There’s a serial killer on the loose. And Lexy Baker’s grandmother, Nans, could be the next victim.
The bodies are piling up at the Brook Ridge Falls Retirement Center. Healthy people are dropping like flies. And yet no one believes a murderer is on the loose… except for Lexy Baker and the troupe of iPad-toting grandmothers who live at the center.
When Lexy’s detective boyfriend, Jack, refuses to believe that foul play is involved, Lexy has no choice but to find the killer on her own. Along with Nans and her gang of iPad-toting, mystery-solving grandmas, they use everything from hypnosis to high-tech gadgets to track down the killer.
USA Today bestselling author, Leighann Dobbs, discovered her passion for writing after a twenty year career as a software engineer. She lives in New Hampshire with her husband Bruce, their trusty Chihuahua mix Mojo and beautiful rescue cat, Kitty.
Her book "Dead Wrong" won the "Best Mystery Romance" award at the 2014 Indie Romance Convention.
Her book "Ghostly Paws" was the 2015 Chanticleer Mystery & Mayhem First Place category winner in the Animal Mystery category.
A fun, lighthearted, humorous cosy, that centers on the mystery of why seemingly healthy people are dying in nursing homes. There’s a serial killer on the loose, and Lexy Baker, along with her grandmother Nans, and Nan’s fearless friends, are determined to get to the bottom of this since the police are just dismissing these cases as unremarkable.
This cosy might appeal to Grandmas, and all those who love a “golden sense of humor”. The bakery theme is lightly touched on, but a couple of recipes are included at the end.
The narrator, Hollis McCarthy, did an outstanding job in the audio version. She had great command of all the character voices used, and her timing and delivery were impeccable.
I did not like this book at all. It was way too short so absolutely no character development. The main character, Lexy, had obsession with eating and complained when she had to buy a size 8 dress instead of a 6. She became so obsessed that she did not eat to the point of passing out! What is that? In this time of poor body image and women starving themselves we have to deal with it in fiction as well. How about she makes better food choices instead of starving herself.
I don't know it just really bugged me and I would not recommend this book to anyone
Wow! What a return to form with the fourth book in the Lexy Baker Cozy Mysteries series. The writing concerning the detective grandma's was hilarious & I had a good giggle. I was a bit concerned about the whole "dieting" plot but it seemed to be balanced out with the idea that it wasn't healthy & was bad for you. I thoroughly enjoyed this one & can't wait to see what happens with *spoiler* Lexy's wedding.
This book felt sort of rushed and off to me. You figure out early on who did it, there is little character development, and then what is up with the wearing the wedding and bridesmaids dresses to the rehearsal?! I liked it enough to finish it, but that's not saying much.
This is nice. I love the character. The plot is great. Highly recommended. Read the others first. I will read the next one, but I am hoping for a couple more aft5er it.
The mystery was ehh What I didn’t like- Lexi starving herself to the point of passing out The grannies Using hypnotism on Lexi to make fun off her (all in good fun😒🙄🙄) that’s bullying Lexi’s penchant to fly of the handle without giving others a chance to explain The characters are just blah sometimes. I swear the murders commit crimes to get away from them 🤔🤔😒
3 Bodies and a Biscotti by Leaghann Dobbs is the 4th book in the Lexy Baker Mystery series. Lexy Baker's grandmother and her friends believe a murderer is killing people at a nursing home and enlist Lexy's help. An enjoyable mystery where we see Carrie planning her wedding. Lexy's grandmother and her friends are always a lot of fun and I liked all their gadgets. A short and swet cozy mystery.
This is the mystery that was mentioned at the tail end of the third book, so I was eager to get started on it. Nans and the girls were a little worried about some deaths at the retirement center hospital unit being blown off as natural causes. This caused a whole down the rabbit hole chain of looking into deaths at another retirement place. I think even though Nans and the girls came off as self-sufficient, Lexy was gonna be worried until the killer was caught.
Meanwhile, Cassie was getting married, and Lexy nearly forgot to show up at the rehearsal, lol. The funniest part was when Helen did hypnosis on Lexy to get rid of her eye twitch that was her tell she was lying about something. Yes, hilarity followed.
The showdown was pretty exciting and Nans got to help out. I'd had a feeling all along of whodunit but wasn't quite sure why, but everything made sense eventually when Jack explained how it tied into another case he was working on. Awww, the ending of this book was so sweet!
Let me start off by saying I love the Lexy Baker series. I find the books enjoyable and entertaining. For the most part I liked this book. But I feel at the end Leighann got bored writing the story so she just decided to have Lexy solve the crime leaving you (at least me) thinking What?!? That's it? Plus I thought the *******spoiler alert******** > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > proposal was extremely predictable.
Loved it. This one has been one of my favorites in the series. It had some very funny moments and the end was exciting. This one also had my favorite character Sprinkles in it. Hope there will be a new one in this series soon.
Book 4 in this series and it doesn't disappoint. Lexy and the Ladies Detective Club investigate what appears to be murders at the retirement home. If you want a short fun mystery to read, try out this series.
Actually was a 4 1/2 it was a good story... I loved the characters I just don't like went the authors put "the end" at the end when it seems to be a series
Thankfully, the audiobook was less than three hours long. Obnoxious and shallow main character, who went on a diet because she needed a size 8 dress instead of size 6!
When some of the residents at the Brook Ridge retirement village die suddenly, Lexy’s Grandma Nan and her friends suspect foul play, but the police, including Lexy’s boyfriend Jack, aren’t convinced. The ladies dig into the backgrounds of one of the nurses, who had transferred from another retirement home where it seems other mysterious deaths occurred. It seems that the older ladies do more of the detecting in this one, although Lexy is the one who finally figures things out. It seems that instead of baking and sleuthing, Lexy spends more time worrying about her weight after Jack teases her about her muffin top, and to add to the insult her friend and business partner Cassie is getting married and Lexy has to order her bridesmaid dress a whole size larger than she’s used to wearing. What’s also puzzling is that this person who wears designer stiletto heels while baking, walking the dog, and chasing after villains suddenly shows up at a formal event wearing tennis shoes. I think I’m going to take a break from this series.
I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you. My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it. If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give. Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away. Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.
Fun easy cozy mystery like all the rest. Just glad that Lexi caught onto the killer a lot sooner than she usually did and without her getting in more trouble. Liked the story for the most part with regards to the mystery but I didn't like the ending and I didn't like how her grandmother conspired with Helen to have a laugh at Lexy's expense and publicly hamulate her or how her boyfriend didn't show any understanding or compassion for Lexy when he saw she was upset but instead laughed at her as well.
With friends like Helen, grandma Mona, and boyfriend Jack... who needs enemies. I will not continue reading the series when an author glorifies bullying as good nature fun for others.

There is a serial killer on the loose in Brook Ridge Falls Retirement Center. Lex's grandmother, Nans, is feared to possibly fall victim. No one believes the deaths are abnormal even if assumed healthy people are dropping dead like flies? But Lexi believes there is a killer and she and her sidekicks will prove it, while wondering what the motive could be. A great, entertaining story. Don't forget to keep the treats beside you as you read! Very well written and intriguing. Highly recommend.
I enjoy reading the Lexy Baker mystery series by Leighann Dobbs. 3 Bodies and a Biscotti is not as "mysterious" as the first three books. I did like the fact that the action takes place right after Lexi, Cassie, and Nans return from the Bakery Battle in Las Vegas. But I can only give it 3 1/2 stars because the mystery didn't have the usual handful of suspects to choose from. This book is more about the romances of Cassie and John Darling and Lexy and Jack Perillo. I still enjoy "hanging out" with these likable characters, however, and I will keep reading to see what they get into next.
