2023 reread: keeping at a 4.5 rating. There hasn't been many books that I literally gasp at the cliffhanger of an ending, but this is one of them. I totally forgot about that illegal cliffhanger. I just love Paige, I relate to her a bit too much, it’s almost scary.

How does Erynn Mangum do it?! Yet another great novel! Very funny and lots of Spiritual Content—that ending though! I’m so glad I have the next book, because cliffhanger! There hasn't been many books that I literally gasp at the cliffhanger of an ending, but this is one of them.

When it comes to modern, applicable to today's life, and filled with laughter... Paige's books have it. This book dealt with a lot of very relevant questions for today: how to react toward an ex-boyfriend who is now wanting to return? How to treat a sister who went off the deep end, but is now back home? And... what to do when a new job is offered you? These are three questions that Paige faces, and I really appreciated how Erynn handled the answers.

At times, the story felt a little jolty (not a word? Oh well) and jumped from one scene to another before I felt like the scene was really complete. I guess it goes with the style? Oh, and for some reason, I really liked it, even though my writer's brain was going, "This is just... randomly written." It's a very interesting style, and I do happen to like it, even if it's a bit more... loosely written?

The Christian content seemed more prominent in this than in book one. Paige did a lot of Bible reading. Sometimes her monologue about it was humorous and very surface. Likely it's just that Paige is a totally different personality than me? The overall message, though, was not watery and weak.

I mentioned Paige's ex-boyfriend. It's kind of interesting because yes, Paige is attracted to Tyler and is dealing with how to let Luke know that she's not really interested in him again... but it fit in with the story and wasn't overly emotional. There were a few mentions of purity or the contrary, but it was tactfully done.

Okay, there was a bit more crude conversation in this than I'm used to. Of course, I'll be the first to say that I was raised in a sheltered home and we just didn't talk about things out in public with friends. It didn't really bother me... I'm just mentioning that it's in there (things like PMS and couple conversations where Paige goes, "Too much information here!") for younger readers.

My Husband: Reading another Mangum book?

Another book that was both funny (I laughed out loud a few times) and had a great book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and, yet again, need the next book as this one ended on a cliffhanger.

I typically don't like books where the a girl is trying to decide between two guys. When I was in my teens and early twenties, I usually tossed those books far from me. However, in this book (as in life) it is often a reflection of the chaos within a person. I thought it was well written. Although, I don't think it was as hard as Pagie made it.

I look forward to the last book.

I always enjoy Erynn’s characters, and this book was no different. They have such funny and witty thoughts, and that makes her heroines a lot of fun to read about.

This book had a more somber tone to it than Erynn’s other books, what with Paige being beyond stressed out yet again. I didn’t like the secondary characters as well as some of the characters from her other books, especially Rick, who I found to be annoying and obnoxious. I liked Tyler a lot though. I also really liked the storyline with Paige’s sister - looking forward to see how that is resolved.

Erynn Mangum’s books are always relatable. I’m glad I found this author.

I read these books so fast I don't really remember the difference between the three!

So I guess I'll write a combined review. These books were so fun! Are they classic level? no way. But are they free of typos? with a linear storyline? relatable characters? and no weird lovey lovey stuff? YOU BET!

I so related to Paige and her busyness and all the things that were going on in her life. And it was so sweet to see her relationship with Tyler grow. Although I don't attend a church as big as Paige, I related to a lot of the church things in here. And I love that the church is such a big part of her life!
My biggest problem with this book: I think I gained wait just reading about all the macchiatos she consumed through this series. It's seriously disturbing.

Ok I love Paige Alder and I love Erynn Mangum. I can’t wait to start book three

2024 reread: Oh, that ending still pushes every button. You know it’s bad when you want to erase a character from the page…
Ok, I really, really love this book. I don’t think there’s any second book lull. Paige is so relatable, and I love her growth! Go away, Luke. Layla and Peter are fun. Preslee is a great, normal addition. Tyler, my guy, my favorite, so amazing. Love this book so much.

Content: in general, there is light romance (cheek kisses, talk about marriage {clean and Godly}, and I think a few not detailed kisses in the next book

5 stars. Best for 16+ for older teen content.

I LOVED this entire series. Each of the books deals in a subtle, yet non-apologetically Christian way about a character issue. In Erynn's typical style, the book was lighthearted, fun, and full of sugar. I gained weight just reading about all the calories, sugar, and caffeine the characters consumed. However, unlike some of her other titles, I felt like this series was a little weightier and dealt with real-life issues for Christian girls - which was perfect for me! This book inspired as well as amused me.

FROM THE BACK COVER: Paige Alder is in a really good place. She’s dating nice guy Tyler. Her boss has offered her a raise. Her walk with God is strong. Life is great—and that’s when things start to change. First, the youth pastor at church keeps asking Paige to work with him full-time. Then her sister shows up newly engaged and wanting to reconnect, even though they haven’t spoken in years. And now former boyfriend Luke has come back into her life. How is Paige supposed to know what the right decisions are?

While Book #1 dealt with learning how to say no, Paige Rewritten dealt with forgiveness. When Paige's estranged sister comes waltzing back into her life, Paige has a choice. She can forgive her sister for all of the past hurts and disappointments. Or she can hold on to bitterness and refuse to give Preslee another chance. This was very timely for me and I gleaned a lot of great thoughts. It was especially great with sorting through forgiveness, discernment, and the hows and whens of giving a second chance.

At the same time, don't expect a deeply theological book. Paige is a Christian. But she is not a theologian. As a ministry wife, there were a few times that I was wishing Paige's understanding of Scripture was just a bit deeper or that she would take it just a bit more seriously. But she was meant to be a growing, maturing, modern Christian. If you are a Bible college graduate or seminary student, just enjoy and don't grasp at straws. It's supposed to be a fun book and it was.

Beside the great Christian content, this book was just fun. Although Paige's addiction to Oreo cookies started to turn my stomach (how can anyone like them THAT much?!), she definitely had her Starbucks priorities right.

I hated Luke. No shame.

I loved Tyler. Enough said.

Highly recommended to teenage girls and women who love a great, fun read. Be prepared to laugh, tear up a bit, and even learn along the way.

When we last saw Paige, her ex-boyfriend and long-lost sister had both suddenly popped back into her life. In this second book in the series, Paige is dealing with broken relationships, juggling her responsibilities, and debating a job change.

While nothing huge happens in the book, Mangum does a fantastic job of telling a fun, witty story with drops of spiritual truth. I love the characters, and the minor characters are just as great as the main ones.

As with her other series, Mangum gives hints of who Paige will end up with but also creates to guys worth rooting for!

I can't wait until the third one comes out....why did this one have to end on a cliffhanger?

Fans of Christian fiction about girls in the 20s figuring out adulthood will enjoy this book.

Ahhhhh! The ending of this book! I really need to buy the last book!

Anyways if you have read my review of the first book in the series this book has exactly the same outcome. It was so wonderful! It may have even be better than the first book. I can't wait to read the other book!
These books are so good! I recommend them to everyone!

Accepting a raise at work should be a no-brainer for Paige Alder, right? And when her "prodigal sister" shows up a genuinely changed person, Paige should be happy about it, yes? And what girl wouldn't be thrilled when her handsome ex-boyfriend shows up a genuinely changed guy, ready to make amends? It seems that as soon as Paige gets on track, everything gets complicated again in Paige Rewritten, a novel by author Erynn Mangum.

Yeah. It still baffles me somewhat that the Paige Alder novels are labeled as young adult fiction, and even categorized as children's books on Amazon. These books are clearly chick-lit with grownup characters in grownup situations. If any "age" had to be put on them, they'd be new adult novels, not YA, and certainly not children's ones.

Anyhow, enough about that. For now.

Another enjoyable installment of the series, this is. It's refreshing to read a story about the prodigal son's brother, since the brother who didn't leave home had issues to deal with, too. (Or, I should probably say the prodigal child's sibling.) I get a kick out of Paige's humorous take on things, and I laughed so hard at one point, I had to step away from the book for a while to cope with the hilarity.

There were a few things about the story that bothered me a bit. I mean, after Paige spent a whole previous novel learning how to tell folks no, if she now has a low-level stalker who's annoying her, how come she doesn't give a solid NO and nip the whole nuisance in the bud? She keeps saying "annunciate" when I'm pretty sure she means "enunciate." There are places where the story seems to idle or stroll around in circles, sharing no important or new information. And though, after reading the first novel, I was prepared for another cliffhanger ending, I'm still not a fan of the cliffhanger. Endings that hang off a cliff just make a book feel incomplete.

Nevertheless, this novel can bring readers right along into the heroine's world, whether or not they've read the first book in the series. And, as before, since I'd decided early that I wanted to read all the Paige Alder novels, the cliffhanger isn't the reason why I'll be moving on to Book Three, which I happily will be.

I possibly didn't like this book AS much as I did the first one, but in some ways it was better. It was funnier. It also was great because it had some really important reminders and lessons from God, like about forgiveness. It makes you want to go read the story of the Prodigal Son and learn about the brother who HAD stayed home, ya know, and how he had some evil in him too, being the "good kid." I laughed out loud at the part about the slippers being able to go on either foot! Hilarious! Loved it! I ran over to my son (who was doing school at home on the couch) and interrupted him because I had to show him ON the page, IN PRINT, HIS phrase that he has recently coined and that he is using all over the place in hopes that it catches on. She says to herself, "What a weirdo." Ah. Ha. Well, our son says, all the original ideas he thinks he has...have already been done. Anyway, carry on, fellow. "What a weirdo" may be an expression, but it's new to us here. I did NOT know that most people actually like their pillow and bed cool instead of warm. Is she right on this? Eek, cool or cold bed and pillow? No, thanks! I too, Paige, am a warm-loving one. Who knew we were in the minority? Paige did, I guess. And she really gets to you and makes you feel convicted, if you need to be, from time to time in this book, so that is great, because that's what we need--to LISTEN and HEAR and OBEY the Holy Spirit. So those parts where she's talking about the seedling in our heart that we have planted, cared for and fed...the one that doesn't need to be there at ALL...that we need to get rid of. She realizes ... "Until at some point, it became such a part of my thoughts and life that I didn't even recognize it for what it was." That totally happens. We have GOT to beware. We need to ask God to show us our sinfulness, to reveal it to us, so we can then confess it to him and ask for His forgiveness so we can be made clean and set right, in relationship to God and in our relationships with others. And of course now I'll have to read the third book because, you know, it did end how it ended.

I definitely laughed just as hard and as often in this book as in the first one. With the cliff-hanger at the end of book one, I expected this to pick up right where the other ended but it does not. We jump back in about two months after the events of Paige Torn.

Preslee and Luke are both back in Paige's life and she is not at all happy about that. I've never been in Paige's exact scenarios, but I did have a situation when I was in middle and high school with a relative I did not like. I've also struggled with how to forgive and what forgiveness really looks like with someone who hurt me. I never realized how much the Prodigal Son story had to say to me until I read Timothy Keller's "The Prodigal God" and learned about the elder son. There is no "perfect Christian" but it's so easy to think that we are one because we "do all the right things". Paige's realizations were relatable and personal.

For the record, I completely agree with Paige regarding Paul's writing style. I also can relate to her hairstyle, though not color. My relationship with my hair has been very love/hate over the years. Also, I too wonder why people (my brothers and grandpa mainly) like to eat food that hurts.

Here's one of the parts I laughed and laughed over: "Did you know it's [football] on like nine nights a week now?" Layla is fairly decent at math so I figure she's just making a point. Either that or I need to tell her that someday and one day are not part of the calendar week.

I'm not a fan of these cliff-hanger endings but thankfully I can move right on to the next story with no delay :) #instantgratification #firstworldproblems

I just finished Paige Rewritten, and at first I thought book 1 was probably going to be better, but as it progressed I realized I couldn’t stop reading it. Erynn Mangum is such a great writer. I’m captivated so effortlessly and find myself smiling and reacting to the story. I think I even laughed out loud a few times, even awwwed at the cute romantic moments. So wholesome and fun.

The faith content is excellent. I’m inspired to be more proactive with serving others as I reflect on Paige’s life.

The cliffhanger is out of this world, and of course I jumped right into book 3 immediately.

Highly recommended series. ❤️

Another Paige Alder book is making me want more! I love Paige so much and I love being able to relate to and learn from her.
The dialogue in this one and in Book 1 is AMAZING! It makes me laugh, smile, tear up... I love the jokes, the familiarity, the way characters bounce off of each other, and how distinguished the characters are in their personality and voice. It makes me wish these people were real so I could meet them in real life.
Can't wait to read Book 3!

Middle book syndrome.
There was so much drama and a healthy dose of angst that I really wasn't interested in.
But someone who has decent tolerance for that will do fine with the plot-thickening drama and angst.

The faith content kept me reading. Well that and holding my breath for Luke to stop being creepy and Tyler to FINALLY make a move!

Great spiritual depth. A huge focus on getting one's attitudes and actions in line with Scripture, even when it's hard. The big issues are forgiveness and following the Lord's leading and learning how to understand Scripture.
The challenge for me was that it wasn't enjoyable. It was very realistic and relatable, but it simply didn't contain features that entertained me. I very much appreciate fiction that has strong spiritual depth, but I also enjoy being entertained in my fiction. It may just be the genre though. This might be called "chick lit", lots of drama over relationships and such. So another reader may give it a 5-star. Just not me.

This book wasn’t nearly as funny as book #1 but Paige’s revelations of forgiveness were something all of us at some point need to learn & usually remind ourselves of. Still, her thoughts mirrored mine so often it was uncanny & her sense of humor still rang through 😊

Well, this book had an ending that made me mad. Which is good.... I feel like most books I read are really predictable...and end how I want them to. This did not end how I wanted it to... so that made me happy

I almost threw my kindle at the wall when I got to the end
(If you think I’m being dramatic read it then decide)
This book was so awesome!
I’m hoping everything is ok in the end because I can not handle one more cliffhanger 😭

I hate Luke with every fiber of being if actually loved her he wouldn’t have been constantly trying to ruin her life!!!!!!
