اقتنيت الكتاب بسبب رغبة شخصية في معرفة تفاصيل ماحدث في ليبيا ما بعد الاطاحة بالقذافي.. واعترف أني نهلت منه الكثير. بيد أن عديد الفصول غلبت عليها .رواية تفاصيل شخصية مر بها الكاتب على حساب تحاليل سياسية وتاريخية للوضع هناك، كنت انتظرها من الكتاب..

Jason Pack’s book is a scholarly, provocative and highly individual account of how the apparent chaos of post-Gaddafi Libya serves as a microcosm for understanding the wider forces driving changes in international relations and the established world order.
The author uses a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on historical, economic and psychological epistemologies, as well as political science and International Relations theory, to explain how, over the past decade the decline of U.S. hegemony under successive administrations has created new rules, behaviours and systems, which can be observed in Libya and around the world, and which he identifies as the guiding characteristics of a novel epoch: the Global Enduring Disorder.
Within this topsy-turvy new world, the established rules, activities, assumptions and expectations that have governed our understanding of how things work, are now chronically subverted, so that nothing appears to function as it should.
So we are introduced to Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) which is neither national nor unified; a Libyan-American business association which seemingly strives to prevent new or profitable commercial relationships from emerging; and a multiplicity of armed groups whose primary function appears to be extorting money from the public purse rather than protecting the Libyan populace.
Mr Pack punctuates his narrative with illuminating, surprising and often amusing anecdotes from his career as a Libya expert dealing with political and business leaders, which demonstrate how this entropic dynamic works against the collective interests of both domestic and international stakeholders, typically serving only the outdated and/or corrupted incumbent institutions, corporations and small cliques of vested interests and individuals.
A must-read, both for those with an interest in Libya’s recent history and for anyone trying to make sense of the disorientating geopolitical developments we see playing out in the world today.
