The story's made me want to delve a bit into actual real-life history of the period, and what happened and when and by whom. Already I recognize some names and events. The horrors perpetuated at the start of this volume were lifted straight out of reality.

Fairly sure no blade-dancing assassins were involved, though.

But I know of many things of what happens in the future. Does it count as spoilers?

Il ritmo dell’azione rallenta per fare spazio a un lungo flashback che tiene però incollato alle pagine del volume fino alla fine.

We get Sei's backstory! The mangaka writes that Sei's story of returning to Qin was going to be the basis of Kingdom, before eventually Shin became the protagonist (in what we see now). So I guess getting Sei's history was inevitable. It definitely felt like the most shonen sort of story so far, with talks of dreams and longing stares at the moon as characters discuss their heartfelt motivations and all that. Tonally I think it was out of place with the rest of the manga but I did enjoy Shika as a character and it showed a completely different side of Sei to what we've seen so far.

"C'était le truc le plus dur et le plus triste que j'ai fait depuis que je suis sur cette série" nous dit l'auteur dans son message en fin de tome et il n'a pas tort, je ne peux pas cacher que l’histoire de l'évasion de Zhao me met un sale coup au moral à chaque lecture, encore plus avec le livre entre les mains.

(4.25) Un volume beaucoup trop intéressant. On en apprend plus sur le passé de Sei et le dernier chapitre met en lumière un personnage que je risque de grandement apprécier, Kyou Kai. C'est dingue à quel point ce manga me correspond à 100%.

It was nice getting to see Zheng's backstory, but I enjoyed the continuation of the story more. Things are really heating up in the kingdom of Qin.
