Breeding for a beast was not the fairy tale, happily ever after ending I had in mind…
I always knew my husband was shady. But drugging me and selling me in an auction to the highest bidder was dirty, even for him.
I practically begged the one-eyed giant in the crowd to bid on me, to save me. And he did.
He didn’t do it out of the kindness of his heart, though. If he even has one.
See, Lugh Conmac is the most violent, brutal monster the Irish mafia has to offer—and he wants me to give him two sons. In exchange, I’ll earn my freedom.
But it’s not long before I start wondering if I even want my freedom. Especially when Lugh gives me more respect (and orgasms) than my husband ever did.
Is it Stockholm syndrome that keeps me coming back for more, or is there more to it than that?
Forgot to write the review after I read this so this will be generic.
It's been a couple of months, so I can't remember all the details, or why exactly I gave this book 4 stars.
I do remember that I loved this series, and I can't wait for the next book (if only the author put it as series on here, so it wouldn't get confusing). This isn't the traditional romance, but more of a modern day Beauty and a Beast. And then the Beast turns out to be a kind of orgasm-giving prince.
This book was atrocious. I literally can't believe I read all 400 pages of manic writing... I need an award! And a mental health check.
Overall, I started and finished this book because I could not fucking believe siggy shade had released so many books since I last looked her up. Like, miss maam has been ~pumping~ them out. Part of me wants to read the preceding books that relate to this universe since they're half the length but the better half of me wants to read something I'll actually enjoy.
The plot was messy, the emotions were definitely something an AI would write, and I seriously cannot believe there's a new 'I'm quirky' trope I've noticed brewing across romance books... mother fuckers will hoot and holler about how the fmc is soooo different because she's "bloodthirsty", or feels no guilt over serious crimes and violence. Girly pop, you are simply a fictional character manipulated to make fucking murderers okay! Our dear Helen fr went on and on about how little guilt she felt for helping murder people or essentially gaslighting herself into accepting the rapists and murders she is marrying herself into! Like she met her man AT A HUMAN AUCTION... WHERE WOMAN WERE BOUGHT, RXPED, OR HARVESTED FOR THEIR ORGANS.
Anyways, the characters sucked, the plot stunk, and I could not give a shit about the smut. When authors talk about cervixes getting abused, I'm done. I did a lot of swiping past the sex scenes and generally just wanted to see how this shit show would be wrapped up. I can't believe I read it all still...

For a book with the word 'Breed' in the title, there was no actual breeding-kinkery to be found, aside from a mild mention of it at the end. I feel like there was potential for this to be a lot better (love the concept), but it lacked passion (that's just my opinion though).
The blurb was misleading i expected a beast and i got a teddy bear. Don’t get me wrong I love him but when i expect steak and get chicken it is very disappointing. He was too soft for the taste and she was too dumb. Who willingly marries a conman and then is surprised when they con them.
Another great book by Siggy Shade! I love how she draws you right in from the start. I love the characters she creates. Helen is sold by her creepy husband and bought by Lugh, who is know as the beast, who says he wants her to give him two sons. Turns out all is not what it seems and there are bigger monsters out there. I love Helen and Lugh, they steam up the pages and I lived watching their relationship grow.
Ooookay, the first red flag was the title and that should’ve stopped me from reading it but nope I DIDNT. I read and I cringe and finished and i couldn’t be happier. I didn’t vibe with The main male character (he was a complete ass), as per all mafia men are. The girl I couldn’t like either because she was annoying and literally couldn’t keep her legs closed.
**** READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS ******** i didn’t because i have read a lot of dark books but this one was a big fat no for me
This book is so freaking good! It gives you all the feels& then some. Helen & Lugh are so good playing off of each other. You just know they are perfect together!
Beware this is technically a series I didn't know that. You can read it alone but now I gotta read the rest. Really enjoyed this book. I liked how strong the girl was too along with the main guy
The story is nothing new, and the characters are also nothing new. It was fine, just not on par with some of the other Siggy Shade books that I've read. I think for someone who isn't ready to jump into the deep end of what-the-hell-was-that romance novels, this might be a good one, but it fell kinda flat for me.

review:
yes, miss girl. it was definitely stockholm syndrome and i'm not conmplaning because the book was good. but there are some real proven points that stockholm syndrome plays a main part and your love story when you met the guy not even a month and he asked you to marry him? i mean i guess when you know you know but a month is a little.... jumping the gun. i feel like the story should have stretched out for there romance at least over the course of 5 months. i didn't see much connection on building there relationship. he was always getting hurt she cared for him. he dragged him on and they worked together to kill the bad guy. more like friends with benifits they could be. (that's just my opinion)
helen: i liked her, she had fire and some personality. though my brain really couldn't picture her.
lugh: he was a grump, as usual for some mafia men. he needed a wife to bare his children and i guess he found one. by saving her at that auction.
more mafia then romance. which i had a hard time trying to keep up with who Uranos and the dagda were. why did lugh and his brother have different last names?
also i'm glad that hermonine was actually his daughter and not that sick bastard thantos. but that pretty much sums up my review ;)
This book was not what I expected. I definitely thought that it was going to be more spice than it was. I mean since the name is Breed For the Beast. There was plenty of steamy moments in the book but it was pretty much that for awhile. Nothing but steam until finally there wasn't. The plot of everything else was ok. The whole betrayal and the beef between the guys was interesting but I was also not really invested in anything other than watching how they managed to deal with the betrayer. It was interesting watching how this particular family worked. Though there didn't seem to be any true menace other than the one guy who was an enemy of Lugh (our MMC). Lugh and the rest of the Irish Mob definitely didn't seem menacing at all. I liked the story for what it was but I probably wouldn't read more by this author.
The spice in this book was alright once we finally got to it. I was hoping for something more than what we ended up getting. I would give this book a 3 out of 3 for the spice. Overall I'm giving this a 3 as well. I thought the story was ok. To say that there was almost insta love that happened here, it could have been a lot more spice since that was kinda the trope here. As for the rest of the story, it was ok. I would rec this to someone who was looking for a short read that is very topical. It is an ok contemporary crime romance.
I read the synopsis of this book and it interested me right away. I was expecting dark, dirty, some story and plenty of spice. There was actually more story than I expected, which was surprisingly good. Shockingly, I actually expected a bit more spice so I think because I went in with that expectation I was a little disappointed.
I like the FMC, she’s just trying to survive, and she did what she had to do. The MMC left more to be desired. For someone who is supposed to be such a scary figure, I felt kind of bored with him. I think the FMC, with the right tools, would’ve been better in the mafia.
Like I said, the story was actually pretty decent, but it moved a little too fast. I think more time needed to occur between events and feeling development. I get insta-love, but, I don’t think it’s exactly what I was expecting when going into this novel.
I’ll definitely read another book by this author because I think my expectations may have changed how I read the book. There was a good story, I didn’t mind the characters and there was plenty of action, less so that type of action, but just how it goes.
This story was fine, it was actually kind of a cinnamon roll mafia hero, but I'm so irritated by it. This book was recommended to me as a breeding book. I get it, sometimes recs are open to interpretation, like if I want dark, someone else's interpretation could be way off. But breeding should mean there is BREEDING in it! AND it's in the freaking title! When the couple doesn't even have the smex until after 70%, it's already failing as a breeding book to me. But, I can give some [more] leeway, maybe they'll be procreating like bunnies for the last 30%. But no. Even though she was ovulating, they decided it's not the right time to have kids, so there is still no breeding! Said breeding doesn't start until 96%! And the epilogue didn't do it any favors either. It jumps 5 years, so here I am expecting something crazy like 12 kids, but she is only on her second pregnancy that far down the road. I feel like I've been taken for a ride, and not the good kind. This book would have probably gotten 4 stars from me had it not led me on like it did, but as I said, I'm just so irritated with it, so it's only getting 3.
Went into this book wanting the Beauty and the Beast vibes and the author more than delivered. I'm usually not a fan of mafia romances, but I LOVE this book. It is one of my favs of the year. If anything I'm mad that it's over so soon.
Helen is an assertive woman with a good head on her shoulders. She oversees the family's business - a slaughterhouse she inherited from her father that teeters on the outskirts of the mafia crime scene. She has been married to her childhood sweetheart and the only man she has ever loved and is wanting to take their marriage to the next level and start a family. What starts off as a romantic date night and sweet gestures ends with Helen drugged and on the auction block. Her situation is looking beyond hopeless, but when she begs a stranger to outbid a serial killer for her has she signed herself up for a fate worse than death...
With this book the author shows their range of being able of writing great contemporary romance in addition to taking you down the rabbit hole in the paranormal romance genre.
First off I’d like to say that I started and finished this book in two days. I’m not bragging, I’m saying I couldn’t for the life of me put it down.
I especially love books like these because the details are so put together it doesn’t feel like a monologue that goes on forever. The action takes place right off the bat when you start the book and kept me wanting more and more.
Helena and Lugh’s characters were written beautifully. I really wish we could’ve gotten a little more information about Lugh’s mother I feel like it would’ve been a great addition to the story.
I had a gut feeling about Silas from the beginning there’s no hiding that.
The steam and spice in this book are astounding. Had me hanging off each word like I was on a tightrope. Lugh is a man that definitely knows how to please a woman and talk her through it iykyk 🫠🫠
I would definitely recommend this book to a friend (and have already)

It was a pretty interesting story, but it lacked a bit of depth. Again, it's not surprising in such stories when, even in the very description of the book, MC says that "don't I have Stockholm syndrome, that I'm so attached to it?"
It's even more confusing and doesn't add to the benefits of the fact that, in fact, all the main action of the book fits into 2 weeks?? A quarter of which MCwas locked up.
On the plus side, I can add that at least Lugh is not an asshole, as I used to read in such stories. The morally gray/black guys have already fucked me up, I'll be honest. I also liked Helen as a character, strong and brave, not very reckless, each of them with their own quirks, but quite interesting. However, to go after the main villain with just the two of them, arguing that "well, Lugh doesn't want his people to get shot"?? It's like he's not part of the Irish mafia, and he only has 10 people under his leadership, including the housekeeper. The plot is 5/10, it's quite possible to read it once, it took me one evening (tomorrow I won't even remember their names) spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Story was quite interesting ngl but this woman called Helen I don't understand her.
She gets furious about called a whore and treated like one then she literally doesn't move an inch when a fucking disgusting serial killer rips her leggings and spits on her ass even though she could have just stab him with her dagger LIKE SHE HAD DONE AFTER THIS........babe you deserve to be a whore. =============================== Up to who called "The beast" aka Lugh.
You are a good man bro and your mom or whoever raised you needs to be awarded not rewarded, literally the greenest flag in this story EXCEPT and mark my words EXCEPT that you literally fucks her every second and the fact that she keeps up with you is impressive???? Bro please lessen whatever you're eating , you are not a dog in heat🙏🏻🙏🏻. =============================== Well all in all , I liked the story events BUT ☝🏻 because I'm a psycho I didn't like the happy ending. Can't the author make cliffhangers , open endings or even sad ones??? Happy endings are boring.
That's it all 💋.

I have to say this has to be one of the calmest books I've read by this author, but I will say I still loved it. Helen is married to Silas, she runs her family business and wants a family, but her husband wants none of it. He's a con artist who loves money more than his wife and he has a plan to make more. His latest scheme involves human flesh, more so that of Helen. He drugs her and sends her to be auctioned off.
Helen falls into the hands of one of the mob, and he has a proposition for her that with the situation she is in she can't really refuse.
While I'm used to reading more of Siggy Shade's paranormal-type books, they're also brilliant at dark contemporary and this book was everything I would ask for in that genre. The FMC is feisty and strong, and while the MMC is a little terrifying, he has a heart of gold when you get to know him and he's fiercely protective, just how I like my men.
Wow, Pizza, Prosecco, dishes done and the house cleaned maybe Silas her “loving” husband was finally going to say yes to having a baby! Even though Silas was a conman, Helen never got involved in his frauds. She stayed out his business and he stayed out of the meat slaughter house she inherited from her father. He loved her? He just sold her off to the auction house as “Human meat. The sexiest kind.” If not purchased as a sex slave, they harvest your organs. Her loving Husband says to her as they are hauling her away. “Lot number 362” was her number to be auctioned! How she convinces someone to purchase her and what that person wants in return. The plans she makes on how she will get her revenge on her husband. How will she stay alive and full fill the agreement she made with the man who purchased her for two million dollars. Will Helen get her revenge on her husband or will she be taken by Maurice Thanatos, the mobster who had gotten off on a technicality for murdering his mistress.
Helen is married to one of the worst guys who has decided to sell her in an auction. She very nearly gets sold to an even worse man until a one eyed monster of a man, Lugh, wins the bid. His arrangement is simple: give him two sons and she's free to leave. She agrees with plans of an escape before any of that can happen, but the more time she spends with him, the more she finds he's not really the Beast that everyone claims him to be.
Siggy Shade is becoming one of my favorite authors. I look forward to the new books they put out and what twisted scenarios we'll get to dive into. Helen and Lugh are a mismatched pair, but oddly fitting for one another. I absolutely loved Lugh and his whole persona. He's nicknamed the Beast (and for good reason) and yet he's actually a great person once you're in his good graces.
Breed for the Beast by Siggy Shade was hands down amazing! I’ve read this author before and I really enjoyed the other book so I was really looking forward to this one. My expectations were high but they were exceeded. I will say check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. I really enjoyed the writing and overall flow and pace of this story. But the characters were my favorite part, they were unique and had such depth to them. There are so many great things going on in this book… action, intrigue, funny moments and some great spice. Helen was a strong woman who was smart and sassy. Lugh had a tough exterior but on the inside had a kind, soft heart. The chemistry between the two is mind blowing and I really loved watching them grow into each other. Siggy Shade has hit another amazing book with me! Definitely a must read.
“Breeding for a beast was not the fairy tale, happily ever after ending I had in mind…”
I really enjoyed this story! Helen is strong, sassy, and stubborn, but she quickly realizes that Lugh isn’t going to hurt her and that he has a big heart. In a way, this story gave off Beauty and the Beast vibes, just with a mafia twist, which I loved.
Lugh is a gentle giant on the inside but an intense mafia guy on the outside. Having been betrayed by multiple people, he always makes sure to stay two steps ahead, just in case. When Helen begs for his help, he is both shocked and mesmerized, and soon they will need each other to fight an enemy who will stop at nothing until he has Helen for his twisted games.
I won’t spoil the rest, but this story is packed with plot twists, action-packed scenes, and so much more. Don’t wait—read it now!

I really enjoyed this book, from reading the blurb to starting it, the plot had me curious. It's definitely unlike any other mafia romances that I've read before. I've read some of this author's work before and enjoyed what I've read so I thought I'd enjoy this but I LOVED Lugh and Helen's story. The Twists definitely kept me on my toes. You will probably throw your kindle (I did), you'll fall in love with Lugh (I did), and you'll sit there smiling without realising at how sweet this is (I did). Although this book has it's dark elements such as the husband giving her up and the auction, among other things, the love between Helen and Lugh is really sweet. If you love a sweet in his own right , grumpy, fiercely protective MMC then you definitely need to give this book a read!
Oh my dog! I loved this book!!! ‘Breed for the Beast’ is a suspenseful steamy guilty pleasure that is so difficult to put down! Helen is being sold at an auction and Lugh buys her, so his sworn enemy can’t. This story is so fast paced. It’s best to hold on and enjoy the ride page-by every sweet delicious page.
Siggy Shade writes delicious guilty pleasures. Her contemporary romance is so elevated, haunting, forbidden, a bit creepy at times, smutty and just a bit crazy. The characters are actually quite deep and three-dimensional. Helen and Lugh work so well together and I just love them. This is by far my favorite Siggy Shade book thus far and I can’t wait for the next one in this universe. There are definite content warnings to watch out for, so please take a look at them before reading this book.
If you like smutty suspense mafia books, I highly recommend this book.
I'm always blown away by Siggy Shade, but this one is my absolute favorite!! I loved the characters!! Although Helen finds herself in a horrible predicament, her strength and intelligence in unwavering. And I LOVED Lugh!! He has a reputation for being a Beast, but I loved the glimpses of vulnerability he unintentionally shows, little by little. He has a big heart and wants love, but doesn't think he deserves it. Helen thought she knew love, but after a horrible twist of betrayal, she's completely jaded and wants revenge. These two together are FIREWORKS!!! I loved every bit of this story! Watching these two fall for each other while serving up a whole heaping lot of revenge was addicting! I couldn't stop reading and was so sad for it to end. Very steamy and such a satisfying ending!!
Helens husband Silas is a POS, there’s no other words for a man who sells his wife at auction, if she doesn’t sell, then her organs will. When Helens eyes land on a man in the crowd begging him to save her from a known murderer he does. The man who saves her is Lugh Conmac, the beast for the Irish Mob, Lugh has conditions for Helen though, she has to mother two sons for him. While she agrees to his terms she is always looking for a way out. When Lugh’s enemy tries to take Helen, Lugh gets injured. Helen decides to stay and help. Their gratitude and respect for each grows and when feelings get involved neither one is looking for an out.
I really enjoyed this one. I tend to like a lot of Siggy’s written. I think everything flowed well. I really liked how Helen & Lugh complimented each other, how Lugh didn’t just want to protect and steam roll her but accepted her as his partner.
