The book Bricks Matter by Lora M. Cecere is so up to date today even so it's written 10 years ago. The author incredibly foretold some things that recently happened and discussed about supply chain problems that would escalate until 2020. She wrote the book to prepare new generation of supply chain managers for the challenges in 2020. However, she never dreamed how similar but multiplied this challenges will be.
The author wanted to introduce the concept of Market-driven value network.
In her own words she concludes:
"With the introduction of these new manufacturing techniques, colocation will become the norm. Supply chains will shorten, become
more intricate, and new forms of networks and relationships will emerge. Market-driven value network will become a business differentiator for leaders and an Achilles ’ heel for laggards."
