Shattered

Rate this book
Two screams rang out on the still morning air, shattering the middle class complacency.
Shannon Clarke lay dying in the peaceful affluence of Kinsale Bay. She was unconscious to the drama surrounding her. Her voice, now dulled and inanimate, cried out for the truth.

A major police search began for the burglar that her husband, Graham, was convinced had murdered her. However, it quickly became clear that there was no burglar, and the finger of suspicion pointed squarely at him. Was her death a tragic, accidental drowning or a meticulously calculated murder?

The case took on an extra dimension when it was revealed that he had been having an affair. As the police and media spotlights hone in, the truth is forced from the shadows. The web of lies which had been so intricately woven starts to unravel.
Was he really the “wouldn't hurt a fly” character people described, or a cold-blooded wife killer? Friends and family begin to wonder how well they really know the “perfect husband” which he flawlessly portrayed.

Shannon's mother was convinced that he had killed her beautiful daughter. However, this was only the beginning of her nightmare. The revelation of just how much she was despised, and the unfolding of the ingenious plan to kill her was truly heartbreaking.
Murderers kill more than their victims, but some bonds survive even death...

I received a free download of "Shattered" by Joanne Clancy, to read on my Kindle, in exchange for an honest review.

Two screams rang out, in the middle class area of Kinsale, an Irish coastal town. on June 4, 2008.Shannon Clarke, the mother of two young children, lay dying.

There was a police search going on for the burglar that her husband, Graham, was convinced had murdered her. But it soon became apparent that there was no burglar, but that Graham had murdered her.Was her death an accidental drowning or murder?

Shannon had her whole life ahead of her. She was a loving mother, and a very proud and private person. Why would anyone want her dead? She had so much to offer.

The case then takes on a twist, when we learn that Graham, was having an affair with Jasmine Doyle, his physiotherapist. Was Graham "the perfect husband" or was he just a "good actor"?. Time will tell.

Shannon's mother, Joyce, was convinced that Graham had killed her daughter. After Shannon's death, Graham had exhibited strange behaviour, unemotional by his wife's death. He was trying to throw suspicion on everyone. For this reason, Joyce became the voice of Shannon, to ensure justice was served.

This case was almost completely based on circumstantial evidence, but Graham had motive and opportunity to murder his wife. There was lack of any unknown DNA at the scene, and no one else was on the beach at the time.

This fast paced mystery novel has all the elements of a best seller, from the deceit and lies, manipulative and controlling psychological abuse to the emotional and heart-wrenching anguish.

Joyce had to pick up the pieces of her "Shattered Life"...but she would never be the same.

Amazing! This book starts with the drama and crime unfolding from within the first chapter! And doesn't stop as the author makes you relate to the mother at the loss of her child, especially since she is the one who found the body....

Graham and Shannon Clark have the sought-after happily ever after marriage according to friends and family, but did they really? When murder happens all bets are out the window. Did the happy couple put on an amazing act of being happy while at home having a verbally abusive husband belittle and degrade you as a person and a parent? Will he get away with what he's done? Or will justice prevail?

This book was another great book from Joanne! Ready for the next books!

This intriguing and compelling book is about the tragic death of a mother of two in a beautiful part of Ireland, which wouldn't normally expect to hear two screams ringing out to disturb a pleasant morning as a brave woman fights for her life until her last dying breath. But now Shannon is dead and the husband Graham reckons it must have been a burglar who was responsible for ending her life, but with no evidence to support his theory then the suspicions soon fall firmly on his shoulders. It is hard to believe for those who know and love him that he could do such a thing, even the victim’s mother can’t understand or comprehend that her son-in-law could commit such a heinous crime against her daughter, who loved him dearly. But he is acting strangely and the truth will out, when it gets to court as we learn stuff about their private lives that wouldn't have come to light otherwise. The title of this book is very apt, because it is shattering to read the pain after the facts are revealed and what it does to a family to go through such a terrible ordeal. As this accomplished thriller grabs your attention right from the get-go and won’t let go until you read the final page and even then you’re still thinking about it afterwards, because you went on such a journey of emotions to get that far into it that you actually felt a mother’s anguish yourself. The story not only takes you inside the characters heads but it gets into yours as well. It is stylishly written and the pacing is excellent, for it never fails to fascinate and inform and answer all the burning questions. Will peace and normality ever be restored to their lives or will it be shattered forever?

I am obliged to say that I received this book as a giveaway and below is my honest opinion about this book.
The first few pages reveal who is the killer and how he killed his wife. I didn't know what to expect from this book because I thought that the story is over since we already know who the killer is and what is his motive. But as I read through the pages it reveals what kind of a monster he is and how he is totally unaffected from what he has done. When reading through the pages I just wanted to pull him out of the book and kick him. The phase Shannon’s mother goes through is heart breaking. On the whole this is a good read.

A book that tugs at your heart strings. When you start reading you are in the shoes if the wife, and then you are in the husbands shoes and fInally the mother in laws shoes. That's where the story really began for me. I got sucked in to the feelings Mom from her shock to her grief then to her anger. Such a great story! Highly recommend!
