You know a book that leaves you feeling happy and with a smile on your face? Well, Girl with Guitar, the 1st book in Caisey Quinn’s Kylie Ryan’s Trilogy, is totally so one of those!

I am beyond obsessed with rock star stories and when I need another fix….I look for another book to keep me happy.
Although I am not exactly a country music aficionado….rock is more me…but there is one country song that I totally love…allright…I’ll tell you…Jolene by Dolly Parton!!! Country musicians…hum….do I luvvvv Keith Urban!!!
So, here we have a book about country music and singers…and wow….I so got into the whole story and characters that I might …just might…become a bit more into the world of country music!

MY RAMBLING REVIEW:

The storyline:

Kylie Lou Quinn’s big dream is to make it as a country music singer and after her father’s death, she leaves Pride, the small town she has lived in all her life and with her guitar and a few dollars, follows her dream to Nashville.

Working in a bar, she’s offered a place as a warm-up act for a famous, sexy musician but on a bit of a down-slide, Trace Corbin.
 photo stock-footage-a-man-in-a-cowboy-hat-playing-a-guitar-spotlighted-through-the-darkness-by-a-smoky-beam-of-light_zpsrmeceb9d.jpg
Life on tour has its ups and downs – Trace is not thrilled about her going with him on tour. And Kylie soon finds herself having to deal with his drinking, missing shows and his attitude towards her.

Trace will have to deal with his personal demons, if he wants his career to survive. Kylie begins to learn how ruthless the music industry really is.

As the tour progresses, they find themselves attracted to each other. photo download204_zpszxorajbl.jpg
But they will both have to work through the many misunderstandings that face them.

The characters:

Kylie: You can’t help falling in love with her. What makes her such an interesting character is that not only is she’s strong, independent, focused, fiery, not afraid to speak her mind, hardworking but she’s caring and kind and polite and has this kind of naiveté that makes her so endearing. She doesn’t allow Trace to push her around – she stands her “ground”.

Trace: Hell, this is one guy bent on self-destruction. Difficult, complex, complicated. Strikes back at the people who care for him…..believing he’s not worth being loved. I found the soft and kind side of him so appealing. His relationship with his sisters was very sweet.

Rea & Clare: Trace’s sisters!!! I fell in love with Rea. Her joie de vivre was engaging and charming.

The secondary characters are appealing and some very unforgettable.

The relationship:

The attraction and chemistry between Kylie and Trace is pretty obvious from the start…
 photo c9ff96ab0acbacf9f632ef82e4e9a0cb_zpswfkc4hsl.jpg
Kylie was exactly what Trace needed to get his life back on track. She doesn’t give up on him, even when he pushes her away time after time. She’s determined to help him get his shit together, whatever way and means it will take.
 photo download202_zpsu1hksd4m.jpg
The development of their relationship built up slowly with good and rocky times but I did feel that Trace really loved and cared for Kylie
 photo download201_zpscp3gbpwp.jpg
Theirs is not a one way relationship – they both give each other love and support and caring.

The settings

Life on tour…..on a bus….just seems so exciting…
 photo download_zpsye8jp9up.jpg

I loved going on the ride with these guys…..from small towns to large cities.. photo fe882ed0ab7ae985dc04a3b9495ddc9d_zpsi1oleyoz.jpg photo ffc55dd92df6083a0b2582c4f5191f81_zpsoj5ahnat.jpg

General:

Well-paced plot, great character development, fantastic and sparkly dialogue and loved the writing style, which made the slot flow really well.

Also have to mention that the lyrics of the songs in the story are really awesome. I am really impressed how good they were.

Not much of a cliffhanger at the end…was there a HEA? No, don’t think so…but guess you will just have to read this series to find out!!!

One of my favorite quotes

And hey, I can’t wait for Kylie & Trace’s next adventure – book #2 coming next….Girl on Tour….

What an adorably sweet and tender read!

Many thanks to this awesome author for being kind enough to gift her story. You sincerely ROCK...Kylie-style!

Kylie Ryans is an 18 year old spitfire who has been somewhat beaten down by life, but is far from defeated. Armed with raw talent and fierce determination, she sets off for Nashville to pursue her dream of becoming a country music singer. With a strong mind and a sassy tongue, it seems Kylie wont let anything or anyone stand in her way...until a run-in with country music star, Trace Corbin threatens to break down those solid walls that guard her....

Trace Corbin should come with a warning label: highly addictive...

Trace is a gorgeous and sexy, infamous bad-boy who's on a downward path of self-destruction. When Kylie is asked to join him on tour, he wants nothing to do with her--and the feeling is mutual. I absolutely LOVED their initial bicker-filled banter and Kylie's ability to put that bad-boy in his place was nothing short of awesome. Their tension-filled connection sizzled and the steam-factor was quite pleasantly surprising!

This story is told in third person perspective, but we really do get a lot of Kylie's inner dialogue--which was simply delightful. Her quirky character gave me many laugh-out-loud moments, and her just-trying-to-make-my-way-in-the-world persona was entirely believable. She was quick to become one of my favorite, kick-ass heroines!

The country aspect to this book is what I enjoyed the most. It gave the story quite an endearing and charming feel. I truly felt connected to these characters and the dialogue was so natural that I, at many times, felt a part of it. Trace and Kylie's story was intense without being over-the-top, and sweet without ever becoming sappy. Definitely an enjoyable read and I look forward to more from this author!

Even though I know it's wrong, you turned my life into a country song and I keep playin' it, on repeat.

Kylie Quinn is not looking for love. She is looking to make it big. After Kylie’s father dies, she has nothing to keep her home in Oklahoma. It’s almost her 19th birthday, so she takes a bus to Nashville in hopes of becoming a country singer/songwriter.

“Kid, you’re either crazy or desperate and you have to be both to make it here. I think you’re gonna do just fine.”
Both, Kylie thought to herself. I’m both.

Running out of money and not able to find a job, she is about ready to call it quits, but she is determined to find a way to stay. She eventually finds a job at a restaurant/bar and signs up for some open mic nights. Its her first night performing live, and she gets on stage and nails it. She takes one of Trace Corbin’s popular songs and turns it into her. That very night, Trace happens to be at the bar. He is impressed with Kylie and has her sing with him.

Trace Corbin should come with a warning label: highly addictive.

Trace’s people ask Kylie to join his tour as his opening act. This is her big break. But things don’t go quite as planned for Kylie. Trace is temperamental, irresponsible, and wants nothing to do with Kylie. After realizing whats really going on, Kylie doesn’t back down. She is not afraid of Trace. She speaks her mind, lets him know how it is. They go back and forth, round and round, but eventually they come to an understanding. Trace starts to clean up his act. Trace and Kylie have some major sexual tension. Trace is country’s bad boy, and Kylie knows she shouldn’t get mixed up with him, but she sees a side of him that is different. Trace knows he should stay away from Kylie, he really does try...
“I’m not that guy, Kylie.”

“What guy?”

“The guy you deserve.”

But they can only deny whats between them for so long.
 photo 6369d9ed-1fe1-4ed9-9715-ae072b7e90a7_zps3161b1e4.jpg

Kylie is falling fast and hard for Trace. Its scary. After all these years of having music be her love, it doesn’t seem quite as important as Trace.
“Before today, there was never anything I’d have even thought about doing for a second if it meant losing my shot... but if I could relive the past twenty-four hours over again every day for the rest of my life.. I’d give it up all together.”

The odds are stacked against them, but can this country boy and rising star make it work?

 photo f1e1fb13-ac10-4b9d-8e17-3d755e1bf85b_zpsec2f2f4e.jpg

A short, sweet read. I loved Kylie's tenacious spirit. She was strong, independent, and didn't let others get her down. Trace was something else. A country star/bad boy... gotta love him! There was some serious sexual tension between Kylie and Trace, but when they were together... HOT! I enjoyed the banter between them in the beginning. There was some drama, but nothing over the top. I enjoyed this one a lot. A great debut novel!
“Just don’t forget that you can say no because if you change who you are for them, then Kylie didn’t really make it, someone else did.”

LOVED THIS BOOK! Do not miss out on this, READ IT, you will not regret it! I was literally kicking myself for having this book sit in my Kindle for weeks before I got to it! Yes, it was that G O O D!!!

 photo 10fc292d-4ad5-40d9-b3c5-ed22f4cc3e6e_zpsb5bd9218.jpg

‘She should’ve just thanked the audience, hopped down off the stage, and resumed her regularly scheduled life. But she didn’t. Instead she made the colossal mistake of looking over into hazel eyes that had darkened to the color of the sky just before a deadly twister touched down, destroying everything in its path. She was from Oklahoma, and knew a thing or two about storm warnings. Trace Corbin was setting off all the sirens inside of her. Kylie was standing directly in the path of something wild and dangerous and a hell of a lot more powerful than she. Look away, her subconscious screamed at her. But she couldn’t, because for the first time since her daddy died, she was alive.’ ~Kylie

A few short months ago Kylie lost the one person who meant the world to her. Her father. After being put out by her step mother Darla aka the bit*h from Hades(my words not Kylie’s) and then loosing her job all in one day. Eight-teen year old Kylie decides to leave her hometown in Oklahoma to pursue musical dreams in Nashville. She finds work at The Rum Room with the help of a local waitress Tonya, a local woman who gives it to her straight at all times.

Kylie’s plan was to work and save so that she could buy some recording time to make a demo but EVERYTHING changes one night when she performs at the Rum Room unknowingly catching the ears and eyes of country star Trace Corbin and his crew. Kylie is asked to be the opening act on Trace’s tour and she agrees; only thing is her career may end before it has the chance to even begin.

The tour is already in full swing when she is asked to join. Kylie is aware that Trace has had other opening acts that did not work out well. It’s no secret Trace has been drinking his career a way and Kylie becomes witness to just how bad it can be.

Trace doesn’t just show up late to perform sometimes he was a no show.

“That him over there?” her new friend asked, pointing to a man across the room wearing a trucker hat, watching two girls go at it on a couch with a bored looked on his face. Trace sat alone, swirling dark liquid in a glass and looking for all the world like he owned this sin haven. Kylie needed a shower after just walking through it.

This girl is no slouch in fact she is determined to make it and she’ll be damned if a drunk like Trace Corbin is gonna ruin her dreams before they take off. She gives him a dose of reality... She is then thrust in to his world by trying to help him out of a rock and a hard place. But with the way Trace acts you start to wonder if he wants to be saved at all…

Music. Lust. Parties. Girls. Guitars. Sex. Kylie. Trace.

 photo 13333a5b-6e84-4eca-8da6-7316dcb5a140_zps0be2e01b.jpg

I love how the attraction between these two always simmered beneath the surface, you constantly felt it as a reader and it made for an intense build up of angst. It was never a matter of will they or won’t they it was always a countdown to when. When will things finally come to an ORGASMIC EXPLOSION! I really liked that! Slowly she starts to get to him but the man is stubborn as all hell. Meanwhile they are still on that slow simmer; he warns her to stay away because he knows no good would come of them being together. And for a while she listens.

‘Oh, God, she wanted him so bad it hurt. Wanted him, no needed him, to touch her like she could tell he wanted to.’ ~Kylie

Slowly Kylie starts to get to him but the man is stubborn as all hell. Meanwhile they are still on that slow simmer I mentioned. And then BAM there is this scene where they don’t talk but their bodies do and he lifts her on to the counter and his hands are moving and..and...well you get the point. Let’s just say after that fighting it becomes harder and giving in becomes bliss.

After meeting his family Kylie learns a few things that help her get to know the real Trace Corbin. It is then she starts to understand him on a deeper level as her eyes open to what she did not see on the surface.

 photo d965739c-892f-46c4-987b-ef7e2584d306_zpscd08ad43.jpg

‘She hadn’t known a kiss could feel like love but Trace made a job of it, licking and sucking and gently biting at her lips until he’d tasted every inch of her.’ ~Kylie

Somebody always wants to take what you have. A taste at bliss becomes just that when lies and a past foe tries to tear down what Kylie has been building for herself.

My Thoughts
I truly loved this book! I enjoyed Quinn's writing style and her characters. I felt the pace was good and the steam was done just right. I definitely look forward to more of her books!

I felt Kylie was made for Trace she did not take his bulllsh*t and she was real quick with the comeback retorts to his snap comments. Trace was battling demons and on a downward spiral to losing everything. Kylie's fight to make it as a country star had her battling out his demons. The question is will her fight be enough.. Only time will tell. The book ended with both characters in a good place with one another which is a good thing. I am eager to see how this relationship will do in book 2 Girl on Tour.

My Ratings
Characters- Love them
Writing Style- Good
Plot/Storyline- Sweet, with witty banter, angst and a good dose of steam

So so so so soooo good!

I absolutely loved this book. It was totally what I was in the mood for and it hit every spot.

Let me start by saying that Kylie is the best female lead I have read in aaaages! At just eighteen, she is still young and vulnerable but she has such a great attitude. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and make heads roll when necessary and it was so refreshing.

"You probably have about fifteen minutes until some guy with deeper dimples and tighter jeans, if that's possible, comes along and steals your thunder because really, you're not all that damned special."

All too often, our book heroines lack balls and hold back when they should be ranting their pretty little asses off and not just sitting back and taking shit. Kylie does just that! So, for that, Caisey Quinn, I applaud you. Girl power!

And then there is Trace. Arrogant, cocky, drunken country music star! Hot as hell but broken and on a path of self destruction.

She was from Oklahoma, and knew a thing or two about storm warnings. Trace Corbin was setting off all the sirens inside of her. Kylie was standing directly in the path of something wild and dangerous and a hell of a lot more powerful than she.

Yeh, you guys can put two and two together and come up with four pretty easily... you know the drill. Bad boy meets good girl and all mother of hell breaks loose. ;) The best kind of hell, though!

So, what really did it for me was the sexual tension. I LOVE a book with a heavy dose of sexual tension. The will-they-won't-they, the love-hate-love-hate, the for-christ-sake-kiss-her, the stolen touches, the innuendos.... *groan* I luuuurve it! Well written sexual tension, for me, is even more effective than well written sex. And don't let the cover of this book fool you, Girl with Guitar delivers on the spine tingling, toe curling, panty dropping sexual tension!

"Kylie, if I ever again see you in a place like The Player's Club, or alone in a bedroom with a musician who wants nothing more than to fuck you, then I can't be held responsible for what I might do."
"Does right now count as being alone in a bedroom with a musician who wants to fuck me?"
"Yes, it does. Which is why you should run back to your room as fast as those pretty little legs can carry you. And lock the goddamned door."

And then there is also a very yummy sex scene to boot. I know, we're spoilt, right?!

So, what more do you want me to say??? You've got a hot, tortured guitar player, a delicious side order of steam, a ballsy, spitfire of a female protagonist and lots of drama to spice it all up. Do I need to spell it out? I highly recommend Girl with Guitar

"Just don't forget that you can say no because if you change who you are for them, then Kylie didn't really make it, someone else did."

Kylie Quinn’s heading for Nashville with her guitar, a few dollars in her pocket and some big dreams of making her deceased father proud by pursing a singing career in the country music industry.

Kylie's world is never the same after she takes the stage at open mic night at the bar she is currently working at. It seems that none other than Trace Corbin, the hot young country singer is in attendance and the two share the stage…

Things happen quickly for Kylie she finds herself on tour with Trace who isn’t the nicest cowboy she’s ever met.

Although Trace is pretty swoon worthy this story doesn’t do instant love connections.

“I’m not that guy, Kylie.”

“What guy?”

“The guy you deserve.”

Kylie and Trace don’t get along but soon they find themselves very attracted to one other and letting each other in. I loved the pace of their relationship and the hot chemistry they share.

Kylie sees the Trace that the world isn’t privy to…

”Big strong man, singin’ lead in the band, that’s what everyone else sees. They think I’m bull and beers, you know I’m pain and fears. They want singin’ and drinkin’ you know I’m drownin’ and sinkin’

Kylie finds that the music industry and the press can be ruthless. Trace and Kylie suffer a falling out but have no fear readers even though there will be a sequel we are not left dangling on a cliff.

These two get their acts together and leave a reader excited for Girl on Tour due this coming August!

Overall, this was good read and well done debut novel by Caisey Quinn.

Trace Corbin was setting off all the sirens inside of her. Kylie was standing directly in the path of something wild and dangerous and a hell of a lot more powerful than her.

She didn’t know what he was looking for, but his eyes sought answers in hers that she didn’t have. She didn’t even know what the question was. She just wanted him. Like she had never wanted anything or anyone in her entire life.

After her father dies in a freak work accident, Kylie is left with nothing but her guitar and her dreams. Her step-mother kicking her out of her home is the last straw before she decides to pack up her things and follow her dreams to Nashville.

When an open mic night at the bar where she waitresses leads to an opportunity to tour with the country music superstar Trace Corbin, Kylie doesn't think twice. But Trace isn't the man that she thinks that he is. He's broken, has a drinking problem, a bit of an asshole, and less than happy to have her join him on tour.
“Seriously, this is the best you could come up with? A waitress from nowhere fucking Oklahoma? If I’d have known this was going to happen, I never would’ve pulled the little twit up on stage,” Trace’s cold voice said.
Kylie tried to ignore the jagged blade of hurt carving into her. Well, she’d been called worse.

The tour is not going as Kylie had dreamed since Trace is pretty much drinking his career down the drain, missing performances, and ignores her the rest of the time. All of that still doesn't stop Kylie's attraction to the broken singer. For a reason she can't quite understand herself, she wants him. Looking at him she can't deny her pull, even though she can't explain it.
God, those eyes. Take cover, they said, because the storm was here, now. And Kylie wanted nothing more than to hurl herself right into its path.

Through many struggles and fights, Kylie comes to realize that Trace is not as indifferent to her as he would like her to believe.
“Kylie, if I ever again see you in a place like The Player’s Club, or alone in a bedroom with a musician who wants nothing more than to fuck you, then I can’t be held responsible for what I might do.”
She swallowed hard, resisting the urge to shrink away from the intensity of his stare. “Does right now count as being alone in a bedroom with a musician who wants to fuck me?”
“Yes, it does. Which is why you should run back to your room as fast as those pretty little legs can carry you. And lock the goddamned door.”

But trace isn't what Kylie needs. He's jaded by life and he knows that he can't give her what she needs.
I’m not that guy, Kylie.”
“What guy?” she asked, pulling back to look at his face so she could figure out what in the
“That guy you deserve. The one who would take you on dates, write you love songs, serenade you in public, send you flowers, and all that shit. That’s not me. I don’t do relationships.”

Even though they both have every reason to not be together, Kylie and Trace are unable to fight the pull toward one another.

Finding herself falling and falling hard, Kylie knows that she just can't stay away from Trace. When one night they both finally give into temptation, they both realize that they can only fight what's burning between them for so long.

She hadn’t known a kiss could feel like love but Trace made a job of it, licking and sucking and gently biting at her lips until he’d tasted every inch of her.

I really enjoyed this book. I love both Trace and Kylie. Kylie was young and a virgin, but she was by no means a pushover. She stood up for herself and didn't play games.

The book had it's share of angst, but it wasn't as overwhelming as you'd find in many other New Adult novels.

Trace is what really made the book for me. He was a perfect mix of asshole, damaged, broken, and sweet. There were times I wanted to smack him, then I wanted to kiss him, and at times I just wanted to hug him.

This was a fantastic debut novel. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because at times the writing was a little simplistic with some repetitive phrasing. However, given that this is the first novel, I was able to look past it for the most part. I think that given a little time and some more experience to work through the kinks, this is going to be such an amazing author and series.

I cannot wait for the 2nd book. With the little teaser we were given at the end of this book, it sounds like it will be a hell of a ride.

Girl With Guitar does give us a HFN ending, so don't be afraid to pick it up if you're scared of cliffhangers.

**4 Sweet Trace ♥ Corbin Stars**

Kylie is left with nothing when her dad dies in a freak accident, except her wonderful country music and her crazy, uncaring step-mother, Darla. She is all alone in the world, so she up sticks and leaves for Nashville, determined to make her dreams of being a country singer/songwriter come true.
★ Music is the most important thing in her life ★
Kylie is about to give up on her dreams....she is almost out of money (waitressing does not pay enough!) and therefore out of time. Then country music superstar, Trace ♥ Corbin comes along.........everything changes........she is asked to join his tour by his management team.....magical!!!!

This story is what dreams are made of, Kylie has the opportunity of a lifetime touring with Trace but she deserves a break after the cards life has dealt her!! This is a feel good book with a cast to die for ♥
[image error]

Trace Corbin is yummy, sexy and delicious, a superstar in every way!!! Delectable....Mmmmmmmm ♥ ♥ ♥

He was hot as ten hells and could sing a girl’s panties right off of her.

Trace opened his eyes. They burned so fiercely she feared she might melt under the heat.

But........

"Trace Corbin should come with a warning label: Highly addictive"

Trace Corbin better not spoil this chance for her with his reckless, uncaring, drinking ways!!! He seems indifferent to the consequences of his actions. And what about Kylie????!!!!

Neither is looking for ♥ love, especially Trace....

Kylie is sassy and sexy and does not take any rubbish from our leading man....she is not afraid to tell him how it is!!!

★“You’re the first woman I’ve ever met who could shut me up.”★

Like all good leading characters, they have conflict and then amazing off the scale sexual chemistry!!!! Wowza......hot, hot, hot!!!

His skin would probably sear hers on impact, but damn she wanted to touch him.

She just wanted him. Like she had never wanted anything or anyone in her entire life.

The red hot lust consuming her body was mirrored back to her from his penetrating stare.

.....claiming her mouth with the deepest kiss of her life.

Both Trace and Kylie love their music and their writing with a passion which proves to be as sexy as hell and gave me goose bumps!!!

“Kylie’s face began to tingle, along with some other parts of her anatomy, as the space between them surged with electricity that had a voltage so high it would turn the first one who entered into Ash.”

A beautiful, sweet story about following your dreams; it left me feeling happy and content.....sigh. ♥ ♥ ♥

A wonderful debut novel and I look forward to reading more!!!

My only complaint is that it's disgusting how well Caisey can write. When I found out this novel was a NaNoWriMo project, I figured I had to become friends with Caisey or else I'd hate her guts from jealousy. Fortunately, she's also a lovely person, as well as being a talented writer.

Kylie Ryans has nothing, which means she has nothing to lose, so when she gets the chance to tour with troubled, formerly platinum selling star, Trace Corbin, it's her one shot at achieving her dreams. The problem? Trace is in the process of drinking himself to oblivion and destroying his career, so Kylie will do whatever it takes to prevent him from taking her down with him.

I absolutely love Kylie, her spunk and her strength. I loved the way she stood up to Trace, spoke her mind, and demanded control over her own destiny. Strong women are a popular trope these days, but they are often just women who are mouthy and irascible. Kylie's the real deal. Tempered by family tragedy and driven by her love of music, she makes increasingly difficult choices to remove every roadblock between her and success.

It'd be easy for this story to just be about her facing down Trace, but the third act takes the story to a whole new level. In the end of the day, Kylie's biggest obstacle is herself and her big mouth. Overcoming that shows the true strength of her character. I can't recommend this highly enough. A few days ago I got to meet Abbi Glines briefly. She and I talked about her career and mine, and I had the chance to hand her a book. I could have handed her one of mine. I handed her this one instead.

I just hope the cover I designed doesn't hold it back!

*The lovely Caisey Quinn provided me with a proof copy*

Y'ALL CAN KEEP YOUR ROCK STARS - I'LL TAKE COUNTRY STAR TRACE CORBIN ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

Here’s a confession: I’m obsessed with country music. *Gasp! What?! No way!* I know, I know, who would have guessed? I live in Kansas. I’ve been in the country my whole life, minus my college years. I retweet waaay too many pictures of Luke Bryan on Twitter. And my blog tagline says I love beer and cowboy boots. It should be a no-fugging-brainer that I love country music. So when the lovely Caisey Quinn offered me a proof copy of Girl with Guitar, I was sooo excited. The main reason? Because there are an enormous amount of books out there that involve a hot rock star, but not many that involve sexy as all hell country stars. And believe me, country stars are sexy as all hell. See Exhibit A below...Mr. Luke "Sexy As A Mother Fucker" Bryan.

Alright, now that you’ve wiped the drool off your face and quite possibly changed your panties, let’s get back to this incredibly country and incredibly wonderful novel. This is the story of Kylie and Trace, and their rocky road to fame, redemption, and ultimately, love. It’s not always pretty; at times, you’ll want to kick Trace in the balls and slap him across the face at the same time. You’ll want to shake Kylie and ask her what the fuck she’s thinking. But you know what? It’s 100 percent worth it, because when they’re good, they’re great. Their relationship will make you laugh, make you smile, make you love, and make you cry. It’s real. It’s imperfectly perfect. Kylie’s smartass, strong attitude made me love her from the very beginning, and Trace’s sweet side covered up by a rugged exterior immediately catapulted him into my top 5 book boyfriends. They’re perfect for each other, they balance each other out. And I think Blake Shelton describes that balance best:

Girl with Guitar is Caisey’s debut novel, but if I didn’t know that before reading this, I would never have guessed that – her writing is that good. She draws you in from the very beginning and makes you root for these characters. You’re wanting Kylie to make it, you’re wanting Trace to get his shit together, you’re wanting them to just bang it out already! You’ll find yourself so wrapped up in this world of country music and romance that you don’t want to blink, because you aren’t ready to come back to reality yet. Her writing combined with the incredible lyrics written throughout made me want to read anything and everything Caisey Quinn writes; I’ll read her fucking grocery list if she emails it to me!

Here’s a little sample of one of the songs in the novel. This one is called Waitin’ For You To Call...

I should probably wrap this up since I’m on my fifth Miller Lite, and y’all are probably already thinking “Jesus, this chick isn’t ever going to stop talking!” So I’ll just say this – I absolutely, positively, adore this novel and the author. Girl with Guitar isn’t just for the country music lovers out there, although it just must turn you into one, and Trace and Kylie’s romance will quickly become one of your favorites. So buy Caisey’s debut novel, put on your cowgirl boots, pour yourself a shot of Jack, and get your country on! Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about this novel but damn it I need to stop, so I'm going to go finish my Miller Lite and retweet more pictures of Luke Bryan. BUT, I'll leave you with this: my casting picks for Kylie Ryans (in the infamous champagne dress) and Trace Corbin. Eat your heart out.

Recently, I was blessed to "meet" Caisey Quinn on Twitter and given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of her debut, Girl With Guitar. Whenever I read a book written by a friend, or someone who just genuinely seems to be a good person with a great heart, I get a little nervous. I so badly want to like it and am completely terrified that I won't. Thank goodness, this was not the case, for not only did this book meet my expectations, it exceeded them! Now I plan to stalk Ms. Quinn until she writes another one :)

So why did I love it? Well, for many reasons. But the thing that really made this book stand out, that had me inhaling it in a few short hours, is the characters. See, I'm a total character girl. I love connecting with them on an emotional level, feeling their joys and their pain, and falling in love right along with them. And Girl With Guitar gave me everything I could possibly want. A misunderstood hero. A feisty heroine. Amazing chemistry. Fun moments mixed with the steamy. And real, authentic growth for both of my main characters. Great lyrics provided the soundtrack to this country love story that made me laugh out loud, swoon, and even tear up. Can't ask for more than that :) Bravo, Caisey. You nailed it!

Girl with Guitar was a delightful, refreshing and slightly angsty read with a country music theme.

[Summary]

After the recent death of Kylie’s father, her step mom kicks Kylie out of the house and with no home to go to, Kylie moves to Nashville to pursue her dream as a country music singer. Trying to save money to record a demo, Kylie becomes a waitress. Trace is a famous country singer man-whore with a string of issues that is starting to hurt his career. Trying to revamp his image, Kylie is asked to go on tour with Trace. Despite their differences Kylie and Trace form an attraction towards each other.

[Review]

Girl with a Guitar was a light-hearted sweet read with A LOT of tension.

Oh the drama!

Let’s get started…

[Kylie]

Oh sweet sweet sweet Kylie. I would say Caisey Quinn depicted Kylie perfectly. I envisioned an innocent, sweet girl leaving her home town of Oklahoma with a few bucks in her pocket but with hopeful dreams of a bright future in a scary, yet impressive city. I liked Kylie, even though at times I wanted to shake her when she would let her insecurities get the best of her, she was, however, all around likable. You felt for her and all the crap she put up with.

[Trace]

I was really up and down with Trace. Trace is an arse, Trace is a man-whore, Trace is an all around self-centered and an egotistical jerk. I liked him at times… he was the typical Hero I expected in the beginning, but towards the middle I wasn’t so fond of him, then towards the end he redeems himself (kind of).

[Overall]

I would describe the beginning amusing and light.

Oh God. She was about to puke on last year’s Country Music Artist of the Year

Towards the middle to end, there’s a LOT of tension and the drama was kicked up a notch. I wouldn’t call Girl with Guitar too steamy, but

…the shower scene was HOTT

Trace Corbin should come with a warning label: highly addictive

I gave Girl with Guitar a 4 star rating because I really liked Kylie. I thought she was strong, a little naive, but adorable. When she started to get her confidence, this is how I felt towards her…

…you’re a$$ better show in Baton Rouge because one of us actually gives a sh!t about being here, and I’ll be damned if someone like you is going to piss all over my dream before I’ve even had a chance to live it

I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but leads to an opening for a book 2. Disclaimer, there is an ending, so don’t worry there’s no cliff-hanger.

I had a few issues with Trace. I think he pushed Kylie a bit too much. I was fine with his personal issues because it added a little something to the story, but I wasn’t cool with his issues towards Kylie. I thought it just didn’t seem enough to warrant his negative actions and feelings. I kind of wanted to punch him in the face a few times.

If I so much as get a whiff of liquor on your breathe on the day of a show, I will go straight crazy ex-girlfriend psycho b!tch on you’re a$$

However, I did like his venerable side, especially with his interactions with his family. I liked that Kylie and Trace had little moments and my favorite part is where they started to share lyrics… I just got a tingle inside.

Who doesn’t love a boy who can play guitar?

I think Quinn wrote a really good read for her debut novel. I am very impressed and she is an author to watch out for. I think there are some kinks to work through, but overall, Girl with Guitar was a nice read that had a country music theme with a perfect title and fitting cover.

I recommend.

My version of Kylie

Before today, there was never anything I’d have even thought about doing for a second if it meant risking my shot… but if I could relive the past twenty-four hours over again every day for the rest of my life… I’d give it up altogether.

My version of Kylie and Trace writing music together

Sweet innocent Kylie just lost her much loved Dad in a horrible accident. He left her the evil stepmother who throws her out after accusing her of sleeping with her men toys. She takes what little she owns and heads to Nashville to fulfill a promise she made to her father. She is going to be a country star ! She need a job, a place to sleep and a place to play. After finding those she meets the biggest ego, drunkest player in town and there begins a new chapter on the country road of heartbreak and song.
It was cheesy, unbelievable, things just came together too easy, she was too naive, she was a virgin, luckily that wasn't a big issue in the story, and had some really dumb moments.
It was also, sweet, kind, warmhearted and sexy, wow somebody went to the peak ! It was what it was a country romance. The sex was written, nothing over done. The romance was nicely paced with cliffhanger to keep you coming back for book 2.

I give this book 4 stars because:
1. It was fast paced read.
2. The drama didn't last that long.
3. The book sucked me in so much that I was at 80% before I realized how far I had read.
4. Even though parts of this book reminded me of other rock star books, it still had new elements I hadn't read about before.
5. A few times it provoked deep emotions out of me.
6. I like how the book ends.

Trace Corbin is sexy and can be very sweet and sometimes he has some sweet things to say as well. On the other hand, he can be a jerkface and say hateful words too. He has some issues he needs to deal with. Basically, Trace is on a downward spiral and committing career-suicide.

Kylie Ryans is freshly out of high school and in search of a new life in the music world. She wants to make something of herself. She leaves home and finds herself in a Nashville working in a bar.

Trace happens upon Kylie in the bar she works in and hears her singing a certain song during amateur night. Trace's people want her to sign on to his tour and it all goes from there. He's good at pissing her and his record label off by doing stupid things; she doesn't put up with his bull and calls him on it. They build up an interesting relationship as they fight against their attraction for each other. During the course of this tour they will share a tour bus, learn about each other, see through the other person deep down, and deal with bad publicity, as well as those who want to ride their coat-tails. When it's all said and done feelings will be hurt, words will be said, love will find its way in to their hearts, family and friends will be involved, deals will be made and lives will be changed.

This book does not have a cliffhanger, nor does it feel like a "to-be-continued" ending either. It turns out that this book is not a standalone. There is a second book coming out in August 2013 called: Girl on Tour (Kylie Ryans, #2) by Caisey Quinn . I will say that the ending of this book would have suited me just fine on how it wraps up. However, I look forward to knowing what happens in the next chapter of Trace and Kylie's lives in regards of being together and with their music careers.

My favorite thing about Trace, besides some of steamy moments and sweet words, were the times he called Kylie: Kylie Lou. It's more sweet and endearing than any other term of endearment in this book.

CONTENT: language, drinking and sexual situations.

ARC courtesy of author Caisey Quinn in exchange for an honest review.

Holy freaking cow! This is on my favorites shelf for life! I will be reading this again and again. Trace oh Trace. Cowboys and country music what else can you ask for?? I was reeled in by Nashville, country music, Kylie's heartbreaking story all in the first few chapters. This author knows how to grab your heart strings and tug at just the right moments.
There were a few typos here and there and the style if writing was different than what I like or am used to, so it took a little while to get used to it. Personally, my favorite is when the book has the main characters point of view and it seemed this one was a general point of view and that's where it got confusing (that's why the .25 stars were knocked off) more of just a preference. I understand why she didn't do it in one POV so we can understand the WHOLE story, but anyway!
Kylie caught the break of a life time and with it came a lot of trials. With no one in her life to help her make decisions, she was stuck to make them all by herself. She was a first feel and then think type of person, much like me. I think that's why I related so much to this character.
Trace was a heartbreaker and she knew it. He didn't do relationships or love. He really was into drinking and wanted to screw up his career because his label wasn't treating him fair. Kylie and Trace get to know each other better on the tour. I loved how they believed the best in each other. This is a definite must read and to read again book. This will be a go to book for me! Go and pick it up!

Ah, where to start? First of all, I love this author. Adore her. She is awesome. I read a paranormal book she wrote under a different name. Christabel by Suzanne Sullivan. I was blown away by it so I knew I wanted to read more books of her. Whether or not they are the same genre. I actually haven't read too mant New Adult books yet because my main genre has always been paranormal types of books. But I really wanted to know if this one was going to be as good as her other book. Guess what? It was even better!
Also when I checked out some reviews of it on Goodreads I was thrilled to see how possitive they were. 4 stars, bam! 5 stars, bam! It got me even more excited to read Girl With Guitar and I'm so glad I read it! Personally for me this is one of the best damn books I've read so far in 2013.

Girl With Guitar is about eighteen-year old Kylie Ryans, who feels first and thinks second. Her passion and dream is music. She wants to make it big as a country star.
When Kylie's bitch of a step-mother, Darla, kicks her out of the house after her dad died in an accident, she leaves her home town to go to Nashville to make her and her dad's dreams come true. As she starts waitressing to save money to make a demo, a chance presents itself to join a tour with Trace Corbin, hot shot country music superstar. This would be the perfect opportunity for Kylie. Maybe even her big break! If only Trace wasn't hell-bend on destroying his carreer by drinking his troubles away and hooking up with girls. It might just be the end of his carreer entirely and ruining any chance Kylie has to even start out.

As soon and as short it was, I got hooked by the prologue. I'm not kidding. I read it and I had to put my Kindle down to take a moment for myself and trying to not burst into tears. It was a kind of sad beginning but perfect and beautiful. I knew I was going to love this book and that there would be no turning back for me now.

Other than the prologue the thing that kept me reading was definitely the main character, Kylie. I love her! Why can't more characters be like her? She's sassy, doesn't think before she acts. Like what's been said in the book, she feels first and thinks second. Her love for music might be rivaling even my love for books.
 photo tumblr_mk9x05i9Dw1s75crfo1_500_zps89463604.jpg

She's also so courageous. Life kept throwing crap at her but she fought on to make her dreams come true. You can't not admire that about her. She's a fighter and puts Trace in his place, as he deserves when he acts like a total asshole. You go, girl!
Which brings us to one of the other favorite things in this book, if not the favorite thing...

Enter Trace Corbin, country music super star!
 photo tumblr_mkwhzrCRJl1rz572do1_500_zps2259c961.jpg

Trace Corbin should come with a warning label: highly addictive.

What can I say about him other than; hot damn!
 photo tumblr_inline_mj1p7d81lN1qz4rgp_zpsf4b0929c.gif

That man brings sexy to a whole different level with his singing, shirtless cooking and mud fights!
But of course, he's more than just a pretty face. Under all his troubles, drinking, flirting and overall jackassness there's a decent guy there. One who really cares about his family, even when he did go through hell in his childhood, and Kylie. And of course his music.

Okay, and yeah, he was hot as ten hells and could sing a girl's panties right off of her.

He and Kylie are something. Right from the start their conversations or I should say bickering screamed sexual tension! I love that.
He can't believe Kylie actually stands up to him. No one ever really does and when they get to know each other better they both see that there's more to each other than the eye meets. This makes for one hell of a New Adult book if you ask me.

One of my favorites scenes was this one moment (I'm not going to say too much because I don't want to spoil it for other but I just gotta say something) where Trace sings to Kylie one morning because it means so much to her. I was literally flailing my arms like a demented muppet because I felt so much emotions and just ahhhh! THE FEELS!
 photo tumblr_m88gfrTLFT1rqm14lo1_500_zps0c953c8e.gif

The writing is so damn good, I can't get over how good Caisey writes! I had to slow myself down because I didn't want to finish it in one setting. I wanted to savor this book so I could read it for days. It was hard but I managed to slow it a little bit at least. Caisey Quinn has a way with telling a story that some authors, who have written so many books don't even get close to. Seriously! There were also lyrics written into it, songs that Kylie wrote herself, and I found myself, even when they were not real life songs that I know, to have them in my head and almost singing them. Something like that never happened to me but I loved it. So pleasantly surprised I was!

I felt like I knew these characters for years when only I knew them for a few days. I cared for them, and not only Kylie and Trace. There were so many loveable characters, like Trace's sisters. Especially Rae, she's the cutest. I also loved Tonya, who gave Kylie some pretty great advice that actually landed her the gig of the tour. Also Trace's manager Pauly was awesome and so kind to both him and Kylie. I cared for them all.
And boy, will I miss them. So I gotta say, I'm so glad there's coming a second book (called Girl on Tour). I can't wait to find out more about Kylie and Trace.

I must also mention the romance. I almost always need romance in a book and in this one if definitely did not disappoint. The sexual tension was making me nuts. Pulling in and pulling away! Just argh! When when they did got together it was perfection!
Until of course all hell broke loose and I wanted to smack both Kylie and Trace for not getting their act together and make them see how perfect they are for each other and how they should be together.
 photo tumblr_m2pkf2dIrw1r3zat8_zps13ec2a88.gif

Anywho... I might not know a lot of country songs and music yet but this book has gotten me to start to love this genre. I never really felt for it until Girl With Guitar. I gotta admit I'm a little obsessed now with this music. When Caisey Quinn mentioned Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Jana Kramer I couldn't help but laugh because for the last few days I have been listening like crazy to songs by all of them. And I so love their music! So thank you, Ms. Quinn, for opening a whole new world of music for me.

I also listened to Dark Side by Kelly Clarkson and Hard to Love by Lee Brice as they are mentioned both in Girl With Guitar and on Caisey Quinn's website and I must say those songs are perfect for Kylie and Trace. They've both been on repeat a A LOT and I especially love Hard to Love, it's so Trace. <3

Girl With Guitar is a perfectly, cute read with steamy romance that makes me want to listen to country music on repeat non-stop. Kylie and Trace have a powerful attraction that makes me sigh and swoon, combine it with their shared love for music and you have fireworks!
I loved this book immensely and I would recommened it to everyone I know! I mean it, go read it now! You will NOT be disappointed in the least.

Girl with Guitar by Caisey Quinn has just made my all time FAVORITE read list ~ O.M.G. what a sweet read with enough gut clinching moments I was totally....................................................

while I was reading this one. Kylie Lou is just a girl literally with her guitar from Pride, Oklahoma ~ Kylie has lost everything & everyone that meant the most to her and her story had me.....................

well Miss Kylie has a dream and that dream stems from her absolute love of music and she heads off to Nashville with little to no money to make that dream come true not only for herself but for her Daddy. Well true to real life Nashville didn't exactly open their arms wide open and give Kylie all her dreams in one fell swoop but when she is literally down on her luck and out of money God has a funny way of providing her with an opportunity she doesn't know she'll get by being in the right place at the right time!

This little opportunity brings her face to face with Trace Corbin the hot as hell, almost washed up country star that smirk alone has women melting and surely could get them to drop their panties. This boy has it all and I'm pretty sure if I was faced with this gorgeous country boy from Macon, Georgia I would......................................

So as I took to that tour bus as Kylie joined Trace on tour I had no idea I was going to take an emotional ride but I knew I would love ever minute of it ~ Kylie more times than not had me...................

Trace had me wanting to thinking.................................

him a time or two, in between the times I totally swooned over his fine ass in his tight ass jeans ~ when things heat up ................

I was totally........................................................

but like any good book just as I start getting giddy the rug was pulled out from under me and I was .............................

and I didn't know if I was coming or going and few little incidents had me...............................................................

and by the end of this sweet ass read I was totally..................

Girl with Guitar is a total 5 boot kicking, down home country loving star read that I will recommend to everybody ~ this book has to be on your TBR this one has to be read cause I guarantee this sweet read between a beautiful girl and an almost broken boy will leave your heart beating happily and you wanting to start right over from page one and enjoy Kylie & Trace all over again!

**********ARC given in exchange for an honest review***********

As soon as I saw the synopsis for this book, I knew I had to read it. I was expecting it to be good and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I was surprised by just how much I actually loved it!

The story focuses on 18 year old Kylie Ryans who dreams of making it as a Country singer. After losing her Mother at a young age, Kylie is brought up in a single parent household by her Father with whom she is incredibly close. As she gets older, he meets and marries wicked step-mother Darla and when he dies and Darla kicks her out the house, Kylie is left with nothing but her guitar and her dreams. And no-one, not even washed-up, drunken, superstar Trace Corbin is going to stand in her way.

Even though Kylie's been dealt a tough hand in life, she doesn't let anyone or anything get her down. She was a very likeable character and I could easily connect with her thoughts and feelings. When Trace was being a jackass (and let's face it, it was more than once) Kylie wasn't afraid to call him on it and tell him to sort himself out.

Trace was the sexy, Country singing bad boy and he played the part well; drinking excessively, partying, playing around with girls, missing his gigs and just generally being an ass, while flushing his career down the toilet. Though as it turns out, he's really not all that bad. In fact, he's actually a pretty great guy when he's not trying to push everyone away or play up to who everyone thinks he should be.

You can feel the sexual tension between the pair which leads to some steamy moments that leave you hot and bothered (in the very best of ways). I was so glad when things started to look up for the pair, but you just know something's going to go wrong. Cue the wicked step Mother making claims that leave Kylie fighting for everything she's worked so hard for; her career and the man she's fallen in love with.

I loved pretty much everything about Girl With Guitar, from the struggles that both Kylie and Trace faced, the back stories of the characters, the writing style, the witty and clever dialogue, the song lyrics written by Kylie and Trace (which I would love to hear as actual records), and the beautiful ending to the story. Though they weren't involved in the storyline to a huge degree I loved secondary characters ; Lulu, Rae, Clare Ann, and Tonya and I really hope to hear more from them.

Though I would have loved to see an Epilogue and find out how Kylie and Trace are doing Months/Years from now, I have been assured we will be seeing from them again. Girl With Guitar had me laughing, crying, pulling out the Ben & Jerrys, falling in love, and wishing for more. I strongly suggest you give this book a try and forget about Rock stars, because there's a Country boy here waiting to steal your heart.

Caisey Quinn has a big future ahead of her, and I'm so glad I got a chance to witness the start of her journey.

Wonderful, marvelously written contemporary romance. Fun-to-read with a sassy, witty and determined heroine who didn't back down and stood strong and proud. Loved it! And of course, an added plus was the Oklahoma references!

I WILL BE A TRACE CORBIN FAN GIRL!!!
Okay, so I was gifted this book on twitter, when @bookswinefood was being generous one evening... I was lucky enough to be on my TL at the right time. That being said, I GLADLY would have paid!! This book immediately became one of my favorites!

Kylie Ryan's is a young, beautiful talent just looking to find some new roots, and accomplish her dream of succeeding in country music.. She knows this is nearly impossible in Nashville considering its the shark tank of everything country..
But before she can even think about her future career hopes, she first has to figure out how to get past Trace Corbin... Or through him... Or on top of him... Whatever!

Yeah... Trace Corbin is HOT! From the way Caisey describes his arms, all the way up to how his hair comes out if his trucker hat is GOOOOOOOD... You can just imagine him sitting there on a stool, with a guitar, in a sticky humid bar, serenading you while drinking a beer... Oh Geeeez can you tell how much I liked him??? A LOT..

Anyhow... What goes on between these two is great! The build up, the angst, the NEED, the hate... All of it will make sense once you read it.. Caisey puts it together in a REALLY nice package that makes you feel all the good stuff you want to feel when reading a book!

I was discussing this book with some of my friends, and said how I wanted to put Kylie on my book girlfriend list.. Which I don't think I've had before.. But I will tell you this, there are probably only a handful of heroines that would be on THAT list.
KYLIE is awesome!! She says what she means, she witty, and feisty.. And my favorite thing about her is that she is absolutely NOT afraid to say what's Really truly on her mind, and in her heart.. She doesn't hide behind walls, and act all "stupid eye-lashy" like so many do!

There is a book 2 coming and I can't wait!!!!!!
Caisey knows how to end a book in such a way, that she keeps you REALLY wanting more without wanting to strangle her!! Which is good, I like my Authors alive..

This book is one of my all time favorites. It had me hooked from the very first page. I read it back when I didn't really do reviews, but the next book is coming out soon and I can't wait.

I loved Kylie. She has spunk and fire and she never lost who she really is. She is to this day one of my top 10 heroines.

Trace, oh Trace how I hate to love you. Damn you for being so damn hot.

This is a must read. It's one of the books I've re-read.

I wanted to like this more. It was written well. It went by pretty quickly, but I had a hard time respecting both characters. I mean, this was kind of a toxic relationship and it didn't make me swoon.
Will not read the next one.
