In the beginning I was really annoyed by some of the characters. Take Scout for example, she had been through a lot but her reticence, denial and petulance hit an all time high in this book, but as the book went a long the author did a great job of working Scout through the process and smoothing some of those edges restoring the natural empathy we have for her. As for Raisin, I maintain she is still way over the top and causes problems at the worst time, but, like Scout, the author redeemed her with how poorly Tristan treated her. I like Graham and Marnie, that seems right. I think everyone but Scout knew what was about to happen, but that is very much on par with her character. She grew a lot in this book, emotionally, even if she doesn't fully realize that yet. I was a little Surprised with the Apex Lamia twist, but I think its the right move, Bonnie is going to be a good bad guy I think. It was also nice to see Scout's family reunited, they too have struggled and while Scout has every right to feel how she feels, she tends to not see the hardship they have suffered so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. I feel like Emma still has a major part to play, and that front has been quiet. She wasn't really even mentioned in the reunion. Apparently, this is just one of many prophecies for Scout, so I hope the author explores those too. I like this series, on the next one.
This is one wild and crazzzzzy supernatural combo filled with hijinks, explosions, reunions, explosions, magic, madness, more explosions, some magical, some emotional, some physical, and true mayhem - or a normal weekend in some parts of the world.
Scout and Gunner are ready for the showdown with her parents (who hid her in foster care for years to save her life while they were chased by evil supernaturals who wanted to kill them and Scout so they were forced to abandon her to protect her), his dad Graham, their boss and friend Rooster, and assorted family members as well as the magical community and the upcoming showdown of the century - it is a battle royale, good vs evil, and it is not certain Scout’s underdog side will win, though hard to believe they can lose.
But it’s anything goes and nothing is certain until the end and it is spectacular! What a great read full of excitement - adrenaline junkies will LOVE this series and this novel particularly! A great story and an absolutely worthwhile read
This book has been, in my opinion, the best so far! The sheer amount of spunk and snark coming from not only Scout but literally all directions was well beyond fun. It was sweet the way Raisin and Roosters relationship evolved also. I'm really loving how the series are all starting to mesh characters. The more Tillie the better. The things that come out of that womans mouth are inspiring. And when you combine her with Scout, its like a snark-fest bomb! And its about time Graham got some well deserved attention. Its impressive how smoothly all the series are being combined. Its a bummer having to wait in between books. Thank you for making me laugh when its needed the most!
entertaining paranormal urban fantasy/cozy mystery series
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series that leans a bit towards urban fantasy as well. A spectacular cast of characters in an entertaining storyline. Scott Randall is a pixie witch. Half which half pixie. She tasty strength of bows and combines them and is more powerful than any other witch or pixie. She’s gearing up for a battle with all her friends in the spells angels. Along with dealing with her parents and all that goes with that she must figure out what’s going on and with her friends save the day. She is part of a prophecy and is overwhelmed by that as well. Read on and see the adventures that scout and the other spells angels get into this time.
I absolutely adore the world building and characters in Amanda M. !we and Lily Harper hart books. I even love the storylines and the way she blends her characters across her series. That said, I really wish she would fact check her own characters. It's very disconcerting to have a character do something in one book, then in another the same.character can't do the same thing. This also applies to back stories. For example in an early book, a character moves home after getting laid off, but later her return is described as missing her home. It seems those sorts of errors should be caught and corrected as part of the proofreading. I continue buying her books, but they would be so much better without the confusion.
Scout's selfie collection gains a bigfoot, and Jason Vorhees 'light' as she deals with an explosion of horror movie sightings for Graham... but she's struggling to understand what is behind it all; it's clearly not the apex lamia or Bonnie, but if its the apex pixie Scout's at a loss as to why she'd be working against them...
A reconnect with Poet might provide some answers, but she'll also need to deal with the family issues she's ignoring, like a petulant pixie teenager... and it might turn out that Yolanda unwittingly gave them the key all along... if only Scout could work it out...
Seriously, when did the people in this book decide to reverse to petty pouting and childish behavior. In previous books Scout is a strong character with a lot of drama, but in this book she comes off petulant at times. Her true personality does come through when dealing with Raisin but the glaring and pouting is stupid. It’s not just Scout either, Gunner gets all bent out of shape because his dad shows affection towards a woman, even though he hasn’t had anyone in his life for years. I love this series, but this book was not my favorite.
Another great book in this series! The characters are believable and have their own unique personalities. I read many types of genres from quite a few Authors and I enjoy the series from this Author better than most. I like the "fade out" on the actual physical aspects of the sex scenes, as I sometimes get bored with too many details(usually repetitive). Not too much suspense without a comedy break and a real escape from the mundane. I can't wait for the next in this Authors many series, but especially the parts in this one that leaves us thinking of what is to come for Scout.
Lots of angst from Scout about her parents and Bonnie’s betrayal. Disjointed and disappointing confrontations with antagonists, especially the final confrontation. This book left me feeling cheated of some solid magical action with a definitive outcome. After all the petulant agonising over becoming the Pixie Apex, the actual event was underwhelming. I felt like several loose ends had been thrown together just to get the next book in series published! Not the standard I want or expect from Amanda M Lee.
Come on! I understand apprehension and concern when a character has issues coming at them however the continued whining like a child for an entire book is too much. Is it just to make the book longer? It like Amanda builds these intricate characters and then turns them into whining brats. Get over it.
I can’t imagine if this war that building is going to converge with all these characters and all of a sudden they sit in a room, suck their thumbs and cry. Woman and man up!
Scout's parents are trying to get to know her and bigfoot has shown up
What I enjoyed: * I really liked Agnes * We see Bonnie again, who shows her true personality
What could have been better: * It doesn't seem like much happened. Majority of the book was Scout avoiding and everyone telling her she needs to suck it up. * Why are the Winchesters such a big part of this series now? They have their own series that I would read if I had any interest in them.
Who knew what was in store for Scout and the gang. Her parents forcing themselves on her life. Releasing family from another plane. Fighting Bonnie and her Lemia father. Nope she has to battle big foot, Jason Vorhees, and biting snowmen. Oh and she met the apex pixie. All in a days work. Oh and don't forget Raisin making Rosters life hell. Can't wait to see what she gets into when she started to read the Wix book.💚💙
I started with the first book. I enjoyed it so much I just kept going. Each book in this series sets you up for the next one. I'm hoping that the series is done as I'm not sure I could wait for the next one. This storyline will keep you want the next in line. Great writing, well developed characters and amazing thought out storytelling. I know she has several other series and can't wait to read them when I'm done with this one.
Storm has to work through some difficult feelings and become the apex pixie. Ms. Lee's books all have a touch of magic, mayhem, mystery and romance. She is a masterful story teller and I have enjoyed every one of her books. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the next book in the series.
This series and all the characters are sarcastic and it is a fun read. The ending with Scout was unexpected but I can't wait until the next book to fully understand what it all means. Having TBE Winchester witches interacting with the characters of this series is brilliant. I recommend this series as it is hysterical and unexpected.
So I must say, in the beginning Scout was a little pissy, ok a lot pissy; wasn't sure the direction it was going to go. But, as it went on I couldn't turn the pages fast enough never knowing what was going to rear it's ugly head. It seemed the series will continue, and I really really hope it's soon. Great book, great series, loved it.
I am not sure how She does it will all the different Books she writes but she never disappoints and the each book is like catching up with a friend. I do not want to spoil the book for anyone but will say Scout is coming into the Apex of her powers getting ready for the big bad thing. I am awaiting more adventures.
This book reveals a lot of answers and shares some good previously held secrets. The series is getting close to a big showdown which usually means the end of a series, but I’m hopeful this will continue because there was a lot of talk about more prophesies. Fingers crossed.
Lots going on in this book. Feel bad Scout is going through so much and everyone is pushing her. Lots of revelations in this book. Big things going on for a few characters. I love Aunt Tillie's revenge scenarios. I don't want to give spoilers, but author summery covers basics. Told from Scout's POV. DEFINITELY a great addition to series.
I love this book and I love Ms. Lee's excellent sense of humor!! I have never laughed so much. Her stories flow easily and keep you entertained. I never felt like there was a lull in the story or a lot of unnecessary filler. She is a very gifted and creative author. You won't be sorry to buy this book.
Tho plot thickens for Scout, but like always I will never give anything away you got to read it yourself to find out what is happening in Hawthorne Hollow. The twists and turns, the snark, the loyalty, and the friendships just keep going and going. What a great series, thank you Amanda M. Lee you've done it again. Can't wait to see what happens next.
When 3 different people tell you it's time to grow up or suck it up, you might want to listen. Instead, there was a lot of petulant whining and childish behavior, from more than one of the characters. How does that type of behavior translate to strong, funny, and/or snarky? For me, it doesn't. This one wasn't one of my favorites in the series.
I like Amanda's books, she is one of my favorite writers. However this series has a lot of angst in it. At first this was fine. Part of plot of the series. We are getting along in the series now. I feel like I am in therapy when I read this. Some of Gunner and Scout conversations and interplay goes on and on and on. I start skipping pages. I know Amanda Lee wrote once that this series in not for everyone. I like this series. I read books for enjoyment and escape of the mundane. I just wish there could be more to this book. I do not want to feel like I am in therapy. I would have given it 4 or5 stars like I did in the first books. I want more to the story than exploring mental processes.
Scout is still shaken over Bonnie's betrayal and Spells Angels haven't been able to locate her or her father. The whole town is being overrun with movie monsters and it appears an apex pixie is keeping an eye on Scout and Evan. Her parents are a definite complication and Scout is feeling overwhelmed.
War battle still leading up to a bigger battle that will probably be fought in the last book of this particular series. Also, bay and chili, and the whole gang from Hemlock Cove have been in the last book in this book pretty frequently. I expect to see more Winchesters in the future.
Well, I'm not sure I like how this book went. I mean, it was a badass book, but it didn't end with the battle I was expecting. I'm almost certain that the author, Amanda M. Lee, had it planned out this way. I believe Amanda is a Cunning and Willey enough of an artist to pull this off. So far, a Great series! I still Highly Recommend these books!
