Brylee Branson’s best friend and boyfriend have fallen victim to a horrible curse that haunts her home. With the witches who cast it dead she has no choice but to rely on the ghosts inside the Brown house to help her find a cure. But time is not on her side, because Lynley's illness is spreading rapidly.
Confused and scared, seventeen-year-old Brylee must confront a new ghost in the house she has never spoken to before. This spirit is not a Brown relative and makes no promises to help them … unless she can re-unite her with a loved one.
The fate of those she loves now rests on her. Can Brylee put the pieces of this puzzle together in time to save them? Or will the Brown house claim another victim?
The Visitor’s Series continues to scare and entice its readers with this gripping second book.

What a flippin amazing book! There were so many edge of your seat and scary moments woven together by the amazing and talented word whisperer Christy Sloat. Christy gave me the honor of being a beta reader for her it was an honor and a privilege to read this book. It pulled you into the story and never let you go. Brylee's character was so strong of heart and she never let herself be shaken by the spirits. She had a strong resolve and is such an awesome leading lady. I wish this series could be made into a movie. It's just the right amounts of action, romance, and HOLY C**P moments! Christy is such a talented wordsmith weaving a story in earnest and seamlessly going from one book to the next without skipping a beat. This is a book I would read over and over again! I can't wait for the next one. Its an amazing story series I have come to love and it makes me want more more and more. Her characters are so beautifully painted and crafted and designed to make you love them. Even the names are wonderful and describe the characters to a tee. Christy is a truly gifted writer and I will be her fan for always and her friend forever.
First let me say that if you are new to The Visitor's Series, read The Brown House first. You need the history before picking up this one. The Crimson Key is the second installment in The Visitor's Series. It picks up right where we ended in The Brown House. Brylee is beside herself that her boyfriend, Ephraim and his sister Lynley, also Brylee's best friend, are both now sickened by The Brown House and the curse put there by the Barclay witches. Brylee is at her wits end trying to get answers from the ghosts in her home as to how to break the curse. Unfortunately Violet and the other s are not much help. Then by accident Brylee meets Hala on the Boardwalk. Hala explains to her that she is a medium and can help ghosts cross over. Hala is willing to help her to a degree but will not go to the Brown House and of course wants something in return. Through Hala's grandmother's journal, Brylee learns more about the curse, the Barclay sisters and their cult following. As if she doesnt have enough going on Brylee is watching her best friend get sicker and weaker by the day from the curse, her boyfriend is graduating and hearing voices , and her parents want to move back to California. This book reels you in from page one. I could not put it down . If you are like me and The Brown House left you with a lot of questions and you weren't quite sure you wanted to read the next installment, I urge you to pick up The Crimson Key. I loved the second installment. A definite page turner. The next installment The White Door is coming out in February 2014 and I am super excited. Also, if you like the character of Kayla from this series check out her story in the novella, Unfound.
I love returning to a series, I dont get to do that very often these days so when I do its exciting! Like returning to an old friend after a long time apart and you just pick up right where you left off.
Brylee is still dealing with her part in the Ephraim and Lynley curse. It weighs pretty heavily on her. They dont blame her but of course she blames herself. I really thought Brylee grew as a character in this book. Which was good because there was a way less of Ephraim in this book (sad I know). So how is she dealing with it you ask? Well by looking for a way to end it of course. She also begins getting more involved with and learning more about her abilities. Which I totally totally loved.
Things are changing for Ephraim and Lynley. Ephraim tries to hide it from Brylee and for the most part he does a great job of that. Lynley however withdraws and causes Brylee to worry so much more. Its basically a race against the clock to save her. In this book are some returning favorites. But also some new ones! Theres a super creepy new ghost holy smokes some of those scenes gave me chills!
I really truly and honestly believe this is Sloat's best work yet! The Crimson Key is now a new favorite of mine. The creepy factor was multiplied and done MASTERFULLY!
I was given this book in exchange for a honest unbiased review~~ The Crimson Key by Christy Sloat
WOW this author just has me speechless especially how this book ended was not expecting the twists and turns that went in the book! WOW OH WOW WHAT A BOOK!! The characters are just as amazing in this book as the first one and I love the new characters that came to be in this book! It is so hard to say much without giving it away! I can just say that this author knocked my socks off and had me sleeping with my light on last night due to somethings that where in this book. I love this series and can't wait to read The White Door!!!! Keep up the amazing work and the detail! I found a new amazing series that I will definitely read over and over!
This book starts practically where The Brown House left off. Lynley, Bry, and Ephraim are trying with everything to get out of the curse that the Brown's suffered from that the Barclay witches put on them. Will Bry save the two people she loves the most or is she doomed from the started? This is an epic sequel to the Brown House that will have you longing and wishing the White Door would be here sooner!!!
10*s. I received an eARC copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I absolutely fell in love with the characters in the first book, The Brown House, but this book makes me love these characters even more!! This book is very well written and very fast paced!!! I was hooked from beginning to end with the suspense and paranormal activity!!! This author really know how to capture and intrigue her readers into falling in and feeling like part of the story. The author is extremely good at describing her scenes in detail enough to keep you enthralled, yet not too much to bore you!!! This is a MUST read YA that adults will love to read also and will keep you begging for more!!! I highly recommend this series!! Thank you, Christy Sloat, for another amazingly awesome read!!!
pre-read and can't wait to have the final in my hands!!!! This book is written with such talent, devotion to the characters, and the scenes, and again will make you LOVE The Brown House, and The Visitors Series!!!! There are many unexpected situations, and some new things to make you...scream! Fan-freaking tactic! 5 stars+
First let me show you the house I was reading about.
**WTC**
But I put on my big panties once again and continue on.
Good Grief, Christy Sloat has did it to me again! This book was awesome, scary and definitely gave me the hebie gebies! Sometimes the most scariest moments are the ones leading up to the big bang. Let me start off this review by telling you I read The Brown House and in my review told everyone what a big chicken I was right! Where here I am again shaking from creepiness.
It is one thing to watch a scary movie on the TV, at least then you can put a pillow over your eyes till the scary part is over, but it's a whole other story when you are sitting there reading it. When a author can place fear in you with just using words, that author is very gifted. This book was done with a punch. Praise for the Author!
So this is the way I continued to read this book.
I truly loved this book. It was able to pick up where the Brown house left off perfectly and resume with more twist, turns, mystery, secrets and surprises. I love the way this authors uses passion in her characters, which makes them even stronger. In this book we get new characters, which I am not telling you about. But the flippin ending HOLY SMOKES.
Now if you want to find out if Brylee beats the evil force in her house, or removes the curse from Lynley, Ephraim and the house. You know what I am going to say....read this book.
Or if you want a book to make you stay in the bed the rest of the night like this -------------------->
MY REVIEW I received this book via Girls Heart Books Tours in exchange for my honest review and participation in this great blog tour! I read Bk #1 The Brown House by Christy Sloat sometimes ago, and it was a leap from the usual genres I read as it has a horror edge to it. I can imagine these books being made into horror/suspense films or TV shows. It was Christy that gave me the first book my review for it is here. Christy had also contacted me regarding reading the book so I was definitely going to read this book! The cover of this book is quite dark which really does suit the book as in places that too is very dark and scary. the cover features the "key" which is an important part in the book. Overall I like the cover and think I would pick it up in a book store to learn more about it. I think the font of the title and author name etc is good and I like the way it is "aged" as some of the documents written about in the book are very old too. So now what can I say about the book without giving too much away regarding the book? Even though I'd say that horror would be very near the bottom list of reading preferences I have really loved this series of books. This second books sort of picks up more or less straight where Book one left off. The curse is really taking hold onto Lynley and Ephraim. Lyn is losing weight and looks really ill, it almost seems like she is taking the bulk of the curse upon herself and slowly dying in front of their eyes. Ephraim and Lynley's mother Carole is also acting strangley, she's never been overly friendly with Brylee but now she seems totally hostile towards her. Brylee is trying to keep her head and life together despite being able to see and speak to dead people! Things seem to have settled in the house a little and then a "new" ghost turns up. Brylee also feels the atmosphere in the house changing there's feels to be a more scary dangerous feel in the house now. Whilst on a shopping trip a woman grabs hold of Brylee and declares that she know Brylee is a "dead talker". This woman called Hala turns out to be just what Brylee is in need of, a source of knowledge and maybe some help with the curse? Brylee also does some research in the library and meets another ghost there. Brylee is seeing more and more ghosts as the days go on, she finds herself promising to help them "pass over" once she has saved Lynn and Ephraim. But can she save Lynley and Ephraim. How can she get access to the Barclay sisters when they are dead? There are lots of puzzles and unanswered questions that Brylee has to deal with to help her friends. Brylee's parents even take her away to Califormia for her birthday, I think they are hoping a little distance will maybe put an end to her relationship with Ephraim or cool it down a little. But Brylee can't escape the ghosts. the one thing Brylee is looking forward to and hoping for is that she may get to see Ethan again. His "ghost" has been texting her but will she get to see him and if she does can she help him pass over? How will she cope seeing his parents again as her parents have organised a "family" dinner with them? I could really go on and on about this book. I do have to say I am pleasantly surprised that I am enjoying a book with a horror edge to it. I admit it has some "hold your breath" moments as well as some "nail biting bits". If it were a movie you'd be hiding behind the cushions!! So did I enjoy the book? I loved it! Christy is slowly converting me to opening up to books with a horror edge to them. Would I recommend the book? Yes, it would suit all those who love ghosts, horror, suspense and a good mystery too. Would I read a Bk#3? Yes please when can I have it to read?! Would I read other books by Christy Sloat? Yes I intend to.
The Crimson Key starts some three weeks from where The Brown House left off. The Brown's curse has been transferred to the Mayhew's with Lynley and Ephraim being it's next targets. Brylee is dealing with the guilt of having brought that upon them and is determined to find a cure. Now, however, there is more at stake than her losing Ephraim with the curse severely affecting Lynley and there seems to be more evil looming over their lives...
The Crimson Key was an amazing continuation to The Brown House. It was suspenseful, creepy, unexpected and managed to progress the story while still keeping in tune with everything I loved so much in book one. So first, I actually want to talk about the creepy factor. I have to once again point out that I'm a total scary cat and while I was reading this- at first, I was all like 'I can handle this, it's not so bad'. Then as the story progresses Sloan starts turning up the creepiness. Seriously, as in me having to continuously take breaks from reading because I feared my heart wouldn't be able to take much more while simultaneously turning all the lights in the house on.
Also, I gotta say with all of this, there was a point were Sloan started hinting at something. Have you ever read a book where you know a "plot twist" is coming but the author spells it out a little to well and when you finally happen upon the reveal no part of it is a surprise and your just exasperated that it took them so long to get to it? Well at some point I started to feel that way. Like 'look Sloan, I know what you're leading up to just get to it!' but she definitely had other plans. That reveal came about and I literally had my jaw drop. Seriously, as much as I swore I knew what was going to happen, it was completely unexpected. Not at all what I thought or expected.
In reading The Brown House I fell in love with the characters and the strong theme of love in all of it's shapes and forms. Well, as I read this novel I fell in love wih the characters once again. Especially with Brylee- her strength, determination, courage and just how hard she loves. And the love in this book was pretty beautiful. I love Sloan's portrayal of relationships and their dynamics.
OK, since I feel like I'm blabbing, I'll cut it short. I would recommend this series to anyone but this novel does well as a stand alone. Enough background to catch up a new reader to the series and in depth enough about it's characters, settings and background that you get to know and appreciate them as if for the first time in this book. (Although if you can, definitely pick up The Brown House it's amazing!) The Crimson Key will take you from happiness to sadness, from the lightness you would expect from any romance novel to the fear of some seriously scary scenes. It is definitely a great read that in essence turns out to be a pretty quick read. I mean you will run through the book. It's just too good to put down.

Brylee is finally at peace with moving from California to New Jersey and now there is this curse hanging over her head. Brylee's boyfriend and best friend are both being affected by this curse from her house. If she can't find a way to break the curse that is claiming them slowly but surely, then she will lose them both forever from their physical selves. They will be dead, but stuck as ghosts in her house all because she didn't listen when she was told she had to open that secret door and no one else. Now her two best friends may end up paying the ultimate price for her not listening to detailed directions. Ephraim is showing signs of the curse taking him over slowly, but for some reason Lyn is falling victim to the curse fast and doesn't seem to have much time left. Can Brylee figure out how to stop the curse before it claims the lives of those she loves? What is the key here and how can Brylee not figure it out faster? What is she missing? Can an old woman from the Boardwalk help her solve this curse mystery and in time? Can Brylee use her unique gift of being able to see and talk to ghosts in her favor this time? What will she do if she can't save them?
Watching Brylee, Ephraim, and Lyn develop even more as characters in this second book of the series was amazing. Brylee starts to grow into the woman she now knows she wants to and needs to be. Ephraim grows into his man of the house role and his role as a loving caring boyfriend to Brylee. Lyn has a lot going on and develops a lot in her character too. I love these characters along with the more minor ones too, like Brylee's parents, grandmother, Ethan, and more. They are developed in such a way that they really seem like real people to me while reading. Once again this author grabbed me by the hair and forced me to read on and on in this book until I was finished with it. I just couldn't put it down! The plot has a few side shoots off of the main one, but they add so much to the book. I was again awed by the details in the writing and the way I actually got the heebie jeebies as I read this book, especially in the darkness as I read late into the night on my iPod. I became Brylee in a way as I read so intently and with so much focus. I loved how this book played out. It was a bit more emotional than the first one, but in a way that just made the book that much better for me. To say I loved every part and aspect of this book would be very accurate. The ending was a better fitting for me, personally as a reader, too. It had the ending of a series book...one that makes you want to read on to see what really happens, but not one that makes you frustrated about how it ends. There was nothing I didn't like in this book, but there were parts that I never in a million years saw coming that shocked me. This is a great continuation to the series! It is a must read by all mystery and ghost lovers!
I have been patiently waiting for the Crimson Key to be released. I fell in love with The Brown House (even though it was quite spooky!), and just had to know what happened next. I would have finished this book in 1 day had my Kindle battery not decide it needed charging (always the worst timing!). I was not disappointed in the least with the second installment of this series.
Brylee is now faced with finding the cure to the curse her boyfriend, Ephraim, and his sister, Lynley, are under. Time is not on her side, as the effects of the curse are becoming more apparent, especially with Lynley. The witches who are responsible for this curse are dead, but yet they hold the key to saving her friends. Who can she trust in this voyage?
Brylee takes Lynley on a shopping trip, to get her out of the house, and her mind off of what is going on, and meets one person who may know just what needs to be done to break the curse after all. A trip to the library also has her making a new friend, but what can she offer?
She then is forced on a two week vacation back to California with her parents to visit her family. This is not the best timing, and she soon realizes it is because her parents want to move back there; just after Brylee has finally found a place she wants to call home- Jersey. However, the trip was not a total waste. Even though she knew she wanted to be back on the East Coast- she has lives to save! She was able to help Ethan and his family move on from their tragedy.
Just when I thought “ah, I know what is going to happen”, I was proven wrong. Evil comes in all shapes and sizes, and you never really know every one’s true intentions. Not all ghosts are bad or there to harm you, and not all living individuals are good.
I eagerly await the next installment, and hope to read more about Brylee’s new-found capabilities as a “ghost whisperer”. There are many souls that need help to pass over. Is she the one that can help them?
The Crimson Key, book two in Christy Sloat's The Visitor's Series, picks up where book one left off. Readers are immediately reminded of the traumatic dramas from the end of book one and the fate of the characters. All of this is provided with swiftness and serves as useful reminders to us all. It also immediately built up the expectation that I would soon be breaking out into a sweat by the spookiness that was about to unfold. And unfold it did.
Yet again, the author has created an impressive tale that weaves cleverly around the fabulous main character, Brylee. The plot develops at a steady pace and then breaks out into mighty peaks of tension. Yep, the spooky parts! The author's control and manipulation of language and visual descriptions made it impossible not to become completely immersed in the story unravelling. I was with Brylee every step of the way, feeling her frustrations, her anxieties and her turmoil of emotions and deep seated sense of responsibility.
For a young character, Brylee is so very easy to identify with, to follow. The author managed to develop her character in new and interesting ways and continued to allow her to grow and push forward. It's so important in a series that we see a character's growth, especially when the protagonist is a teenager.
Christy Sloat has successfully produced a strong book two. One that easy is in par with book one. If you are looking for a series filled with tension, drama, romance and a shed load of goosebumps, then The Visitor's Series is definitely a buy-don't-think read.
Disclosure: This book was provided by the author in exchange for an HONEST and not necessarily positive review.
The chills and thrills keep coming in book 2 of The Visitor’s Series. The Crimson Key is packed full of suspense and thrills as Brylee once again finds herself thrust into a life she never asked for. Brylee use to think being uprooted from her Cali home and forced clear across the country to live on the east coast in a creepy old house was her biggest problem, little did she know she had a gift. Gift might be the wrong word… perhaps curse would be more appropriate. The dead like to talk to her, whether she wants to listen or not. Yet poor Brylee’s life gets more complicated still. Her best friend and boyfriend are cursed and its all her fault. While her biggest problem should be finals, Brylee is caught in a high stakes race against time and if she can’t find a way to break the curse, someone’s going to die. The life of her closest friend or the boy she loves will end and the guilt may consume her alive. Brylee’s already lost one boy to tragedy and her heart can’t with stand loosing another, but will the house let anyone live? Can curses cast by the blackest magic be broken? The great cast of characters (both living, dead, and somewhere in between) spins a haunting tale that will leave you awake and afraid till morning light. The house and it’s history spins a tale that leaves the reader feeling that the home is a living, breathing, sinister character all on its own. The characters’ are left helplessly bound to it’s dark past and bleak future. Will anyone escape alive?
This book picks up where the last one ended, Brylee is searching for the answers to cure her best friend Lyn and her boyfriend Ephraim of the curse the brown house has given them. The search for answers is going slowly, the frustrations building as each day brings more evil around. Lyn is getting sick faster than Ephraim, they are in a race against time now. As Lyn’s mom starts pulling her away from Brylee it makes things even harder to handle. The answers they have found are not promising, it seems that all avenues are drying up. Will they find what they need in time? Will Brylee lose that which is most important to her? To make matters much worse her dad gets a job in California and they want to move back. What more can happen; you have to read it to believe it! Oh boy, book two is even better than the first, it kept me on the edge of my seat. My mind was totally immersed in this book, I think I shared every emotion that the characters had. Christy Sloat has proven again she has what it takes to hold her audience! The ending…..there is no words to say. I simply love, love, love this series! I find that this series has entered into my favorite list, I don’t see it leaving there either lol. Thanks Christy for giving me your book to read and review, I am in awe. I give this book 5 stars.
This is the second book in the The Brown House series. At the end of the first, a curse had fallen on Ephraim and Lynley, Crimson Key starts with the curse getting stronger. The only person who can stop it, and the person who is to blame for it, is Brylee. To her they are dying right before her eyes as the physical changes take place. Racked with guilt she does all she can to help but with the witches who cast the curse dead, Brylee has no choice but to call on the ghosts and ask for help. She hopes they will before more lives are lost or ruined by the curse of the Brown House.
Although the idea behind this series is a really good one, for me the execution of the plot is poor. The author fails to use imagery to evoke the feeling of fear into the reader that we expect from the synopsis. I was wishing for more description and creative writing to build mood and atmosphere, I wanted to be worried about what was about to happen, but anticipatory fear was missing altogether.
Although, hand over heart, I cannot recommend this to avid horror readers because I feel that there is a lack in depth and atmosphere to produce really scary moments, I am sure it would appeal to those seeking drama with a ghostly edge.
Once again Christy Sloat has left me with keeping my night light on before I go to bed. Brylee Branson is a ghost talker, a medium in her own right who wants nothing more than to help those restless spirits who need to pass over. Although there are some ghosts she wishes would have passed over a long time ago, they remain giving her and those she cares about the most nothing but trouble and heartache. Curses from beyond that will have life changing effects not only on her best friend but the love of her life as well. Most importantly, will she have the time to learn all she needs to know to save the one person that she keeps putting on the backburner? That would be Brylee herself. This is another "MUST READ" for teens and adults alike. I'm looking forward to the next installment of The Visitor's Series: The White Door!
The Crimson Key is the sequel to The Brown House and it starts off right after the ending of The Brown House. Brylee is trying to find a way to end the curse that is affecting Ephraim, her boyfriend, and Lynley, her best friend and Ephraim's sister. Just like The Brown House, this story had some creepy moments. Some of the interactions that Brylee has with the ghosts are downright scary. And the strange things that are happening to Lynley are definitely weird and scary. The story also had some funny scenes and some sad and emotional scenes. I really liked how Ms. Sloat was able to blend a ghost story & a love story together and also throw in witches, a cult, and family drama but still maintain a sense of realism. The plot was interesting and had a few twists. I love this series and can't wait to read the next book.
Christy Sloat The Crimson Key The Visitor's Series #2
It had been a while since I read The Brown House, but within the first few pages I was right back in the story, completely engrossed. It picks up right from where book 1 finished, and felt like I had never stopped reading the story. I just love this series, it’s paranormal YA at its best. The characters all have a strong place in the story, and there is so much emotion between them all that you can easily feel everything they are going through. With a few shocking twists and turns, I just couldn’t stop reading. The author has taken the series up a level, and I can’t wait to see what is in store next.
I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
After reading The Brown House I just had to know what Chrisy Sloat had written in her next book, The Crimson Key. There was no turning back for me as fast as I devoured book one. I just could not shake the feeling that someone or something was watching me as I kept turning the pages in my own home. ::creepy::
The Crimson Key is simply, a key to open and unlock the curse of The Brown House so that Brylee can save her friends. No one knows what is to happen, or what could happen if the curse wins and Brylee fails. She must seek spirits of the house, known and unknown to her in order to find the key to unlock the curse before her friends become victims. While Lynley's illness rapidly spreads, will Brylee make it in time to save her friends?
Christy Sloat has created another fantastic story! The Crimson Key picks up where The Brown House left off. Brylee is trying to find a a way to break the curse that has been placed on her best friend Lyn and her boyfriend Emphraim. As if that isn't enough the curse seems to be taking hold of Lyn very fast and new host are showing up in the house making even more questions for Brylee you just don't know if she will ever find the Barclay witches in time or if she really wants to if she does. I could not stop reading once I started and the ending broke my heart, but This is a must read for anyone that loves a book that can give you the creeps, make you laugh and make you cry. Very well done Christy!
As with the first book in this series "The Brown House" i pulled another all nighter, i couldn't put it down. Again Brylee's strengths in this one are stronger and she goes through a lot emotionally. She put's her foot down to try and save the one she loves and by doing so loses someone just as important. Christy Sloat nails the head on the nail with this series in a major way. Captivating, easy to read, wonderful twists and turns. Cannot wait for Book Three ... had me on the edge of my "seat" the whole time.
Omg this book was amazing. I read it in one day. Once I started I couldnt put it down. Brylee is such a strong charator. She has so much to deal with. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book. I held my breath waiting to see what would happen next. I cryed and cheered and laughed while reading this book. I can't wait to read the next one.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, The Brown House and was highly anticipating this book. I was pleasantly surprised that this book was even better than the first! (Which is rare in a trilogy/series.) I am very happy with the direction that the author has taken the characters and the plot.
The Crimson Key starts off right where The Brown House left off. Of course, I won’t spoil it for you. If you haven’t read The Brown House yet, please read that one first. You will need to in order to get the full history/backstory.
The stakes are much higher in this book with a much darker feel. Shit is really getting real and time is of the essence in this second installment of The Visitor’s Series; The Crimson Key. The cast of characters are just fabulous! Not only do you have Brylee and the gang but a few spine-chilling villains too!
Of course I cannot forget Brylee & Ephraim's romance! While I wouldn’t categorize this book as a romance, it’s definitely an important part of the story here. My heart goes out to Ephraim and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for these two love birds in the next book!
Last but not least, the plot. Oh the glorious, plot twisty, fast-paced writing! How I adore a fast moving plot and this one has it. The plot twist will have you rushing to devour the next book in this series!
Holy crap, I was not prepared for the ending of this book!! Another great installment in this series. I was sure that by book 2 I'd be ready for the creepiness and I thought I had it figured out how things would go...but nope. I was thrown for a loop at least twice in this book if not more. I love these characters, I love the creepy ambiance of the story. I could never live in a house like the Brown House, but I'm in awe of Brylee's courage. I can't sleep in a pitch black room let alone a house I knew had several ghosts in it. I've already downloaded book 3 and started it. I don't want this series to end, I love the characters too much, but I have to see what happens next!
This is a fantastic story!! The characters feel real to me. There is joy and heart ache both, and the story stops at a great place! I can't wait for the next one!!
This is the second book in this series and is just as good as the first. Recommend you read the first in order to follow Brylee and her friends in this one. The story flows perfectly. Sitting on the edge wanting to know what happens next type of thrill.
