The Genealogy of Jesus: God’s Loyalty from Generation to Generation

Rate this book
The New Testament includes two ancestry lists tracing Jesus’s family history. More than a list of names, these genealogies show God’s faithfulness to work through the broken, difficult, and beautiful aspects of human life from generation to generation. In this reading plan, we’ll read together the story of Jesus’s physical, human lineage. We’ll also discover a deeper connection beyond family bonds: the story of a God who is at work to bring people from all places to share in His spiritual family. Through the stories of real people and the pain and celebration they experienced, this five-week reading plan explores the lineage Jesus came from. With God's heart for His people and Jesus's family history in view, our reading plan points us toward the gospel reality that we are planted forever in the family of God.

He Reads Truth and She Reads Truth are worldwide communities who read God’s Word together every day. Founded in 2015 and 2012, He Reads Truth and She Reads Truth invite men and women to engage with Scripture through daily curated reading plans, online conversation led by a smart and thoughtful community of contributors, and resources created at the intersection of beauty, goodness and Truth. This community of “Men and Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God’s Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God’s Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.

Kids Read Truth, founded in 2016, produces resources designed to equip kids with biblical literacy and instill in them a love for God’s Word.

I loved chronologically focusing on people in Christ’s trilogy and how even through their brokenness, God’s promises were fulfilled in Christ. Through everything, to God be the glory.

*She Reads Truth--I tried to change the edition.

Okay, this is my crazy relationship with these studies. I am certain I won't do another one and then I do. As always, these products are lovely/beautiful and well done. The reason I fell for seduction of this particular study was I wanted to the simplicity of the genealogy in one book. For this reason this study is well worth it. The work putting the selected passages together is fantastic. Well done She Reads Truth!

I really learned a lot. In particular Day 26 Manasseh, Encourager of Evil and Day 30 Zerubbabel, Rebuilder of Ruins. I had massive exposure to truth with these two.

The Editor's Letter is fantastic. Rachel Myers says, "What I've learned is that to label any person in our stories as a hero or a villain is incomplete. No one is all good or all bad, as much as we'd sometimes prefer that distillation." (***I am not 100% sure about this--what about Lamech--but there is ALWAYS biblical tension!)

"Restoration is His Specialty"

For me this study was enriched because I had just finished the Bible Project study of the Firstborn Son. Wow, wow, wow. The themes in the Bible are incredible and I believe in this day and age so far removed from our train of thought. As a people we really need properly trained theologians to teach us these underlying themes. (For example I am doing the Bible Project theme of cities right now--another eye opener).

This study/book was so good. I recommend it. It was full of reminders of God’s faithfulness, love, mercy, and grace. He had a plan and He still does. There are consequences for disobedience and blessings for obedience. His plans will always be fulfilled. I am His. He alone is worthy of my praise!
