Rate this book
Included in this 3-book box set:

BOOK 1: WATCH HER DIE
Who murdered Greta Ashton-Jones? This beautiful married woman is found naked, strangled and tied to her bed. It’s not the straightforward ‘domestic’ murder Detective Inspector Temple has been led to believe. Someone was watching Grace and taking pictures of her before and after she died. Temple must find Grace’s killer fast — but he soon has trouble of his own.

BOOK 2: DEAD OF NIGHT
Fourteen-year-old local girl China Lewis is reported missing by her friend Amy. Detective Inspector Temple is tasked to find her. The more he discovers about China, the greater the danger he knows she is in. But it seems he’s the only one who cares. Then two more girls go missing. Is Temple hunting a serial killer?

BOOK 3: LEFT FOR DEAD
An elderly man is savagely beaten in his own home. Left for dead, the World War II veteran crawls to the phone to call for help . . . Eighteen months later, Guy Newland is summoned to a meeting in a hotel in Egypt. He’s told his DNA has been found, linking him to a historic crime. Newland knew this day would come. He’s been plagued by a woman’s face in his nightmares for the past thirty-five years . . . Four months later, two young men are found in a car in the woods, each with a gunshot wound to the head. Detective Inspector Temple must pull the threads together and find out what links these shocking crimes.

i have just had a serious whinge re Pauline Rowson and her Andy Horton books and low and behold DI Temple is simply a repeat. Plots are very good, writing is fine but again we have at least 4 corrupt, lazy. gossipers and generally horrible senior police officers, all intent if destroying Temple, the DI who does all the work, solves the crimes while the corrupt officers take the credit. I guess this is another author I will not read again. It is interesting that in some of the 5 star review I have read the majority of reviewers does not mention this very important point.

I do not review the stories very often. I just let potential readers get my gist of the book. Having said that everyone on here has almost certainly read the books anyway. I read all 4 books including Andy Horth #13 in 4 days. I love the ends, but there are rarely good ones. You are left hanging to see if ACC Harkus etc will meet his doom on #4. I'm sure he won't. In the books I have read he gets promoted each book!!! Will it be CC Harkus next time. Seriously 5 stars "couldn't put it down, read till 4 am". Oh well.

I have quite a few of these Mystery books now and I and not about to repeat parrot fashion the story you read behind it in the book information like many people do. I found the stories really did keep my interest and kept me wanting to read on to see what happened next. I never managed to guess who the perpetrator was until it started unfolding at the end. The one thing I could have done with out was reading about his complicated home life, do people really get themselves in that type of predicament, why can't we have some one with a normal relationship and marriage or do people get divorced after a few years. I'm now wondering if there are more books about Temple, the ending seemed unfinished.
I still do not understand why box sets only count as one on Goodreads

A good read

Detective Temple grows on you! In the first book you find out his back story, which you learn more about with each book. In the end you find out more, dominating the last book. It works and works well. I found myself having to look back to the very beginning of the first book, to confirm what I thought was true! It makes you use your brain and remember facts all the way through the three books.

They are well written, very good detective stories. That are in themselves exciting, but they also have the back story of Detective Temple running parallel, giving them just that little notch up on other detective stories.

What a ride!

Always a twist and turn. So glad Munt and King are safely locked up for a long time. Not sure Temple will be satisfied when he really thinks about his visit to the prison where his mother's killer is located. Will there be more Temple in future?

He’s alone in his quest for the truth…

Detective Temple has plenty of problems- work problems, family problems, but never any problems to find the truth in any kind of investigation. He takes everyone & everything very seriously. He’s been set up & put up by many of his superiors- but his search for the truth & murder never fails.

Now that I've read all 3 books, I'd like more in this series. I was hooked.
It took me a while to adjust as I've just come off reading 23 of Blue Moon Mysteries with the leading character named Tempest...with an assistant named Jane/James. I was getting confused at first but then just kept finding parallels in the stories...good guy bad cop.
All in all it was a series that kept me readinh.

I read the boxed set in this series -I found her writing style informative -however there is a lot of jumping about between characters that makes it difficult to keep things straight. The political machinations behind the scenes in the police hierarchy also got to be a tad confusing, and took away from the straightforward storytelling at times--. An overall okay read

A series that I really liked

I liked this series, it was fast paced, but with enough details to keep it interesting! The characters were believable, and I felt that I was right there with them. I would like t read more from this Deborah Lucy!

Brilliant set of three.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a good who dun it mystery. Well written. Believable characters. Gut wrenching stories. Criminal stuff that's going on now. Not for the feint hearted. Would read more if more Temple produced.

EXCELLENT BUT….

This was an excellent read. I’m glad I pushed through. The first couple of chapters in each of these books were like they didn’t belong. I’m glad I continued to read because it was very well written after that.

great read

More twists and turns than you can imagine, it seems Temple couldn’t keep it in his pants and paid the price.

Great series

Excellent stories that run through the 3 books with a very intriguing undercurrents.
The final chapter left enough untold to write another book👏
Let's hope so😁😁

Enjoyed the series, (1-3) BUT my old brain did struggle to keep on top of all the names/people, from time to time.

Cheers

The first book I didn’t really enjoy, it seemed to be all over the place. However, I thought I would give book 2 a read and I really got into it.
Seems to me the that DI Temple really needed to learn how to stop sleeping around.
I really got into the story and by book 3 I couldn’t put it down. The twists and turns where he seemed to be fighting to keep his job, were unbelievable.
My problem now is I can’t find the follow on books.

The Complete Detective Temple Mysteries BOOKS 1–3 by Deborah Lucy.

My thoughts:
The stories are set in the UK. Detective Temple's home/personal life is "interesting" to say the least. Check the website for amazon and read a sample before you purchase the boxset to get an idea if you like the writing style of the author. A nice read, the mystery/crime aspect is well done, same sort of formula that a lot of detective stories follow.
