Anwyn knows the dangers of staying in one place for too long. Ever since the death of her parents at a young age, she has lived a life on the run. She takes what she can and leaves as soon as people begin to question who she is. Unfortunately, her luck has run out, and now she finds herself engaged to a horrible man. With nowhere else to go, Anwyn travels through the one place no one from the village will dare The Woods. Washed into a cave during the storm, Anwyn comes face-to-face with a dragon. What seems like the worst day of her life turns out to be quite fortuitous as she discovers his lair is filled to the brim with gold and jewels. Enough to buy the life she’s always wanted. It soon becomes apparent that the dragon who captured her wants her for more than just a quick meal. The longer she spends in his company, the more she begins to question if a life of solitude is what she wants. Especially as this dragon continues to bring her every comfort and pleasure she could imagine.

After all these years of running, could the life of a dragon’s most precious treasure be the one she’s always dreamed of?

"Is there anything more beautiful than sparkling gold?"

The moral of this story was that if the h didn't have blond hair, it would've been over for her 💀.

Also, the H was really giving the lizard from Spiderman as opposed to a dragon, so I'm taking points off 🧍‍♀️. Anyways this one was alright. 🤷‍♀️

“For showing me what it’s like to be a man again, for making me remember how wonderful life can be”.

Ahora mismo con esta novela me encuentro ante una encrucijada. Me explico:

Simplemente no pudo conmigo y me pareció innecesaria. Aunque para gustos colores.

En conclusión, la autora mejora, pero no me parece la mejor, me quedo con la primera entrega y el demonio.

“For those of us that dream of being a different kind is dragon rider…”

Charlotte has done it again! This is one of my favorite series on the planet!! Happy to be apart of her Patreon so I could read this early! The art she has on there makes me want my own dragon lord/monster.

If you enjoyed AKFAD or AKFAK, you will CERTAINLY enjoy this read. Who doesn’t want a sexy dragon??

Novella 3 of the Tetralogy
Extra points for fancy ways to use the tail, minus points for me being unable to picture what MMC looks like. Dragon man with pants (boo), who walks on two or...four legs? Unsure. Regardless, he was smoldering (and slightly fire-breathing). Would have loved some scenes in the sky~! My least favorite of the four novellas, but I still enjoyed it tons. Charlotte can do no wrong in my eyes. Novellas go by super quickly, but she writes SO well, it's an enjoyable sprint to the finish line with any of her novellas.

“what is a little Stockholm syndrome without an insanely horny dragon” - Kiira

When I say I want more fantasy books with dragons, this is not what I mean.
I don’t know what possessed me to read this, but I thought I’d be funny.

It was not.

I deeply regret reading this and I would like to apologize to Kiira for asking her to read this with me.

** ARC requested via applying for it at Author's Newsletter

* Hero(s) - 3/5
Lassar is a lord turned into a monster/dragon because of his greed by a Demon in The Woods. He was immediately captivated by his prey/treasure mainly because of her golden hair. I liked that he had a sense for consent. My trouble was imagine how he looked like in my head. One chapter he was full dragon shaped, in others more humanoid. I would have liked more of his backstory and some more bonding. But this book works with 10 chapters, so probably that limited to get deeper inside his head.

* Heroine(s) - 4/5
Anwyn is amazing from the start. She forced to look after herself from a very young age therefor she is very independent and knows what she wants. I liked to be inside her head. She has no issues to say what she wants or playing any games.

* Secondary Characters - 4/5
They are there to move along the plot nicely. Thankfully there are no timewasting interactions.
SPOILER (Turning up at the cave felt a bit off and unnecessary, but I did not mind. I am not sure it is for closure for Anwyn or just another part to fulfill one of her kink)

* Plot/Storyline - 4/5
It is what it is. It starts out smoothly, and we all know where it is going.

* Romance/Steam - 4/5
I think Lassar and Anwyn balance eachother well. No manipulating games. A bit of instalove, but I am okay with that. This story is less than 100 pages, so not much room to slowly build up things. Smut was hot. Good for you Anwyn!

* Drama/Conflict/Angst - 4/5
I am so happy there was no dramatic plot twist. Just a nice easy read.

* Worldbuilding/Atmosphere - 5/5
I love this series. If you have read the previous books of this series you have more of a picture what is going on. Maybe a Map could have been included in the following books but not really necessary considering it is going to be about the Fairie King/Lord and Unseelie court.

* Writing Style - 4/5
The first book I have read from this Author was Taken by the Dark Elf King, so my expactations were very high. This series is lighter, as the books are shorter but I like the characters, plot and dialogs too. Not too much drama and angst, or the abusing - dark romance trash, that is so popular nowadays.

If you like a nice monsterlove story with loveable characters and some smut without any kind of unecessary drama, then this is for you. I only wish it was longer. What can I say, I just like my dragons

I would like to begin by thanking the author for providing me with an e-ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review of the story.

Charlotte never fails to provide readers with a fun , spicy, and simultaneously sweet monster novella. I keep coming back and I have no regrets.

I really like Anwyn's backstory. Unlike the other FMCs in the book, she has had to survive on her own since a very young age. She was had to live in grey area's to make sure that she was safe and had enough to live a decent life. When she suddenly finds herself in a pickle for staying in a town for too long, she must go on the run one last time. Unbeknownst to her, this life on the run leads her into the lair of a dragon.

Lassar was so lonely and unhappy by himself. His introductory chapter made me really sad because he made a mistake and paid the consequences severely. He lived for years with nothing but physical possessions and gold on his mind, until he lays eyes on Anwyn. His every interaction with her further endears her to him and he wants for nothing but to keep his new treasure.

Charlotte always delivers with the spice in these novellas. All of these stories have managed to scratch both the romance itch and provide the smut. Lassar and Anwyn certainly have stamina. Highly recommend this for my spicy romance readers. But they also have incredibly tender moments, Lassar cooks , does her after care, and literally goes the extra mile to provide her with anything she wants.

In summary, this was a short spicy monster novella that is perfect for reading in between larger and more serious books. I had a blast and cannot wait for the next one. I mean how could I not be excited for Faeries?!!!!!

A Kiss from a Dragon Lord is a scorching fantasy romance that throws you straight into a world of ancient power, fierce passion, and a dragon lord who knows exactly what he wants: Anwyn. From the moment their eyes meet, it’s clear this won’t be a gentle dance, but a wildfire that consumes everything in its path.

This book is:
📍 Anwyn, a woman caught between her destiny and a dragon’s claim
📍 A dragon lord who rules with fire and unshakable obsession
📍 A dangerous, intoxicating connection that’s both thrilling and terrifying
📍 A story filled with magic, power plays, and relentless heat

What makes this story unforgettable is the way Anwyn and the dragon lord clash and spark, their chemistry fierce enough to ignite kingdoms. She’s no passive princess—she fights, she challenges, she burns right alongside him. Their romance is messy, passionate, and unapologetically intense.

Bonus points for:
🔥 Epic world-building with dragons, magic, and political intrigue
🔥 A hero who’s as ruthless as he is vulnerable beneath his scales
🔥 Anwyn’s fiery spirit that matches his strength blow for blow
🔥 Scenes that blaze with desire and power

The pacing keeps you hooked, even if some moments lean heavily into the dramatic, but that’s part of the fun—it’s a fantasy romance that knows exactly how to deliver the heat.

Final verdict: Fierce, fiery, and impossible to forget. A Kiss from a Dragon Lord is a dragon romance that scorches the soul and leaves you craving more.

1.5 ⭐

It was going well. I mean, it was kinda meh. Nothing interesting. Very predictable plot with the usual monster dragon capturing a human female at first sight and then...Bam! They literally bang the rest of the way through.

I was still okay with Lassar and Anwyn's story. Seemed pretty average monster romance without any unnecessary third act conflict in a small novella such as this.

But I'd have to say...what the F was that last scene??!😨😨😨

When the villagers came to rescue Anwyn, why did she react like that? Just because I like monster romance that doesn't mean that your truly is a beast okay?! Like, author, please, maintain basic self-decency even when you're writing smut, yeah?

It'd have very easily been a 3 🌟 read for me if not for the last part. That scene just made me disgusted. I think the author meant for it to be some hot exhibitionist spicy scene, but it was straight-up disgusting shit and completely unnecessary! The villagers didn't sign for this and neither did I. For the love of God, I'd LOVE to gift them some bleach so that they can wash their eyes and I can wash my freaking memory!

Charlotte does an amazing job with these Kiss from a Monster novellas. This does pick up around 10 years after the previous novella. Anwyn was an interesting character to read her pov from due to her always moving from town to town under a new name since her parents died. Mr. Wicksome bribes her to be his wife to keep her secret about her past from everyone. She ventures into the woods to get away from his and meets Lassar, our lovely dragon. These two are so adorable and can’t wait to read about the next couple. I love how they always ties into the next novella by having the current MMC and sometimes the MFC either interacts with the next monster or in the setting of where it will take place.

I highly recommend reading this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

3.5 because I don’t know how to feel 😭 I really liked how the author made Lassar very sweet and kind and overall a very likeable character. Anwyn as well was an enjoyable character, she was a badass for surviving on her own and doing what she had to while still remaining kind and fair. But I couldn’t really get into it, I had a hard time imagining Lassar lol the pants really threw me off, it was hard to imagine a dragon wearing pants without looking silly for me, I laughed during moments that weren’t meant to be funny. It wasn’t exactly my cup of tea but it was such a quick read, only a few hours, so I don’t really regret it. Like I said, the characters were so cute and the story had potential, just don’t take it too seriously.
I much rather preferred the author’s other book “A Kiss From a Demon”, definitely check that one out :)

3.5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

this was my third experience of Charlotte now, I’ve read the previous 2 books in this series and found them enjoyable, short monster smut books. Of the 3 though I still like ‘a kiss from a kraken’ the most.

this is only the second time i’ve read a monster romance involving a dragon hero. 🐲
Lassar was possessive, attentive, devoted, dominating…he was pure smutty fifth. Anwyn also had a feisty side to her that I didn’t fully expect, towards the end she really came into her own and wanted to show it all.

Overall this was ok. I know not to expect any deep plot or lengthy chapters as it’s only a novella. It’s a quick and easy read and that’s good for when I need my monster romance fix 👌🏻✨😈

The novellas have really disappointed me. Charlotte’s other books “Taken by the Dark Elf King” and “Captured by the Orc General” were great and I could not get enough. The first three novellas have the same storyline but with different creatures.

Virgin unhappy girl finds the monster and is not sure if they like them until they have sex. Then they fall in love, but a group of people who originally made the girl unhappy interrupts them and then they get told to go away or get killed. Then they live together happily ever after and get pregnant.

Not sure if I will keep reading the rest of the novellas, but I am excited for the third book of her novel.

Plus this books had a few grammatical/ spelling errors …

This one is a little more tame than the other two. Less possession/controlling and more "i will cherish her like the treasure she is" type. A "gentleman in the streets but a freak in the sheets", if you will. This was a cute love story. There is a twist toward the end that I was surprised at, given how the book started; however, I should've seen it coming. This was more plot-driven than the other books, again 90% spice. We don't read these for the plot. Just fun to know there was one.

The book version has a ton of grammatical errors, which was hard to get through at times because it was very distracting. But still, a really good book.

This is a short steamy insta-love story and I loved it! I am such a sucker for love stories in which the MMC has an immediate need to protect and take care of the MFC, and this one is exactly such a story. I loved the immediate attraction between Anwyn and Lassar and his urge to protect her. Their loneliness was heartbreaking and their finding each other was spicy and wonderful. I look forward to to reading more books by the author in the future.

I received an ARC from the author and voluntarily write a review

I've read all of the monstrous mates series and I loved those! And this is my first one in this novella series and I have to say I was pleasantly suprised!

I really liked both characters but I love how sweet Lessar is to Anwyn. I actually wished it was longer so we could get a little more back stories on the two character but other then that it was a fun monster romance book to read. Thank you to the author Charlotte Swan for sending me an eARc of the book your the best! Can't wait for the next book in the monstrous mates series!

A nice continuation of this Kiss from a monster world. I like the growth in both of our main characters, but especially our dragon as he learns how to love something other than the clicky clack gold. I also love the consent shown in the book, and the patience that she's shown as she learned what she wanted.

Good quick read, enjoyable characters, wonderful world that they're all intertwined into.

I also love the little bit at the end that slides us into our next monster for the next book coming.

4.5/5 🌟

Wow, wow, wow! I've been reading everything Charlotte has ever written, and there's not one novella/book I haven't loved.

Lassar is perfection, he never once forced her to do anything and until the very end, he was willing to sacrifice his happiness to give her what she thought she wanted.
Anwyn finally had someone on her side, who only wanted her and truly cared about her.
Their relationship was fantastic, and the smut? Pure fire. It was so hot I couldn't believe what I was reading.

The reason I didn't give it 5 stars? Unfortunately (without spoilers), I didn't particularly enjoy the last scene with the town's folks. It's not for me, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of people who'll love it!

I want to thank Charlotte Swan for choosing me to read the ARC of this novella, it was truly an honor and I loved every second of it!
