I read the comic books Wolverine Max #6-10 which focus on Wolverine Max, post Victor Creed Max, heading out to L.A. where a face from the past sets his inner bell warning. Not bad, but like the previous volume I expected even more from a MAX title. 7 out of 12. The whole Max series is compromised by the brilliance of Punisher Max: The Complete Collection, Vol. 1!

Wow, this fucking sucked. I was meh on the first volume, but this solidified this series as genuinely fucking awful. I have no idea where Jason Starr wants to go with this. Some gory action is the only highlight in this dreadful and aimless read.

Okay this was fun and it feels like an idea for a novel/episode of a crime noir tv show but with Wolverine in it. The usual stories are very different from this and I kinda like that its much more crime noir and less comic supervillains but common thugs here.

Logan meets a girl Candy and well flirtations and favors but when his dog gets killed, he goes full John wick after the killers and he tracks down Franky, the guy who has messed up Candy and is behind his dog killing and all that and its cool to see him slicing and dicing his enemies but it sort of becomes frustrating when you don't get a resolution of the big fight with Frankie and also they never really explored Candy after building her up so that felt like a missed opportunity.

The other part being him on the road and meeting an ex-FBI agent who used to hunt Wolverine and now them teaming together and him telling Logan his life story and can feel like loads of pointless exposition but its fun and the tension and the dramatic face off in the end is kinda fun and makes for a fun wolverine story.

Its not by any means a definitive story for Logan but I like the John wick-esque story telling approach here and him fighting regular humans and being brutal and lethal at the same time and also loving the way the art is drawn here and some panels are bloody and some grim dark but thats well worth it.

Awful just painfully bad.

Now a mature Wolverine graphic novel should be an instant win but this is pure tripe. Bad characters, art and story so wow nothing going for it.

If your looking for a mature Wolverine graphic novel to read go buy Old Man Logan the original.

I think I like this story even better than volume 1. Wolverine is still in search of answers after he lost his memories in a plane crash in the first volume.

He makes some aliances in this story. He has a sweet connection with a stray dog after getting to L.A. (the first volume took place mostly in Japan) He gets a protecting gig from this mysterious redhead. Who seems to be hiding as much as Logan is doing. In this story he even uses another alias(es) than he did in Japan.

The story is greatly written. It takes us inside Wolverine's mind and has us asking all the questions with him. We know as little as he does. This makes for a really suspenseful read. It has you asking and guessing what'll happen next the entire time.

Can't wait to see how this story concludes in volume 3 which takes place in Vegas.

I enjoyed this volume as well. This is definitely an alternate universe Wolverine, as the stories about his past are much different than the canon. This is still very much a crime noir story. It almost reads as though the writer had an idea for a novel, and then adapted it to fit Wolverine. That's not a bad thing, however, as we are getting a story a little different from what you would normally get from Wolverine.

This one is set in L.A., and then ends up in Vegas as Logan is still trying to piece his past together. No Sabretooth this time, but some more common thugs. I like the way the story is flowing, although I will admit at times it's confusing. The art isn't great, but it's not bad either.

I'm not sure if this will appeal to every Wolverine fan, but if you like mysteries, crime dramas, AND Wolverine, you'll probably like this one.

Wait...so he lost his memory again?
I thought he got his memory back years ago?
I guess they just can't make up their minds over at Marvel and they decided to just stay with this schtick! It kind of gets old real quick!
Although this seems to be kind of an alternate Wolverine story in some similar universe.
The art in this is a bit rough but the story is decent. It's not a very large scale story which is actually pretty cool since Wolverine doesn't need to be saving the universe all the time. Wolvie sure seems to get played a lot for a guy that's been around as long as he has.
In the beginning of this story he refers to Dog as a girl but then later calls Dog a him! Guess the writers forgot!

This was unpleasant. The Max books can be good and serve an an underserved market but this wasn't. Jason Starr tells a Logan story where he doesn't have much of his memories but he's still Logan, fighting the good fight. The problem here is that the plot is so weak and Punisher-like that it felt generic. There is no intrigue and the antagonists really don't matter. While its good to see Logan cut loose sometimes, this was lame. Added to that was the fact the art was subpar. Overall, this is the definition of forgettable.

This is an interesting, yet a bit underwhelming after Permanent Rage. Logan's trip to America is good but this feels to me like a filler "part 2" of the trilogy. Emotions still feel real, with high stakes, however it overall feels lesser than the last book.

If I could, I think 2.5/5 stars is the best rating for this book.

Several years have passed since I read the first volume so some of the continuity points are fuzzy, but the story holds up on its own well. Most distracting is the artwork which is a bit to stylized and choppy for my taste.

I do enjoy a good Wolverine comic. This comic isn't set in the regular marvel 616 which is good. Not a lot of history and superheroes to mess with. This is Wolverine as it should be. He's not sure who he is. He's getting in trouble with the mob. He's fighting his way out. If you like a noir wolverine this is your comic. It's much grittier than your normal wolverine. He's still an animal, but there's hope for him.

A really good comic for every Wolverine's fan. The graphic are good, the story is quite original, Wolverine is all like him, and all like it should be, and there is a lot of great action. So, a really nice comic book!

More of a moody character piece than an actual story here, but I enjoyed it. Good seedy LA noir atmosphere and a sense of mystery surrounding Logan's situation help keep things going, but really nothing much happens here plot-wise.

The inner dialogue was pretty trite at times, though the plot was engaging enough.
