I finished this book right after my local news network ran a segment about the local tarantulas one could see at the zoo. However, this book also displays a few other species, as well as providing some interesting vocabulary I did not know that these kind of creatures had - such as chelicerae (which is another word for fangs) and urticating hairs.

Even though I did have to go to the doctor for a painful spider-bite when I was in eleventh grade, these animals are interesting, still.

With very vivid photographs and rather simple text, this is a good read for students in grades 2 and above. The book has a table of contents, an index, glossary, and quick captions throughout.
