I really enjoyed this second chance romance. I voluntarily chose to review this and I've given it a 5* rating. This is a little older book but it was enjoyable, note the less. The heroine jumped back and forth a bit so I needed to keep reading to find out what was happening. Lots to enjoy in this with animals and children to stir things up. It had a bit of feels too. On to the next.
There was once this boy and this girl. The boy was a nobody. He was a hired hand on a ranch owned by a rich ex-bull fighter who had recently gone through a divorce. This job saved Logan and his mother from being homeless.
Enter the rich daughter of the ranch owner. She is hurt because her parents split up. She loved her father. He was always her constant. She feels so hurt and alone.
They are young. They love each other and one night, the rich daughter and the hired hand lose themselves to passion. Unfortunately, they are caught in bed together by the rich girl's father.
And yep, you guessed it, he sees RED! The daughter beggs her father not to fire the hired hand. She promises to never have anything to do with him ever again.
Time marches on. In fact, it's been eight years since the incident. The ex-bull fighter/rancher dies, leaving the ranch to his daughter. She is forced to come back to the place she made the biggest mistake (or was it that big of a mistake, all things considered?) of her life. She must come face-to-face with the man from her past...Logan.
She must hide the painful truth from him - that she gave their child up for adoption. In fact, she wouldn't have even been able to tell him if he had a son or daughter...
Logan, however, has a secret of his own. It's a huge secret that we aren't supposed to know about until 2/3 of the way through the book, but it's so very obvious that it's easy to figure out in about the first fifty pages...
Actually, I wonder if I had known, had the description above not given the secret away. I really don't think the author intended for the truth to be revealed. I'm a bit disappointed I read the above description before reading the book...I would h ave been able to hang onto that little bit of doubt I had...
This book kept me interested from page 1 to page 250. I loved watching the rekindling love between Logan and Trixi. I enjoyed watching the confrontation with Rad and Pamela. I enjoyed the entire scene when the truth is revealed and how they come together through such a tragic ordeal!
This book is a must read! I couldn't put it down and couldn't keep myself from crying at some points and laughing at others...
The only complaint I have is that Trixie acted pretty stupid if she could't put 8-7 together and see the truth that literally stared her right in the face. I couldn't BELIEVE she didn't know...It all didn't add up in my mind...
But this is an excellent book! I cannot say enough about it. Please read it for yourself.
I liked the thought of the main character "lifting her face to be kissed by the wind." I liked there being given second chances and the way it played out.
